Chapter 22: He’s Ao Bing’s Son
I couldn’t help but raise my hand. The little demons around me stared in shock and tension, as if daring to speak up amid the rising hostility was unthinkable.
Sister Mei nodded, permitting my question.
“Boss E, under what circumstances can students from the Demon Realm’s Divine Cultivation Class go to the human world to hunt down criminals? If the demons belong to the Demon Realm, why don’t we handle our own affairs?”
Boss E suddenly grew animated, pointing at me. “Great question! We’ve argued with those immortal brats about this countless times!”
“Ahem.” Sister Mei coughed lightly, as if urging him to stay civil.
But we were demons—casual by nature.
Her warning fell on deaf ears. Boss E’s agitation only escalated. “Back when the peace treaty between realms was signed, they forced us demons not to cross into the human world freely. Even our outposts there are under their surveillance! Pah! They’ll beg for our help one day!”
“Enough, enough—” Sister Mei cut him off and turned to me. “In special cases, the Immortal Realm requests our assistance as consultants. For example, if a fugitive demon is powerful or skilled at hiding, they need our expertise to track them down.”
“So… our Divine Cultivation students have fewer opportunities to train in the human world?” I pressed.
Sister Mei’s expression darkened as she nodded. “Yes.”
Instantly, an indignant energy surged among us—a fiery mix of defiance and frustration. Strangely, this seemed to please Boss E and Sister Mei, who finally flashed approving smiles.
When we glanced back at the two immortal boys across the boundary, our gazes burned like wildfire.
Behind the immortals, a tall boy with short, ink-blue hair stepped forward quietly. A short, crystalline horn—jade-green and translucent—protruded from his forehead. His eyes simmered with resentment and stubborn pride.
He was likely the divine beast Si we were tasked to receive. Once he crossed into the Demon Realm, he’d be demoted to a mere “unicorn ox.”
Anyone would rage at being stripped of their godhood.
The two immortal boys flanking him smirked mockingly. Their disdain made it clear: divine beast descendants held little status in the Immortal Realm.
The arrogant one with flames streaking his hair suddenly flicked the horned boy’s horn.
What a jerk! I thought.
The Si boy slapped his hand away. The flame-haired immortal’s eyes turned icy, and he lunged for the horn again.
In a flash, a streak of violet light shot between them. A figure materialized in front of the horned boy—a dragon’s claw, shimmering indigo, clamped onto the flame-haired boy’s wrist.
Boss E and Sister Mei tensed instantly.
“Who the hell let Ming Jin come here?! This’ll start a disaster!” Boss E hissed.
The other immortal boy, his gray hair whipping in the air, summoned swirling dark energy that coiled around him like a serpent. His glare locked onto Ming Jin.
Another blur of white light—Xue Ling appeared beside Ming Jin, gripping his arm. “Calm down, Ming!”
It all happened in seconds. The four boys now stood in a deadlock, their murderous auras radiating through the massive screen before us. Many young demons froze in their seats, paralyzed by the tension.
Ming Jin glanced at Xue Ling, then slowly retracted his dragon claw.
So Ming Jin is a dragon… and he’s from the Ao clan!
As the four youths faced off at the boundary, their hostility thickened the air. Behind them, no one else dared approach.
The flame-haired immortal sneered, lifting his chin. “A dragon, huh? ‘Ming’… Wait, isn’t your full name Ao Ming? Is Ao Guang your grandfather? Ao Bing your father?”
Gasps erupted. “He’s Ao Ming? From the East Sea Dragon Royal Family?!”
“My idol’s even cooler than I thought! I thought he was just a regular dragon!”
Sister Mei silenced the chatter with a sharp glare. “As future boundary officials, everything you witness here is confidential.”
Everyone nodded like obedient chicks.
Ao Ming’s royal lineage was clearly a guarded secret at Eastern University—common in the Demon Realm, where many nobles hid their identities to avoid trouble.
Boss E grumbled, “Enough talk! Just get the kid over here!”
Sister Mei frowned. “I smell trouble.”
But the boys at the boundary only smirked, radiating arrogance as if they owned the world.
Ming Jin’s lips curled into a sinister grin, his demeanor a far cry from yesterday’s warmth. He taunted the flame-haired immortal, “Surprised you know so much about me. Want an autograph? Or a night in my bed?”
Xue Ling and the gray-haired immortal froze, their hostility momentarily derailed. The Si boy edged away, sensing impending chaos.
The provocation worked. The flame-haired boy’s hair erupted into blue fire. He raised his wrist, flashing a black-and-white bracelet. “Mutt, recognize this?”
Ming Jin’s dragon pupils narrowed—murderous intent flared.
Boss E zoomed in on the bracelet. A caption appeared: “Cosmic Ring—a relic of the Li Clan, wielded by the Third Prince.”
That bracelet… was the Cosmic Ring!
What do you think?
