Chapter 18: I almost got harassed
"What are you doing here?" Raymon sat down next to her and started a conversation.
"I'm just going for a walk," Ella replied, speaking without looking at him.
“Where is your husband, why did he leave you alone?”
"He's busy at the company."
Raymon rubbed his chin a little before he continued. “The husband and wife aren't together, which means he's secretly dating another girl. As such, he doesn't love you."
Ella doesn't know if David loves her or not but she is annoyed by Raymon's words.
Where David goes, and what she does, she has no right to interfere. However, she doesn't want the fake marriage between her and him to not look good in front of other people.
So, Ella said. "If you don't know, don't talk nonsense."
“I don't talk nonsense. Think about it, what husband would leave his wife alone? I know the person David is. He is dry and rigid, but he is pursued by many girls. Are you sure he doesn't have a crush on one of those girls?" Raymon smirked. "Poor you to marry someone like that, my girl."
Ella rolled her eyes, looking at him. "I'm not your girl."
“Why don't you choose a man who loves you, takes care of you, and pampers you, just like me? If you need it, I'll give you anything you want." Raymon joked.
“Are you trying to flirt with me?” Ella looked at his face with a puzzled expression.
Raymon sat close to her. “If you leave David and choose me, I will make you happy.”
Ella moved away. "Don't forget I'm a married woman."
“Oh, so what? I don't care, just you divorce David. Things are easy, aren't they?" Raymon laughed amusedly.
“Why do you want me to divorce David? What's your purpose?" Ella frowned.
“Because I loved you, from the first meeting. As long as you accept, I agree to do anything for you.” Raymon grabbed Ella's shoulders, trying to pull her close to him.
Ella panicked, using all her strength to escape from Raymon's grasp. She ran away. Hearing footsteps chasing after her, she ran even faster. She dared not look back.
Ella ran out of the park, to where Key was parking his car and stopped to gasp.
Key was sitting in the car, listening to music, and seeing Ella, he took his headphones out of his ears, hurriedly got out of the car, and asked her. "What's up? Why are you running? Is someone chasing you?”
“Yes, I…” Ella turned her head to look behind her but didn't see Raymon. She raised an eyebrow, looking around. “Okay, nothing. Let's back home." She looked at her watch and opened the car door.
Key finds her strange but he doesn't ask. He quietly sat in the driver's seat and started the car.
Not long after, Key stopped the car in front of Anthony's mansion. Ella thanks him for bringing her home.
When she entered the living room, Mr. Harry asked, surprised to see Ella return alone. “Where is David? Doesn't he come with you?"
“David had something to do at the company office, so he asked Key to drive me home first.” Ella helped David lie, she put a smile on her face and went to the bedroom after Mr. Harry nodded acknowledging her reasoning.
In the bedroom, Ella took off her shoes, threw her bag on the floor, grabbed her clothes and a towel, and went to the bathroom.
After bathing, she took the soft pillow from the bed and placed it on the couch. Her body and mind were completely exhausted. She lay down on the couch and stared at the ceiling, thinking. 'He's at Maria's house, he probably won't be home tonight.' She sighed sadly and fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, David returned to his room. As soon as he entered the room, he saw her bag and shoes littered on the floor. He stooped to pick it up and put it on the corresponding shelf.
David opened the closet for a T-shirt and jeans and walked into the bathroom. He changed into comfortable pajamas and stepped out. As he walked toward the bed, he saw that Ella was not on the bed. He turned his gaze to the couch and saw her fast asleep. He walked over and squatted down, looking at her face.
He then took her in his arms and laid her down on the bed, gently, being careful not to wake her. He put the blanket over her and lay down next to her.
The next morning, when Ella woke up, she found her lying in bed. She raised an eyebrow, wondering. 'Did I sleep in a bed last night?'
She shook her head, thinking she must be sleepwalking. She looked to the other side of the bed, it was empty. She sighed. 'So he didn't come back last night.' She felt her heart aching.
David got up early in the morning because he had an important meeting that day, and he hadn't even had breakfast.
Ella doesn't know this, she thinks he spent the night at Maria's house and she feels sad about it.
Ignoring the thoughts in her head, Ella continued her morning chores: brushing her teeth and having breakfast. She doesn't want to go out today. She goes to David's company infrequently. Even though she's his secretary, he doesn't want her to work hard so he lets her do whatever she likes.
Ella wants to spend the day at the villa. She must do. She lives in the same house, but she and her mother-in-law are always fighting. She wanted to make her mother-in-law happy, so she volunteered to take care of Mrs. Emma.
A few weeks ago, Rika told Ella. “My mother loves to plant flowers, as long as you help her take care of her garden, she will see you in a different light.”
Ella did as Rika said. After breakfast, Ella went to the backyard of the west mansion. She stood in front of Mrs. Emma, in her hands were gardening tools: hoes, shovels, gloves, buckets of water…
She wears a long-sleeve shirt, ripped jeans, and a pair of yellow rubber boots. Her hair is tied in a ponytail. She looks so energetic and young.
Ella looked around the flower garden and started to do her work. Watering plants, pruning leaves, catching worms… She plowed the soil and planted a seedling in one of the open spaces in the garden. After two hours, she wiped the sweat from her forehead with her hand and was pleased with the result.
Ella believes that Mrs. Emma will be happy to see her 'new garden'. But things didn't turn out the way Ella expected.
What do you think?
