Chapter 66 66: Locked in or locked out
On the afternoon of the next day, Alix went to the set of director Ban's movie to attend the audition of the singers he had picked out.
The current scene was being shot in a hotel, so when she was told that director Ban needed an hour as he was busy, she paid for a room and logged into the game.
As always, when she entered the gaming world, the first thing she did was walk around the city, visiting the shops in search of things to sell in the real world.
Most of the things being sold however were magician weapons, food stuffs, fruits, vegetables, clothes, shoes. Basically, most of these things could only fetch her money if she happened to find the right buyer.
While passing through a small alley, she found a shop selling beauty pills.
"Oh!" she said.
Her feet stopped moving of their own volition as the tall tower from which were flocking out or into caught her eyes. She might not be able to sell the face cream she got as a gift but she could sell beauty pills.
"Let me save you some time, you are too poor to afford more than ten pills." the blue elf told her.
"But I have in game currency, I have five thousand gold coins and ten gems." she tapped the part of the virtual screen with her currency.
"One pill costs two thousand gold. I protest any further use of the game currency to purchase such unnecessary things." The blue elf stomped it's foot and folded it's arms.
It took on the appearance of a mother scolding a spoiled child.
This was probably because she had purchased another dress from one of the shops to be worn on the night of the benefit.
"Transfer five million from my account." she told it.
Lucky items could be anything, and she had no idea if they would always be jewels. If she bought a few pills however and mixed them into other herbs from earth then she could come up with a good enough skin care cream.
The blue elf always came to life when money was involved and it transferred the funds immediately.
Alix walked into tower, bought five pills and then found her way to the quest board.
She was not the only one there, three other game players were looking at the board and choosing quests which they were confident in accomplishing.
The assassin was there, so was the paladin and the knight. As soon as she arrived, the paladin suddenly spread her wings and flew away.
Alix looked up at sky, eyes filled with envy as she jealously eyed the white wings.
"Okay I am pretty sure that she didn't have those the last time I saw her." she said.
Standing next to Alix, the assassin was another jealous one who was watching the paladin fly away. "She killed some kind of six winged bird and the wings were her reward. Aah, I am so jealous. You can't just buy wings simply because you want to."
The assassin who was also female, shared this news with Alix.
"Hi," Alix smiled and greeted her.
"Hi," the assassin answered.
She wore a smile on her face similar to Alix's own. She was all decked out in black, pants and a vest with a hooded cloak thrown on top.
From what Alix could see of her hair, it was a short pixie cut and her ears had sparkly drooping gems.
"You are that bard that took the ultimate level one world prize, right?" She asked Alix.
"And an arrow to the stomach." Alix nodded and added. "It hurt like a bitch. If I had known that if you die in this world you experience the same pain outside I would have been much more careful.
If I get my hands on that elf, I am taking it out against all odds."
The assassin laughed and put an arm around Alix's shoulders.
"You are vicious, I like you." She declared.
"What's your name?" Alix asked her.
"Dark death." She answered. "No one ever sees me coming but I always get my prey. What about you?"
Alix had used her real name in the game, now she felt quite silly for doing that. Perhaps she should have picked a cool name as well.
"It's too late, you are already registered as Alix or player 010." The system told her.
Seeing as to how she had no option, she opened her mouth and introduced herself.
"Alix." She said.
"Cool, Alix like the cyborg." Dark death told her.
Alix had no idea what cyborg Dark death was referring to. It was not on earth, perhaps it was on her world.
Game rules forbade them from asking or discussing their worlds so she could not ask anything further.
"It's good that you are wise. Always keep in mind that we are in this world illegally. The moment it's detected that you are inferior world you will be locked out of the game forever." Her system reminded her.
"I know." She said.
"Or locked in, they will not allow you to get out because you could inform the inferior world about the game or existence of the virtual world. Just be careful always." The system elf further added.
"I got it." She said.
She had seen the benefits of the gaming world and she wanted to stay there and reap as much as she could from it.
Also, she really didn't want to be locked inside the game. That was much scarier than being locked out.
"There is a dual quest, wanna do it with me?" Drak death asked her.
"What is it?" She lowered her eyes, looking at the very last quest on the board.
"It says a lava demon kidnapped a group of children from the city and its holding them captive in it's stronghold.
It sounds like it will be fun. Are you up for it?" Dark death looked at Alix.
On her face was a confident smile as if they had already completed the quest.
Either the assassin had confidence in her skills or confidence in Alix's because she won the ultimate level one world prize. Either way, fighting another demon sounded like an opportunity to reap big.
"I am in." Alix told her.
What do you think?
