Volume 14 Chapter 22: Returning Home

"At least we got the claws." The demon princess raised the bear claws. The magic stone was the most sought-after, but the other materials were nothing to scoff at.

"Now, let's get out of here. It smells." The smell of burnt meat and smoke would make anyone grimace. Carolyn and Scarlet nodded as the three touched the orb, sending them back into the lobby. It was time to return to the adventurers guild.

"Madison, we're back." The group headed over to the desk, where the receptionist greeted them, "Welcome back. How was your exploration?"

"Eventful."

"Here's all of the items that we've earned." The magic stones and the materials were placed on the counter. Madison examined all of the materials and magic stones for their quality. There were mounds of items before her.

Each woman placed a bag full of materials before her. Staring at the bags, Scarlet's lips curved upwards, "It seems I won the contest." Her pile was slightly bulkier than the two.

"It's all about quality rather than quantity." Alfia's pile had some high-tier magic stones. 

"We'll see." All three princesses glared at one another, ready to duke it out any moment.

Madison continued to analyze their drops before asking, “Where is the magic stone for the floor boss?” Only the claws were brought back with them, yet there were other valuable items to the boss. The hide and the magic stone. Claws were third on the list since they could be made into durable weapons.

“...Complications.” Carolyn looked away while the two stared at her. You mean you exterminated the monster and turned it into ash.

“Understood.” Madison nodded and then handed the coins over, “Thank you for all of the patronage."

"Who earned the most?"

"Carolyn." 

"Yippe!" Carolyn's arm shot up, which caused Scarlet and Alfia to kick rocks.

"Then I can do whatever I want, right?" A devious grin appeared.

"...Yeah." "Only if you can handle it." 

"..." Madison tilted her head. What did they have planned? It was clear Keith was involved in their competition.

The three women didn’t say much as they rushed home. After their exploration, they needed to return home to relax. Diana was the first person to greet them, “Welcome back, everyone. How was your trip outside?” 

“Fruitful.” The three had a goal they wanted to achieve, and they fulfilled them. They smiled, feeling accomplished of their achievement.

“For a second, I thought you three had run away.” Keith laughed as he walked over. That was the moment: Carolyn pounced, prepared to tackle him! However, Keith caught her by the scuff of her collar, "What do you think you're doing?"

“Hug, I need my Keith energy today.” Her eyes were so innocent as if her comment wasn't weird at all.

Sniff sniff. Keith instantly pulled his head back, “Go take a shower. You guys stink.” Being in the dungeon for quite some time would cause a stench.

Scarlet grinned, "But I want my Keith energy as well.” She jumped at him as well but was caught like a kitten. To make sure nothing happened, Keith also picked up the last one.

“Hey! I wasn’t going to jump.” Alfia felt wronged.

Keith shook his head, “Too bad. You’re getting the same treatment. Now, hit the showers.” He brought them to the bathroom and chucked them in.

“So mean!” Carolyn pouted. Before she had the chance to complain, she started to sniff the bath. Citrus.

The three girls didn’t hesitate to jump in, “This is the best thing ever.” They relaxed, and not a word was said. There was only relaxation and silence. Once they were finished, they were welcomed with an open meal, 

“What’s that I smell?”

“I made some croquette with rice and broccoli. I cooked it a few days ago.” 

“...” Carolyn and the two had no words as they took a bite. They couldn’t help but shed a tear as they ate. Herrick muttered, “A warm food when you come home from a day’s hard work would do good for the body, huh?” 

“It’s the best.” Alfia munched on a croquette as she savored the taste of pork filling her mouth. The same was true with the others as they couldn’t help but do the same. 

However, 

"Are you alright with eating all this?" There was no stopping those three. They were feasting on those croquettes like there was the last thing they had been eating. 

“Were you eating in the dungeon?” There was something wrong with this. You guys are supposed to be princesses! And you’re going to get a stomach hurting if you guys keep doing this. But Carolyn hissed.

Yes, hissed! 

“We haven’t eaten anything in such a long time! And I refuse when you make something so delicious!” Carolyn continued to eat while Scarlet and Alfia followed suit. They were going to eat everything that was before them.
