Volume 1 Chapter 5: For Me?

Sophia watched her son. She could tell the birds had no intentions of harming him. However, Keith being swarmed by them was an entirely different matter. She was surprised. 

These birds didn’t care about other people. 

They usually mind their own business, not coming near humans. That was why it was strange to see them swarm Keith like that. 

Does my son have a charm? 

That could only be the case. Keith had the ability to attract people. Case in point with the maids. They displayed expressions they had never shown before. She didn’t mind it. The place became much livelier than before. And this was all due to Keith. 

I’ve probably changed as well. Sophia realized she had changed. 

While they watched Keith playing with the birds, a butler came. He was going to say something but paused when he saw the scene of Keith swarmed by birds.

“What’s the matter?” 

The butler explained, “Madam, someone wishes to speak with you today.” 

“Again?” Sophia scowled. She was sure there weren’t any meetings today. 

The butler explained, “They made the reservation a few weeks ago.”

“I see.” Sophia sighed as she got up and walked away. Before she left, she glanced at Keith and the birds before leaving. 

“Was that Young Master Keith?” The head butler, Carter, questioned. 

“Mmhmm.” 

“He’s quite the amazing child.” Carter saw the birds floating around Keith. That alone was fascinating.

“...Indeed.” Sophia nodded as she walked to the lobby. The people who came were business partners. 

While she listened to their conversation, her attention wasn’t focused on them. Keith was the only thing on her mind. 

This was a bore to her. It didn’t take long before she returned to the pergola. Eh? Something was different. The maids all had worried expressions as they were searching for something!

“What’s wrong?” 

“The young master went missing!” One of the maids explained

“!” Sophia’s eyes widened.     

A few minutes before Keith’s disappearance, Keith continued to play with the birds. It may look like they were playing. But Keith was hatching a plan. Can you guys listen to my commands? 

“Abbu! Abbu!”

The birds started to tweet to his word. 

“...” Silence. The birds only looked at Keith. He understood his words weren’t going to work. Hmm? What to do? Maybe I could use motions. Keith started to twist his hand around. 

When he did that, the birds listened! 

They started to spin around! That caused Keith to brighten! Yay! So, you guys can listen as long as I use hand motions! This could help me! Keith thought as he pointed at a flower. When they saw him point, the birds started to tweet!

The birds quickly flew around him. The maids stared at the sight in awe. It was a rainbow tornado of birds. That was when Keith made his move as he crawled away from the group. 

He followed the bird that was perched on his head before. He had to go through some bushes and shrubs. Keith didn’t know how long he had left, but it seemed he had gotten far. 

As he followed the birds, he realized there was something shiny at the end of it. 

The bird tweeted by this flower. It was similar to a rose. But it wasn’t any ordinary rose. Instead, it was translucent like a crystal! As sunlight shined down, it created a rainbow. 

Oh! I want that! Looking at it, Keith knew he had to get it. He crawled up and tried to pull it out.  

What the? As he pulled, it was stuck to the ground. Keith kept pulling, but his fingers were weak, and he slipped and fell on his butt. 

Keith stared at it. This was the first trial! And he was going to accomplish it! As he tried again to pull it out, the birds flew beside him, cheering him on!

The maids were distressed as they continued their search! But it was nothing compared to the expression Sophia had. 

Where could he have gone?! 

The distress on her face was even more so than the maids. She didn’t realize it. But Keith had become an important piece of her life. 

That smile was the thing that brought her happiness and calmness. 

And now this person was missing. Sophia continued to search with a worried expression. But when she thought about what to do,

“Madam! We found him!” One of the maids shouted! When Sophia heard that, she quickly rushed toward the maid’s side. She saw Keith in one of the maid’s arms. Without any hesitation, she took her child off the maid’s hands! 

“Where did you go?! How could you disappear like that?!” Sophia scolded and lectured her son. But it seemed her son didn’t listen as he had a smile on his face. 

It seemed Keith had gone through something. His face and body were covered with dirt. While Sophia wondered what he had gone through, 

“Abba!” Keith raised up the crystal rose in his hand. When Sophia saw that, she blinked. 

“Where did you find this?” Sophia had never seen a flower like that before. She had no recollection of this flower ever being planted in the estate.

“Abba Abba!” Keith raised it even higher to Sophia. Sophia blinked a few more times, not understanding what he was doing. But then she questioned, 

“…Are you giving this to me?” 

“Abba!” Keith gave an adorable smile as he handed it to her. 

“...” He did all of this for me? Something swelled up inside her when she saw the rose and the bright smile on Keith’s face. It was a clumsy smile yet full of pride. Sophia’s expression loosened up, and a smile formed.

Finally! Keith looked proud as he saw his mother smiling.

“Thank you so much.” Sophia brought Keith up and kissed his cheeks. That caused Keith to giggle. Like that, their relationship became closer than ever before.
