That night, an exhausted Caishen was all but ready to close his eyes and go to sleep. However, he had one problem, that is the woman who was sleeping next to him.

Alix was staring at him, all bright eyed and hopeful, waiting on him to say yes to her request.

The request was for them to attend a charity benefit together.

Caishen had not attended any social gatherings since his accident. The invitations came but all were turned down. He was not sure if he wanted to go for this one either. It was on the tip of his tongue to say no but that damn bright look in her eyes was holding him back.

"Mmm, hubby Zhang, it's for a good cause." She insisted, and poked him in the arm.

As if that was not enough, she scooted closer to his side of the bed and placed her hand on his stomach.

"Lin Alix." He called her name through gritted teeth.

"Yes hubby." She replied coquettishly.

"Remove your arm." He told her.

"But I want to sleep next to you and hold you like this." She answered. "How can I sleep so far from the man I like?"

Caishen decided to move it for her if she would not do it herself.

He touched her arm, grabbing it by the wrist and threw it away.

Immediately, it returned, making itself comfortable and even daring to caress his stomach.

"Hubby Zhang, you can't lock yourself up forever away from the world. You said it yourself, you are a domineering man. What do you have to be worried about?

I your beautiful Alix will be standing next to you except for when I have to perform.

Madam Qian asked me to perform at her benefit."

She raised her head and looked at him.

"Hubby Zhang, truth be told, I am nervous about performing in front of people. I never thought I would ever get such a chance in my life and I am worried that I will blow it.

Moreover, all sorts of important and rich people attend that benefit and the thought of embarrassing myself is making my stomach churn.

Maybe I should have said no and started small, like playing for kids instead of critical adults."

She pursed her lips as she thought about all the ways in which something could wrong.

Caishen observed her face carefully. Initially, he thought that she was trying to make him feel better somehow but the more she talked, the more genuine her worry appeared.

"So you want me to go because you are scared to perform by yourself." He stated.

She nodded and pouted.

"Help." She said in a small voice, blinking really fast as if she was a doll.

He sighed and made up his mind.

"Fine, I will go." He said reluctantly. "But I am only going because you are scared, not for any other reason."

Alix cheered up immediately and suddenly lowered her head. Abruptly, she kissed him on the cheek.

"Thank you hubby Zhang. I knew you would not let me face such a big thing alone."

Her hand which was on his stomach gently patted it.

"Goodnight." She said softly and closed her eyes.

Caishen touched his cheek with his eyes wide and he looked at the shameless woman who had just stolen a kiss from him.

How dare she close her eyes and smile after what she had just done. Did she think he was like that owl plushie which she had kissed four times in this night alone?

"Lin Alix!!" He called her sternly.

In response, Alix started to snore. Small sounding pig like noises came out of her mouth.

"Stop pretending." He told her.

She rolled over and turned her back to him.

"Hey, if you keep pretending I will....I will...I will kiss you right now." He threatened.

Alix rolled over again, and she presented her entire face to him.

I dare you to do it, she thought.

Caishen could not believe her. This woman was truly shameless!! The most shameless woman he had ever seen in his life.

How could she just roll over willingly after he said such a thing? Did she think that he would not dare to do it?

He was not a coward and he would prove it to her right now.

Caishen slowly came closer to Alix, a full blown smirk on his face. This was especially because he noticed her eyelashes fluttering.

Her hands were even clenching her pajamas.

"I am going to do it now." He announced.

Right before his smirk filled face, Alix puckered her lips and waited. She could fill his breath on her cheeks and an anticipation filled her body.

What she felt next was not his lips but his index finger. It lightly spanked her mouth three times, forcing her to open her eyes.

"Crazy, you are so shameless. If all you wanted was a kiss, you should have just been open about it." Caishen whispered to her.

He laughed, turned his head away from her and switched off the bedside lamp.

Feeling suddenly much better than he had felt all day, Caishen closed his eyes and waited for the sweet sensation of sleep to come over him.

Alix on the other hand was touching her lips which had just been spanked.

She turned her head in Caishen's direction and glared at him.

How could he spank her innocent lips for no reason?

All she wanted to do was make their relationship progress somehow. She did not want to play relationship chicken as Jin Kang had warned her. Zhang Caishen was the kind of man who would stay in one place unless she came to him and she intended to do just that.

She didn't get a kiss from him but it was okay. Tonight she had kissed his cheek, tomorrow she would do the same.

Holea had told her to go slowly, treat her husband like a frog in warm water and make him comfortable. When he least expected it, she would nab his heart.

First a kiss on the cheek, then the forehead or nose and soon she would claim ownership of his lips.

"Bwahahaha."

In her mind, Alix laughed like a villain that was plotting to take over a city.

"Go to sleep you perverted woman." Her system complained.

She closed her eyes and went to sleep with a smile and a plan.
