Million dollar bride

Chapter 16: Let's eat together at a restaurant

After seeing the strange girl's angry gaze, Ella involuntarily took a step back, keeping her distance from David.
David glanced briefly at the man standing behind Maria, his eyes filled with questions. Key understood what his master meant, he made a face like 'I surrender to this girl.'
Maria entered the room and stood across from David. “Key says you're busy. Is this your busy job?” She coldly looked at Ella.
Ella calmly stood to David's left, not saying a word. But inside, she kept cursing herself for not keeping her distance from him. She told herself she wouldn't love him, but now her heart flutters for him.
“What are you doing here?” Ignoring Maria's question, David asked seriously.
'Don't be rude, I need to be gentle to win his affection.' Thinking that Maria immediately changed her expression. She stroked her hair and spoke in a soft voice.
“I have just returned from abroad. I miss you so much. I just want to meet you. I heard Key say that you were busy, so I asked Key to drive me here. I didn't tell you because I wanted to give you a surprise. Who knew you surprised me even more.” Maria hugged David's arm tightly, glancing at Ella.
David tried to pull his hand away from hers. “Don't forget I only see you as my sister. If you do that, my wife will misunderstand.”
The word 'wife' made Maria roll her eyes. She stared at David and then at Ella, her voice doubtful. “Are you already married? Who is your wife? Don't tell me… is your wife… her?" Maria pointed at Ella's body.
As if to prove Maria's words were true, David grabbed Ella's hand, pulling her closer to him. “She is my wife. We've been married for two months."
Surprised, Maria opened her mouth. How did this happen? No one told her about David and Ella's marriage. She looked at Key. "Why didn't you tell me that David was married?"
“Sorry, since you didn't ask, how can I answer? Besides, I have no right to meddle in the boss's affairs." Key just shrugged. His words made Maria even madder.
Originally, Maria returned to the country to marry David, but she did not expect him to be married. Although David is not married to Ella, he is not married to Maria. Because he doesn't love her.
A few people standing outside the door held up their phones to record clips. And they started whispering to each other.
“Is he the general manager David Anthony? He's already married, isn't he? And who is that girl? Ex-girlfriend?"
“Or is he… cheating?”
David sighed upon hearing those words. Tomorrow, today's news will flood all online forums. His and Ella's lives are stirred once again. He just wants to live a peaceful life with Ella.
Seeing his master's expression, Key stepped outside, dispersing the gathered crowd.
Maria thinks otherwise. She will use this noise to create a shock that makes David and Ella unable to live in peace. When the time comes, she will force them to divorce.
What she wants is to be by David's side at all times so that misunderstandings arise. Ella is upset and does not accept this marriage anymore. After all, she is a beautiful, rich girl. She couldn't believe she'd lost to an ugly, country boy named Ella.
So Maria stood close to David, her voice cooing. "I'm hungry."
David raised his eyebrows slightly. He took a step back, grabbed her shoulders, and tried to separate her from him.
“Key, drive her to the restaurant,” David ordered his assistant.
Maria was dumbfounded, she thought David was going to eat with her. “But I want to eat with you. It's been a long time since we ate together."
"I ate." David kept his distance from Maria. He knows her feelings for him. She has always wanted to be his wife. But he doesn't want to. She's not the type of woman he likes.
David turned his gaze to Key. Knowing that look, Key told Maria. “Ms. Maria, I'll make a reservation at your favorite French restaurant, okay?"
Ignoring Key's question, Maria smiled at David. "I just got home, can't you have a meal with me?" She turned to Ella. “You can bring your wife with you. You should introduce her to me, right? We should be more understanding.” Maria's voice was soft and gentle but her gaze towards Ella was not so soft and gentle. This only Ella knows.
“Ella, you speak. Will you go eat with me?” Maria asked.
“Wait for me to finish studying,” Ella said.
"Does not matter." Maria smiled then she turned her face away, the smile instantly gone.
The dance teacher entered the room with the other students.
David changed his clothes and went outside to wait for Ella. Maria's eyes darkened when she knew David was only looking at Ella through the window.
'You want to rob my David, I won't let you live in peace.' Maria shouted in her lap, her hand clenched.
In the afternoon, when Ella finished school, they drove to the most famous restaurant in the city.
During the trip, David always held Ella's hand. Maria looked at that fist, extremely angry but she tried to control it.
At restaurant.
The four of them sat at the same table by the window, to eat while watching the city view at night.
David pulled out his phone and called Mr. Harry. “I went to a restaurant with my wife to eat. Don't wait for us."
"OK."
"Yes," David said and hung up the call.
After David called Mr. Harry, they started ordering from the menu. David chose Cassoulet. Ella chose Escargot. Maria chose Salade Nicoise. And Key chose Bouillabaisse. Dessert is Croissant.
In an instant, their dinner was brought out by the waiters.
David and Ella sat next to each other. Maria and Key sat across from them. Maria wasn't happy about this way of sitting, but she didn't say it.
They enjoyed their dinner in silence. Moments later, Maria broke the silence by speaking. “Key is just a servant, why is he eating with us?”
Hearing that question, Key put his chopsticks down on the table, preparing to get up from his chair. Before he had a chance to get up, David signaled him not to move out of his seat.
“Key is not a servant, he is a good friend of mine. Don't speak so harshly. Key, you just eat with us.”
Key obeyed and listened to David.
Maria bit her lip. She hates low-class people, like Key and… Ella. But she restrained herself, a smile on her lips. “You are so kind and gentle. That's why I love you." She doesn't hesitate to express her feelings to David.
But he didn't care, he pretended not to hear the words, put the food in Ella's cup, and smiled at her.
