Volume 1 Chapter 16: Is There Something Wrong With Me?

Volume 1 Chapter 16: Is There Something Wrong With Me?

Aria was a Blizzard Owl. As the name suggested, it could use ice, water, and wind magic in tandem. It was a fierce animal that could destroy predators many times larger than them.

These owls were considered to be an apex predator.

But they were also known to be impossible to tame. What was more, they were fierce and hostile to outsiders. It was considered a miracle that William contracted one.

William sipped his tea and explained, "I don't know either." He was surprised by this as well. Even though the owl was contracted to him, that didn't mean it was cordial.

It was a lone wolf that did whatever it wanted. That was why when William looked into the owl's thoughts, he was surprised to see it was close to Keith.

Looking at it playing with Keith, anyone would have thought it wasn't his familar but his son instead.

"Our son is amazing." Sophia gave a light chuckle. While they talked, Keith tossed a ball, and Aria brought it back without a thought. Keith gave it a thumbs up, signaling a good job.

"Keith, it's time to eat." Sophia realized it was time for Keith to be fed. Hearing that, Keith crawled to the two. Sophia had a bottle ready as she picked him up. As she was about to feed Keith,

"Do you want to feed him?" She noticed William staring at Keith and the bottle.

"How do I do it?" Sophia taught him how to hold his son. As he fed Keith, Sophia stared at the two.

Never could she imagine her husband feeding their son.

It was a warm sight. As the two watched Keith eat, Carter arrived, "Master, there are people who wish to see you."

William's expression turned dark, "They can wait."

"Hmm?"

"I'm feeding my son." William was cold as he returned to feeding Keith. There was nothing else Carter could say. When he was done feeding Keith, Keith raised his hand and pointed at Aria. He looked at William,

"Ahh! Ahh!"

"Hmm? Do you want to eat it?" William asked.

"..." I don't want to eat Aria!

Sophia shook her head and clarified, "I think he wants to feed it."

William frowned, "Let's not."

"Ah?" Why not? Keith started to tear up when he heard that. William and Sophia's eyes widened. This was a first for both parents.

William quickly explained, "The owl doesn't like to be fed." The owl found its own food to eat. William tried to feed it before, but it almost bit off his finger.

That was when he knew: it did not like to be fed.

But those words didn't register with Keith as he was about to cry. A teardrop rolled down his cheek. That did it. William sighed as he stared at Aria. Its expression was tense as it stared at Keith. The owl was worried about Keith. Maybe it could work. He turned to Carter, "Bring some dried meat over."

"Understood." When Keith heard that, his expression brightened. It didn't take long before Carter brought some meat back.

William took a piece of meat and handed it to Aria. Aria shook its head away from his hand.

"See. It doesn't want to eat it." "Keith, it's not a social creature," Sophia added. But Keith didn't listen as he took a piece off the plate.

"Ey!" Keith raised the meat to Aria's beak. Blinking a couple of times, the owl took a bite.

"Eh?" "Huh?" The two adults let out gasps as they witnessed the scene. It was such a dumbfounding sight. Keith wasn't done as he grabbed another piece to feed Aria.

And the owl ate it again. The two kept doing it until the meat was gone. Aria licked Keith's hands, thanking him.

"..Is there something wrong with me?" William felt something off. How could his son feed his contracted beast while he couldn't?

"...I think this has to do more with Keith than your relationship with it." Sophia tried to cheer him up.

Their son was amazing. It had nothing to do with William's bond with the owl.

"Kwak!" Aria cried as it got close to Keith and nestled its head into Keith's chest again.

No problem! Keith understood what it wanted as he patted its head.

"..." William and Sophia said nothing. This sight was too adorable. William got up from the seat and handed Keith to Sophia, "I'm going to go now. I'll see you later, Keith. And you too, Wife." William's expression softened as he left.

"I'll see you later, Dear," Sophia responded with a smile.

Bye-bye, Father! "Ah!" Keith raised his hand into the air, waving goodbye.

While this happened, another rumor spread throughout the estate. The fourth son had tamed the legendary Blizzard Owl!
