Million dollar bride

Chapter 17: I and him are not in the same world

Maria felt uncomfortable, so she cleared her throat. “David, you come to my house tonight. We watch movies together. I just got back home, there's so much I want to tell you."
“I can't. You know, I'm married." David replied nonchalantly.
“Let Key take Ella home.” Maria turned to Ella, making a sad face. “Ella, I beg you, let him come to my house, okay? We haven't talked to each other for a long time. Don't worry, our feelings are like… brother and sister. Please."
“Why are you begging me? Didn't he say 'no'?" Ella raised the wine glass to her mouth and took a sip. Her tone sounded sarcastic and mocking.
David chuckled when he heard Ella's answer.
Before Ella could put her wine glass on the table, Maria deliberately kicked Ella's leg under the table, causing the glass to tilt and spill on her shirt.
“Why don't you care? I will help you clean up.” Maria got up from her chair, grabbed Ella's arm, and the two of them went to the bathroom, leaving David and Key on the table.
“Maria has returned, I will be tired. Before, she always bothered me.” David sighed to Key.
“Boss, you have to work hard. I think there will be difficulties. You also know Maria's temperament, she will never give up if she has not achieved her goal. She always wanted to be your wife.” Key encouragement.
"I know. I'm worried about Ella. If only I could guess Ella's thoughts.” David replied.
“There is also your mother. She always wants you to divorce Ella. With her and Maria working together, things will only get worse.” Key prompts.
“Thank you for telling me. I will protect this contract marriage.” David said in a fierce voice.
In the toilet.
Maria stood with her back against the wall, facing the back of Ella, who was washing her shirt with the faucet.
"Who are you?" Maria crossed her arms over her chest and asked.
“Don't you know me? Just now David introduced me to you that I am his wife.” Ella said without turning her head.
“Why did you marry David? What's your purpose? Money, right? If you marry for the money, I can give you the money right away and get out of his life.” Maria zips up her bag.
“You don't think everyone wants money as you do. If you have that much money, keep it to spend. We love each other.” This time, Ella turned around and faced Maria.
"Love?" Maria smirked, laughing at her. “David never loved a girl like you.”
"Why?"
“Because I am the one who grew up with him, I know him well. Maybe he was lured by you, you forced him to marry you.” Maria said proudly.
Ella felt that Maria's mind was very rich. “You have such a creative brain, why don't you be a writer?”
Maria clenched her fists, gritting her teeth. “How dare you say these things to me?”
“Why wouldn't I dare? I am David's official wife, I have the right." Ella had a smile on her face, mocking Maria who was standing in front of her.
Maria was furious to the point of madness. “He will never love you. He's just temporarily driven crazy by you. Now that I have returned, he will be with me. Wait and see, I'll kick you out of Anthony's mansion and take my David back."
“My David? When was he yours? As far as I know, he only sees you as his sister. He doesn't have any feelings for you at all." Ella said in a low and cold voice.
"Slut." Maria rushed to slap Ella in the face, warning her. “Don't make me repeat this. You'd better get a quick divorce from David, or I'll make your life miserable."
Ella was a little scared at Maria's warning. A minute ago, out of pride, she had forgotten that she and David were only husband and wife by contract. Maria's slap woke her up. She and he are not in the same world.
'After three years, we will part. Wake up, Ella. Don't forget your duties in this contract.' Ella thought as she left the bathroom. When she returned to the dining table, she found Maria sitting in the chair long ago.
David looked at her slightly red face, panicking. "What's wrong with your face?"
"Nothing, I was washing my face just now, but unfortunately touched the ring on my hand, so my face was a little red." Ella glanced at Maria and timidly said. Then she looked at David and spoke in a soft voice. “Go to Maria's house, she has a lot to tell you. I'll be back with Key. I will notify family members that you are busy handling work at the company.” She was brave enough to say these things. She didn't know why her heart ached when she saw them together. Did she fall in love with him?
David narrowed his eyes slightly, asking. “Are you sure? You want me to go?”
Ella nodded.
“What did you two say in the bathroom?” David felt strange looking at Ella's expression, so he asked Maria.
"Nothing. We just chatted and I wanted to be friends with Ella. Isn't that right, Ella?" Maria smiled friendly at Ella.
Ella didn't answer, her lips pursed. She drinks some water.
Key looked at Maria's smug smile, feeling puzzled. He doesn't believe that Maria wants to be friends with Ella. This reason is ridiculous.
Leaving the restaurant, David drove Maria to her house.
Ella is brought back by Key. She looked at the clock, seven o'clock in the evening. She looked at Key, who was driving beside her.
“I want to go for a walk in the park, please drop me at the downtown park.”
"What's wrong with you? Are you not okay?” Key asked worriedly.
"No. I just want to be alone.” Ella said, looking out the window.
"OK." Key nodded and drove straight to the city center park. He parked the car on the sidewalk and told her. "When you're done walking, give me a call."
Key must protect Ella's safety because David asked him to.
Ella nodded and opened the car door, getting out. She walked to the path leading to the park with a blank mind.
The lights were turned on, illuminating the park, but no one was there. Ella kept walking until she saw stone benches under old trees. She walked over and sat down on one of the stone benches. Suddenly, she felt someone walking toward her. She thought that Key was looking for her. But not. Under the bright light, the person's face appeared and she recognized it as Raymon - David's colleague and friend, so she did not take precautions.
