Million dollar bride

Chapter 28: Hair dying

Mr. Stephen returned the phone to Rika, said. “I have not met this man. Who is he? Although I don't know, by the way, he dresses, I know that his family is very rich. Why don't you bring him to us? Is it because our family is poor?”
Ella said hastily. "Not. Because he was very busy with his work, he couldn't come. Next time, I'll bring him to you." She makes a promise to her father.
“Does your husband's family treat you well?” Mr. Stephen asked in a doubtful tone.
"Do not worry. Our family treats Ella well.” Rika said.
Ella nodded in agreement. "Right. I live very well. Why do you think they treated me badly?”
“In dramas, rich people often treat poor people like us badly.” Mr. Stephen said.
“Not everyone is evil. We love Ella, I always consider her like my real sister.” Rika took Ella's arm and said.
“You rest and don't worry. I'm fine." Ella said and led her father to the bedroom.
Moments later, Ella came out into the living room. Rika then asked. “How did this end up? Why didn't you tell your father about this marriage? There's a secret, right?"
Ella went to the window and sighed. “Your brother and I only have a marriage contract. I married him because he promised to pay for my father's treatment, at that time my father needed urgent surgery. I have no other choice. He faked a marriage with me because he didn't want to be forced to marry your mother."
Hearing her words, Rika understood everything. "I got it."
“After three years, we will divorce. During this time, he may be able to find a suitable girlfriend for him.” Ella is sad.
“But I see my brother loves you, he cares and worries about you.”
"I do not know. It can be a temporary feeling. Either way, this is not a real marriage. It is fake.”
“But feelings are real, right?” Rika looked directly into Ella's eyes and asked. “Do you love my brother too?”
Ella was silent, lowering her head.
“I guess you love my brother too, why aren't you brave enough to protect your love?” Rika asked in an innocent voice like she didn't know the difficulties surrounding Ella.
"You know, your mom doesn't like me and there's Maria."
"Don't mention Maria, she's nothing." Rika was a little angry. “You are a strong, gentle girl who is a perfect match for my brother and I am sure he wants to choose a wife like you. Maria is arrogant and stoic, she doesn't deserve David. Rest assured, I will convince my mother.” She boosted Ella's spirit.
Ella smiled lightly. “Thank you so much for understanding me. But this is my business, I will deal with it myself. And I don't want to force anyone."
"OK. But I hope you won't divorce my brother after three years. I am very happy that you are my sister-in-law.” Rika took Ella's hand and said cheerfully.
“Are you coming back tonight?” Rika asked as she and Ella entered the house from the balcony.
"I'll stay with my father."
"I'll sleep with you tonight, okay?"
"Of course." Ella led Rika to her bedroom.
“Your bedroom is cute,” Rika said while looking around the room.
It is a fully furnished room with a single bed on the left and a wardrobe in the right corner. And there stands a wooden table with a shelf that contains many exciting books. Next to the wardrobe is a small bathroom.
Ella cleans the house and prepares to make lunch. Rika also went to the kitchen, helping her. Mr. Stephen sat outside in the living room watching TV but he wasn't paying attention. He feels guilty that Ella got married because of him. As for the son-in-law, he was quite angry when David didn't come to face him.
'I'll teach him a lesson later.' Mr. Stephen thought.
In the kitchen.
“I heard my brother say you cook very well,” Rika asked while cutting the potatoes.
“When my mother was alive, she used to teach me to cook.” Ella tilted her head and said.
“Ella, do you think we rich people always treat the poor badly?”
Ella was dumbfounded.
“Not all rich people are like that. My mom is a bit harsh on you because she hasn't seen your good points yet. Don't worry, I believe one day my mother will realize that only you are her daughter-in-law."
Ella made a wry smile.
"Where is your hometown?" Rika continued to ask.
“In town Z.” Ella was washing the vegetables while answering her.
"How's the scenery?"
"So beautiful."
“I want to go to your hometown.”
"If you have a chance, come to my hometown, I will take you to visit."
Rika then asked Ella many other questions. They chatted while making lunch together.
That night, Rika slept in the room with Ella. Ella's phone beeped signaling she had a new message. She opened it to read. 'I'll be back next week.' A brief message from David.
For some reason, when reading that message, Ella felt joy in her heart.
Rika looked at her sister-in-law's face, smiling teasingly. “My brother texted you, right? And yet you say you don't have feelings for him."
Ella hesitated for a moment. "But I don't know if he loves me?"
"I believe he loves you."
"Really? I'm just afraid it's just a temporary feeling for him."
“People in love are different from other ordinary people. I sometimes see him smiling aimlessly when he's alone."
Ella looked at Rika. “How do you know that? Are you already in love?”
A person appeared in Rika's mind. It was Key, who had saved her in the bar a few days ago. Her lips smile. Ella thought that Rika was but she didn't know who that person was.
"Hey, we're going to dye our hair tomorrow morning," Rika suggested, not answering Ella's question.
"Why?"
“My brother is coming back, right? Change your hair color to surprise him.”
Ella thought it wouldn't be a big deal to change her hair color, so she agreed.
The next morning, Rika called the family driver, who drove her and Ella to the famous salon that Rika frequented. Stepping out of the car, the salon staff came out to greet the two girls. The salon owner spoke to Rika in a cheerful tone. “Rika, long time no see. And this girl is…” The woman glanced at Ella.
Introduced by Rika. “This is Ella, my sister-in-law.”
The salon owner was a bit surprised. “Is your brother married? He has a strange hobby.” She looked at Ella from top to bottom, pouting at Ella's sloppy appearance.
Ella understood that look but she said nothing.
Rika broke the silence by suggesting this to the salon owner. “We wanted to dye our hair platinum.”
"Okay." The woman nodded.
