Volume 14 Chapter 21: One-Shot
Leftovers were something this mansion didn't need to worry about. Plus, fried food was common now. It was a food they adored, eating it with great fervor. Fira and the other spirits pushed their faces into those mashed potatoes.
Keith chuckled as he wiped Eri and Fira's faces, "You two. There's no need to eat like this. We have enough." He paused before adding, "And that also goes for you two." Cadmus and the others were munching down. They were piping hot, yet they ate them in handfuls.
"It's too good!"
"The crunch from it getting deep fried and then to the softness inside!"
Keith could only shake his head as he ate his meal quietly.
Finishing their meal, Keith did some stretches with Eri on the second island, where she tackled Gala and started to rub her face. The cow didn't mind and licked back.
Keith reminded, "Eri, be careful riding Gala."
"Okay! Gala! Go!" The fox girl rode on the cow's head, and it was feeding time. Keith watched the big cow waddle around, eating grass on the ground.
“Bzz.” Bei and the other dragon bees surrounded him, and Keith rubbed their faces sweetly.
“I see you guys have been increasing your ranks.” More dragon bees and the hives they had before increased in size. He doubted it was going to end here.
“Bzz.”
“No, I don't mind. Just be mindful of the others as well.” Despite the large beehive, there were no problems with it. It would take some time before he needed to adjust. The bees nestled him before they returned to work.
“Cooo.” “Heh.” Keith patted the fire bird on the head as she snuggled him.
…
While Keith was having the time to train and rest, the three princesses regrouped with one another. Scarlet laughed, “So, have you guys learned something these last few days?”
“What do you think?” Carolyn grinned. Dirt and grime. Each princess was covered in head to toe with it. Clearly, they had gone through intense training by themselves.
“I thought you guys had rolled around to make yourself look much better.” Alfia grinned.
“Shut up, and let's go get that floor boss.” That was the last goal the three girls had: face off against the floor boss to probe themselves.
With those one words, they headed off. As they headed up, that was when a bunch of monsters started to swarm them. Yet,
Boom! Slice! Splat!
The monsters were instantly blown to bits before they got a few meters close to the trio!
"So you guys have gotten strong." Alfia glanced at them.
"I could say the same to you." The trio headed forward, arriving at the gate.
Carolyn added, “How about we change our formation going forward?”
“Hmm?” "What do you have in mind?"
Their original formation was a triangle: each lady took a point, and the monster was in the center. They would fire multiple rounds, destroying through sheer firepower. It was perfect for the trio: Alfia could use her wind magic to escape, Scarlet was the same with shadow magic.
Carolyn's star magic could fight close range, so she was fine.
“I’m going to try and take out the boss with one blow.”
“...One blow?” The two princesses stared at one another. That was a tall order. Unless,
"Are you going to use grand-level magic?" That could definitely one-shot the monster.
“No. But it has similar firepower. But I need time to cast it. I need your help to distract the boss monster while I do so.” Unlike the two, she couldn’t run around and cast; anything could mess it up, which would cause a whole bunch of problems.
“Understood.” Scarlet nodded.
Alfia added, “Then we’ll move you in case of emergency.” They will have to draw them away.
“Thanks.” Like so, the three entered the boss floor only to find a giant humongous bear before them. Grey-white scales and claws protruded like blades as it glared down at the three.
Scarlet frowned, “This is going to be an interesting fight.”
“Move!” Alfia and Scarlet quickly made their move! The two instantly understood the objective as they started to fire.
Scarlet made the first move as she fired off her magic, “Inferno wave.” The wave of brilliant flame encased the bear's body! Despite the direct hit, that only caused Scarlet to frown as she shouted.
“That thing is fire resistant.” The bear's first target was her, but then came Alfia’s magic.
Boom! Waves of air magic started to assault the monsters. That was not the end as a giant fireball came flying from the opposite end. They continued to fire at the bear, not allowing it a chance to keep thinking. That was when a brilliant bright light was forming in front of him.
“Stardust!” Carolyn roared as she swung her blade down! A brilliant light enveloped the entire room, causing Scarlet and Alfia to take cover. And glancing over again, there was nothing before them.
“Woah?” “That came from a high-level magic?” This seemed more like grand-level magic rather than that. It was absurdly high. Carolyn grinned, “It’s powerful, but it requires a great deal of control.” She had to focus it all on one point, or it would have flown everywhere, injuring the others.
“But did you have to kill it off like this?”
“Huh?”
“You blew up the magic stone as well.” The bear’s body was definitely blown to bits. There was nothing that was there. Carolyn scratched her head, “My bad on that.”
What do you think?
