Volume 14 Chapter 20: Croquettes
While that happened in the dungeon, in another dungeon, "Orah!" Herrick and Melor were smashing through the blade bison before them. Unlike the three who were mages, they were strong bruisers.
Swoosh! A flying arrow pierced through the monster’s skin. Shadows loomed over the beasts as a rain of arrows came down, not giving them any moment to react. One bison charged at Melor, preparing to take him down with it. However, a blade easily passed through his side, cutting the bison's head off.
"Make sure to always be wary of your surroundings." Gabriel reminded him as he wiped his blade.
Melor smiled, "Thanks a lot." The group continued to fight till there were no monsters in sight. That caused the two to take a deep breath as Herrick muttered, "Alright, we can set up here."
"Mmhmm!" Setting up camp, they had taken a step to be calm. Herrick turned to Gabriel, "Gabriel, spar with me."
"Sure." Gabriel nodded as he took out a wooden sword. Herrick held one of his own as he fought with the man.
"How's your movement with the shield?"
"I'm getting used to it to a certain degree." Switching from a heavy sword to both the sword and shield was a substantial change. Gabriel added, "You could use only a heavy sword." The heavy sword could be used as a shield instead.
"I could. But that would mean I would have to change the way I fight. I don't want to do that. I'd rather have a sword and shield as secondary." A shield was more useful in those situations. It was more versatile.
"I see."
"Thanks for coming with us here."
"It's fine." Gabriel was taken aback when Herrick came to him. That made him follow him since he worried about these two heading to a dungeon.
"Having you hear really helped out a lot." Herrick laughed, "But I feel like you could be stronger."
"..."
...
Keith took a deep yawn as he got up from his bed. Getting up, he knew what he had to do today.
A delicious breakfast for Eri. Despite her mood being back up after what he promised, she was still slightly upset by his disappearance.
Even now,
“Eri, how are you holding me like this?” Koala. Her tiny arms were latched around his shoulders, holding herself onto his body. How are you latched on so tight? That was some strong grip strength she had. Does she have claws? But I don't feel it. Either way, the girl was still sleeping as she snuggled into his chest. Keith sighed,
Have to be extra careful. Keith couldn't just swing his body around. He took out a bunch of potatoes and peeled them up. Once he was done, boiling came next.
What kind of meat should I incorporate? He held his chin; multiple options came to mind. One would be shredded chicken, and the other would be ground beef. The ground beef mixture would be similar to the cottage pie mixture he had made. The shredded chicken was added to the onions. As he slowly cooked them,
Sniff sniff.
“Good morning, Eri.” Keith smiled as he stared down. The fox girl nodded, “Morning.” She didn't stop as he snuggled up to her body.
“...” Keith laughed, “Eri, how about you move down so I can work on your breakfast.”
“...” The fox girl didn't say anything as she slowly crawled on his body and went behind him.
“...” That could work. Keith laughed as he started to dice the lettuce and prepare the rice. While he continued, that was when he poked the potatoes. Perfect. The potatoes were nice and tender. That was when he started to mash them up. Making it into a round pancake, the filling was placed in the center. Wrapping it and rolling it, it became a round ball. This action was continued multiple times before there were a bunch.
Finally, frying came next.
The sound of a sizzling came before the two.
“Delish.” Eri's nose twitched rapidly as she leaned over Keith's shoulders, wanting to get a better whiff of it. But that caused Keith to gently nudge her body back, “Eri, don't lean. That's dangerous.”
“Okay.” Eri pulled back as he continued to fry them. After some time, some golden croquettes came out.
“Now let's have a-wait a moment, we need to brush our teeth.” Keith laughed as he headed to the bathroom. She clearly wanted to eat, but her father had spoken.
“Papa, help me brush.” Keith laughed as he picked the toothbrush up, “Okay.” He laughed as he helped her brush while he did the same as well. The two returned, and Keith made two sauces: a simple white sauce and the other was a sweet and tangy tomato sauce.
"Let's try now."
Crunch! There was a beautiful sound as they ate into it, but that was not the end. Keith added, “Diana, could you help bring the things over to the living room. It's time for us to eat." Rice, soup, croquette, and omelets. It was a simple meal. The star of the breakfast was the croquettes.
“Keith, this is delicious.”
“Glad you like it!” Keith chuckled. But then he muttered, “Old habits die hard. I made their share as well.” He had been making croquettes for the others, and the number was absurd. However,
“You don't need to worry about it!”
"We'll clean it up!"
"..." Okay then.
What do you think?
