Million dollar bride

Chapter 29: I did a bad thing

An hour later, Ella's black hair turned platinum. This platinum hair color makes her look both beautiful and youthful. Rika dyed her hair pink. Pink is her favorite color.
Stepping out of the salon, the two girls went to a nearby fashion store, buying a lot of beautiful clothes.
Finally, they return to their mansion. When Ella got out of the car, all the maids lined up to greet her, and Rika was stunned at Ella's new hair color. They weren't surprised about Rika, as she dyed her hair once a month. So, she has become familiar in their eyes. But, Ella is different. She is known to be a kind, gentle, standard girl, so when she dyed her hair, everyone was surprised.
Mr. Ella's father-in-law, Roy, who also just got home, paled when he saw that she dyed her hair platinum.
Mrs. Emma was extremely angry, scolding her. "You liar. You are no different than the long-legged girls in the bar. Are you marrying my son for money, and then you will leave him for another man?”
Hearing her mother say bad words, Rika raised her voice. “It was me asking Ella to dye her hair.”
Ella, taken aback, walked silently into the living room. Why did her mother-in-law treat her like this? She just dyed her hair, is that wrong?
Sophie told her to go up to her room to meet Mr. Harry.
“Why did you dye your hair?” Mr. Harry asked when Ella opened the door.
“Since David is coming back, I wanted to surprise him.” Ella bowed her head.
“Why did you choose this color?” Mr. Harry kept asking because he was curious.
“It's just… this color suits me.” Ella stroked her hair.
"OK. I called you here because I wanted to tell you about a problem. Soon our family will hold a party, wait for David to return from work, and we will start. Prepare yourself now.”
"Yes, I'm sorry to go out." Ella apologized and walked out of Mr. Harry's.
She goes to her and David's bedroom. When she opened the door, she smelled a familiar scent. It was the perfume that David used to wear. But unfortunately, that man has not returned yet.
'Why do I miss him?' Ella mumbled and ignored her thoughts, she opened the closet to choose a comfortable outfit and went to the bathroom. She needed to take a shower before going down to the dining room.
In the dining room, Mr. Harry looks at Ella's hair, he thinks this new hair color looks good on her, and it makes her more radiant. Mr. Roy was still shocked when he looked at Ella's silver hair. Mrs. Emma paid no attention to Ella at all.
Mr. Roy hastily ate his meal and then went back to his office. Her grandfather and mother-in-law just silently ate. The meal looked gloomier than usual. She didn't want to look at this bleak scene at all, but she had no choice. David has put her in an awkward situation. After completing the mission, she will return to her own life. She will go home with her father.
Ella tells herself she will try to forget about David, she hopes time will help her forget everything about this place, the good and the bad.
She will start over. She will not let her youth pass in a bland and wasteful manner. She clenched her fists and was determined to harden her heart.
After dinner, Ella sat in the living room with Rika, her cute brother-in-law.
“You must be wondering why my mother told you that and my father acted like that?” Rika asked.
“Did I frighten your father? Am I ugly?" Ella asked Rika thinking about Mr. Roy. As soon as he saw her face, he looked away, he didn't even want to share the table with her as if she were something disgusting.
"No. You don't think much. My father overreacted. He was just shocked because it's your first time dyeing your hair anyway, right?" Rika said while flipping through a magazine. “It started with my father's first love. Once, he fell in love with a girl with silver hair, but she broke up with my father for another man. She was just toying with my father's feelings. Since then, my father has been 'allergic' to girls with silver hair. That's why he looks so shocked when he sees your new hair color."
Ella let out a long sigh when she heard her father-in-law's story through Rika's narration. No wonder he behaves like that. Maybe he's upset because her new hair color reminds him of a past relationship.
Rika put the magazine down on the table and continued. “Now, my mother is trying very hard to make sure that my father gets rid of his sadness and enjoys their life. It's not your fault, so don't feel bad." She patted Ella's shoulder and got up to go to the bedroom.
Earlier, Mr. Roy just ate a little rice and quickly got up from the dining table and entered the office. Even though Rika says it's not Ella's fault, she still feels guilty. She didn't expect her hair dyeing to cause turmoil in the family. Mrs. Emma hates her even more.
The living room was empty, except for Ella. She got bored and took out her phone and texted David. “I did a terrible thing.”
David, who had just woken up from his sleep, hurriedly opened his phone to check. He saw the message Ella sent. He replied. "What did you do? What's the matter?" He stared at the phone screen with empty and lifeless eyes.
Ella briefly told him the story she encountered. "I dyed my hair platinum, I didn't know it would create a storm for your father."
David breathed a sigh of relief. He even thought that something bad had happened to his wife. He thought for a moment before texting her. “Rika is right, this is not your fault at all. My father should face the present, if he keeps hiding, he won't be able to live in peace."
“Why do I have to put up with this? Why did it happen to me?” Ella's message sounded exasperated.
David feels guilty that he dragged her into this. He went on to send another message. "Please do what you want. Don't try to force yourself."
One more message. “Don't think too much. I recommend doing something to clear your mind. For example, raise a cat.”
