Ascension in the Apocalypse

A few minutes later..

"You two must have suffered a lot.." Max stroked little Lina's head and looked at Luna softly.

Luna laughed bitterly: I tried to go out to find some food, but who would have thought that a Zombie would chase me frantically and almost kill me?"

She trembled in fear when she thought of the Zombie's sharp teeth tearing and devouring her flesh while she was still alive.

"Don't worry, from now on I will protect you." Max assured with a confident look.

Little Lina's eyes lit up: Really? Big brother won't abandon us?"

"Tsk! How can I abandon my beautiful little sister? Only a piece of trash would do that.." Max clicked his tongue and spoke in disgust.

To her, Max has always been more than a friend. During her time knowing him, Luna fell in love with him and really wanted to make their relationship official, but the damn apocalypse descended upon the world and she thought Max had died.

"Let's go to my apartment! I still have a lot of canned food stocked there!" Max stood up and headed towards the door.

Luna picked Lina up in her arms and quickly followed him with her beautiful eyes shining with anticipation. She and little Lina are starving to death, it's been almost two days since they've eaten anything.

Max looked outside through the peephole in the door and frowned when he saw two Level 1 Zombies wandering nearby.

He looked at Luna and said, "There are two Zombies outside, I'll deal with them..."

"Be careful..." Luna didn't persuade him and spoke with a worried expression. She knew that Max was more stubborn than a bull!

If he was determined to do something, no one could stop him. Max smiled at her and left the apartment after nodding. As soon as he left, the two Zombies roared and attacked him fiercely.

Max snorted coldly and sent them flying with two quick and strong kicks.

The corpses of the two Zombies fell to the ground with dull thuds, making a little noise. Max picked up the two Level 1 Red Boxes they dropped and called Luna and little Lina over. Luna was shocked to see the two corpses on the ground a few meters away.

She covered little Lina's vision with her hands and quickly entered Max's apartment. Max closed the door and saw that the number on the bar next to his Level had increased to 35%! He smiled happily and took Luna to the kitchen.

Once there, the tow separated the good food from the ones that had already gone bad. Luna was extremely happy when she saw the food and almost cried with pure joy.

She started cooking quickly and felt her stomach growling when she smelled the delicious smell of the food being cooked.

"Mommy! I'm so hungry!" Little Lina approached them with a very anxious expression and said with teary eyes.

Max felt a very strong pain in his heart and took a bag of chips and gave it to the little girl, who laughed happily and started eating quickly. Luna looked at Max with a look so soft that it almost softened his bones.

Instead of thanking him, she hugged him tightly, burying her head in his chest and whispered softly: Thank you! Thank you for not being dead..."

Max was stunned and laugheh: I haven't even made you my wife, so how can I afford to die?"

Luna blushed slightly and cried softly into his chest. Max's eyes shone with tenderness, he just hugged her and felt a lot of pain in his heart when he felt how thin she was now.

A few minutes later, Luna got out of Max's strong arms and went back to cooking. Max opened another bag of chips and fed Luna, who was more than happy to accept his affectionate gesture. She even sucked Max's finger, making him a little excited.

An hour later, dinner was ready. Luna and Lina and ate until they were almost completely full. Max also ate much more than usual.

He and Luna realized that the food wouldn't last even a week if they kept eating like this. After talking a little more about the subject, Max decided to eliminate all the Zombies in the building and take all the food from the apartments.

Although anxious and worried, Luna didn't object and told him to be very careful.

"Go take a shower and then sleep, you two look very tired." Max spoke softly and took the dirty dishes to the sink.

"But the dishes..."

"I'll wash them, now go take a shower and go to bed." Max interrupted Luna and spoke once more, leaving no room for any discussion.

Luna approached him and gave him a soft kiss on the lips before taking little Lina to the bathroom. Max touched his lips with a dazed expression: My first kiss.."

Yes! That was Max's first kiss, he hadn't even touched a woman yet. You could say that he is a complete virgin! After a while, Max recovered and washed the dishes with a big smile on his face.

After washing the dishes, Max sat on the sofa in the living room with his eyes shining and stretched out his right palm forward.

He thought about retrieving one of the Red Boxes from the Dark Space.

A second later, a Red Box appeared above Max's palm, causing a smile to spread across his face. He tried to send the Red Box to the Dark Space once more and.. he succeeded!

The Red Box disappeared in the next instant. Max took a look at that Dark Space in his mind and saw the Red Box there, along with the other two.

"A Storage Space!" Max was so excited that he smiled from ear to ear.

He took out the three Red Boxes and opened them one by one..

Apart from the Fireman's Axe, the remaining items are food. The Fireman's Axe and the food appeared inside the Storage Space. Max thought for a moment and summoned the Fireman's Axe, which appeared in his right hand right after.

"Cool! Now I have a good weapon!" Max nodded with a very satisfied expression on his face.

"Max, where did you get that Axe?" Luna's curious voice echoed through the room.

Max looked at the entrance of the room and saw her entering wearing only a robe to cover her body with her hair a little wet. She sat down next to Max and looked at the Fireman's Axe with a curious expression.

After thinking for a moment, Max told her the truth, leaving Luna extremely shocked and a little envious. After a while, envy turned to joy, now they wouldn't have to go hungry!

That's a very, very big advantage in a damn apocalypse! Max talked a little more with Luna and got up: I will clear the Zombies in the Building."

"Be very careful..." Luna didn't persuade him not to go, only a foolish woman would do that.

For Max, killing zombies is the same as leveling up and becoming much stronger! The stronger he is, the better for the three of them, so Luna didn't stop him, even though she was dying of worry inside.
