Tomb robbing: I was Buried alive in the Mausoleum of the First Emperor, I Get Stronger by Looting Corpses

Chapter 14 - The Cleansing Begins

Chapter 14: The Cleansing Begins

With a low hum, a war halberd materialised in Yang Yi’s grasp, summoned through the system. He examined it briefly before frowning. It was just an ordinary halberd, the shaft made of wood, lacking the weight and durability of a true battlefield weapon.

Still, for now, it was enough. His current opponents weren’t the tomb guardians—he did not need a superior weapon yet. This would do. Taking a step forward, he tightened his grip.

“Sweeping Thousand Armies!”

His wrist flicked, and the halberd came alive in his hands. With his tremendous strength, its motion was so fast that it bent under the pressure of inertia and wind resistance. The force of the swing howled through the air, creating a powerful sonic boom. The blade sliced forward, carrying the momentum of an unstoppable force, cutting a phantom path through the darkness. This was a technique born from war, designed for absolute slaughter on the battlefield.

“Halberd Breaks Ten Thousand Soldiers!”

Yang Yi suddenly changed his attack, shifting from a sweeping motion to a devastating thrust. The halberd’s head shot forward like a spear, aiming to pierce through an invisible enemy before him.

“Cleave the Mountain!”

With a deep roar, he lifted the weapon overhead and brought it down with a force that could split boulders in two. The impact tore through the stone floor, sending vibrations through the corridor. As the dust settled, he stood still, feeling the echo of his own power lingering in the air.

War Halberd Unrivaled had now been fully integrated into his combat style, drilled into his body countless times in condensed training. Unlike other weapons, the halberd was bold and unrelenting—each strike carried the intensity of a soldier in battle, seeking only to kill.

There was no elegance, no unnecessary movement. Every swing, thrust, and cut was meant to end lives as efficiently as possible. It was simple—pure destruction.

After completing a full routine, Yang Yi let the halberd rest against his lap, his breathing steady. Nearby, Meng Jiangnv was still asleep. He did not want to wake her. Instead, he took a moment to assess everything he had gained so far.

His inventory was overflowing.

He had stockpiled enormous amounts of food—flatbreads, grains, hundreds of pounds of meat, and over a thousand pounds of fruit. He had fabric, blankets, kitchenware, and even coarse salt, a vital necessity for long-term survival. There was nothing he lacked.

His gaze then shifted to the two sleeping figures inside the system’s storage space, and a small smile tugged at his lips. Lü Zhi, even in slumber, radiated an unmistakable nobility. Though she was not yet the Empress of Han, she already carried a natural air of power and refinement. It was no wonder that even the Xiongnu chieftain had once sought her hand in marriage after Liu Bang’s death.

Then there was the young girl—the child bride of the corpse he had looted. Despite her frail appearance and simple clothing, her natural beauty was undeniable. Given time, she would no doubt grow into an exceptional woman. For now, however, he didn’t even know her name.

Yang Yi chuckled to himself.

“Liu Bang must be furious right now.”

To have his wife disappear on their wedding day, without a trace, must have been a public embarrassment beyond measure.

“I wonder what kind of expression he’s making at this moment?” Shaking his head, he exited the system space and turned his focus back to his own attributes.

It was still too dangerous to release Lü Zhi or the young girl. The underground palace was a place of chaos, filled with hunger-driven lunatics. He would only let them out when it was truly safe.

The translucent status panel appeared before his eyes.

Yang Yi smirked with satisfaction.

“I’ve already begun my path to immortality.”

With 160 years of extra lifespan, even if he did nothing, he would outlive most mortals by generations. At this rate, there was no limit to how far he could grow. Perhaps, if he kept going, he would one day break the limits of the human body, ascend beyond mortality, and become a true immortal.

Far away in Pei County’s Si Shui Pavilion, Liu Bang was seething with fury. For a whole day and night, his anger had not subsided. His wedding day, the moment when he was supposed to claim his destined bride, had turned into a nightmare. Lü Zhi was gone. She vanished without a trace.

No one knew where she had gone or how she had disappeared—she had simply ceased to exist. Liu Bang had become a laughingstock. Worse, rumours had started spreading, whispering that he was cursed—an ill omen to those around him. Otherwise, his bride shouldn’t have vanished on the night of her wedding. His authority, which he had painstakingly built over the years, was beginning to crumble. And a deep unease settled in his heart, a feeling that this was only the beginning of his misfortune.

But Liu Bang’s anger was none of Yang Yi’s concern. He had more important matters at hand. As Meng Jiangnv stirred from her sleep, he turned his gaze to her. “Thank you for watching over me, Husband,” she murmured, blushing slightly as she adjusted her robes. “You should rest now.”

But Yang Yi shook his head. “No. It’s time to cleanse this corridor.” Meng Jiangnv blinked in surprise, but she did not question his decision.

Instead, she nodded in agreement. “Alright. Let me get dressed first.” As she wrapped herself in fresh clothing, she once again bound her chest, disguising herself as a man.

Yang Yi smiled faintly. “After today, you won’t need to hide anymore.”

If all went according to plan, by the end of the day, this corridor would be his alone. And in the process, he would step closer to breaking into the Hua Jin realm. The massacre was about to begin.
