Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Opening School Gift (2)
Her sensitivity to pain is higher than average, and her skin is the kind that doesn’t tan, always getting hurt from bumps and bruises, which caused her a lot of suffering growing up.
But the pain in her wrist is nowhere near the disappointment in her heart.
Mia Ginger bowed her head and walked over, picked up the phone, and softly said, "Hello."
"Mia Ginger?"
Two words, clear and polite, easily associating with that person.
Mia Ginger was momentarily lost in thought, then a voice came from the other side, "I’m Koa Jackson."
"I know." Mia Ginger pressed her lips together, gripping the phone tightly, trying to ignore the complex gazes directed at her.
"Hmm." Koa Jackson seemed to think for a moment, "Did Uncle Ginger tell you about staying at Cloudy Capital over the weekend?"
"He did." Mia Ginger felt a bit nervous, just imagining him considering how to bring it up was suffocating, like drowning.
"Don’t be nervous." Koa Jackson suddenly said.
He was holding the phone, hearing Mia Ginger’s rapid breathing.
Feeling a bit amused.
He’s twenty-seven, taller than the average man, and Mia Ginger is nineteen, although she’s 1.65 meters tall, she’s thin, with a face that fits in a palm, clearly still a child.
Just speaking this way felt like bullying her.
Koa Jackson tried to make his voice sound gentler, slowing his tone, "I need to check rooms before I get off work on Friday, might be a bit late, do you want to go by yourself or wait for me to pick you up after I finish work?"
Let him pick her up?
Just thinking about it felt troublesome to Mia Ginger, "I’ll go by myself."
"Alright." There was a slight pause on Koa Jackson’s side, "Note down the address, Uncle Lewis will be waiting for you at the community gate at six in the afternoon."
"Anyone else?" Mia Ginger asked suspiciously.
"Hmm? Don’t you like it?"
"No," Mia Ginger quickly denied, her cheeks somewhat red, "I’m just asking."
"There’s just Uncle Lewis, Aunt Lee, and Little Darcy," Koa Jackson’s reassuring chuckle came through, "Someone needs to take care of you back home."
Take care of her...
Mia Ginger hung up the phone, feeling a bit dizzy.
Charlotte Chester and Zuri Ginger looked at her inquiringly, both puzzled and cautious, with complicated gazes.
But Mia Ginger felt slightly better; just as she was about to turn and go upstairs, Aiden Jiang came striding in, accompanied by a young man carrying things in both hands.
Seeing everyone present, Aiden Jiang smiled at Mia Ginger and said, "Today during lunch, I realized you don’t even have a phone, so Dad asked Little Sutton to buy you a phone. Also, there’s a laptop; consider it a gift for starting school. Come and see if you like them?"
The young man hurriedly placed the laptop bag and the plastic bag on the coffee table, squatting halfway down to unpack them for Mia Ginger to see, saying while unpacking, "I didn’t know what color you liked, so both the laptop and phone are white. Girls usually choose white; it looks simple and elegant."
Mia Ginger leaned forward slightly to look.
The laptop is a Dell, white polished exterior, looking simple and clean; inside is matte black, appearing understated and elegant.
The phone is the latest model from Apple, iphone6s, silver-white, with a protective film and case, even has a tiny crystal dust plug embedded.
Clearly, both gifts involved considerable thought and expense.
"Little Sutton also got you a new phone card," Aiden Jiang smiled at her slightly pursed lips, "The number is pasted outside the phone case."
The youth, referred to as "Little Sutton," handed the phone to her.
Mia Ginger softly thanked him, straightened up, glanced at the smiling Aiden Jiang, her eyes bending slightly, "Thanks, Dad."
What do you think?
