CH.603 Egg of Light and Flame
CH.603 Egg of Light and Flame
[Brian POV]
I didn’t take in the sights, just flew as fast as Victory Viper could go. Sadly it does have a speed limit of mach 25. I never really fly it faster than mach 20, because there is no need, but mach 25 is the limit of the atmospheric dampeners with the air pressure we are working with. So if I went any faster, the dampeners couldn’t deal with the sonic booms and the sheer power of them would damage the ship.
In what must have been not all that long, but what felt like forever to me, we reached the place where we were heading.
How did I know this was the place? Well, the giant killer whale with a black body and purple outlines was a dead giveaway.
I honestly questioned what Unika was doing when I heard that she was going to try to solo tame a monster that might be more powerful than an SS-rank, but she clearly had a plan.
Chacu Challhua would keep whatever monster was here from attacking Unika, and Chacu Challhua could also weaken them with its effect, so Unika could take her time, slowly whittling away the monster's HP, until it would agree to the contract.
As we were on our final approach, a blinding light began to shine at the top of the mountain. It made me more than a bit worried. Did the monster figure some way around Chacu Challhua’s effect?
The blinding light shone for some time, so I began to slow down the ship so I could open the canopy. And as soon as it was open, I flew out of the ship using the Numeron Code flight.
By the time I was out, the light had begun to dim, revealing something that looked like an egg. I couldn’t quite see the ‘egg shell’ yet, as it was still shining softly, but by the time I had landed next to it, the shine had ended completely.
And so, I saw the egg. It was made of a clear crystal, allowing me to see what was inside. I was expecting to see both Unika and the monster she was here to tame, but I only saw Unika.
But not quite the Unika she was when she left for her adventure.
She now had nine tails, instead of just two. Her hair was a lot longer, and it had streaks of red and yellow mixed in, and her ears were a bit longer. Her eyes were closed, but I could still see them shining softly under her eyelids.
I then checked her active duel disk, and from what I could see, she only had the custom Earthbound Immortal Field Spell, as well as Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua on it. There were also a few set cards in the Spell and Trap zones, but they hadn’t been activated, so I didn’t have to worry about those.
But the Earthbound Immortal and the Field Spell, they might start to cause problems if Unika doesn’t deactivate them.
I flew up to Chacu Challhua, asking it how long it had been summoned. Luckily it still had time, so I was in no hurry to deal with it, and since Unika likely activated the Field Spell just before summoning Chacu Challhua, I had time.
By the time I returned to the crystal egg, Einar had gotten out of Victory Viper and flown down to the egg.
“... Master.” He said to get my attention. “... is she alright?”
“I don’t know yet.” I admitted. I placed my hand on the egg shell and felt for the mana running through it. I also used both Mana and Miasma vision to see what was happening.
The egg was almost overflowing with mana. To the point where I would be alarmed if all of it entered Unika’s body at one time. Luckily her body seemed to have its mana at only slightly heightened levels. But her mana wasn’t just her mana.
She had two different sources of mana inside her body.
She had her own mana, naturally, but she also had another source of mana. One that seemed to be light and fire attributed. That must be the monster Unika was fighting.
“... Einar. What monster did Unika come to tame?” I asked. I had heard it already, but I honestly was panicking enough that I might be wrong.
“... An area ruler called the Great Solar Flare Fox, Stella.” Einar answered.
“I see …” I muttered.
So Unika somehow entered a reverse union with this Stella, and now they are … fighting mentally? Maybe? Or did that happen earlier and this is the end result of their fight?
I watched Unika and Stella’s mana closely, and noticed that neither was trying to be aggressive. So they probably aren’t fighting. It is more like Unika’s mana is … comforting Stella’s mana?
Man. I wish Alice was here. She is the one with two souls. It would be way easier to solve this mess if I could compare her to Unika.
… two souls … two mana sources in one body … two souls, a monster and a human soul in one body. One comforting the other. And an egg covering their body, holding a massive amount of mana. Mana that is slowly entering Unika’s body, as her body is using the mana it has to do something.
“... they are evolving…” I deduced. The egg was a similar protective shell that held back the excess power, like what happened with Miracle Evolution Egg and Cocoon of Evolution.
“They? Master, what is happening?” Einar asked.
“Unika and Stella somehow entered a reverse union. And now they are becoming one. Likely permanently.”
“How do you know?”
“It happened with Alice and Mana.” I told him. “It isn’t quite the same, as with them, I fused Alice and Mana together with Polymerization. But they evolved when they were fused and they stayed fused, permanently.” I know Einar had heard this before, but I recapped it just in case. “Something similar is happening with Unika and Stella. I don’t know why, but for some reason, Stella is submitting to Unika. And for some other reason, maybe because they are both foxes or maybe because they both share the Fire attribute, they are now becoming one.”
“Is … is that bad?” Einar asked.
“No clue.” I admitted. “In theory, it is good. But it depends. This can really alter Unika’s personality, but it is also possible that it won’t. All we can do is wait and see, as interrupting it at this point is more danger than it is worth.” I saw Einar have a hesitating look on his face, so I continued. “Even if Stella somehow takes over Unika’s body, I can help Unika regain control. As long as Unika doesn’t completely lose herself in the process. If that happens, Unika will essentially be dead, and I likely won’t be able to resurrect her.”
Me saying that didn’t help Einar at all, so I told him more.
“But I don’t think that will happen. As I said, Stella has submitted to Unika. They aren’t fighting for dominance. Unika is the dominant force in the body, so she shouldn’t lose. If she was about to, I would break open the egg and help her.”
“... So we wait?” Einar asked.
“We don’t really have a different choice.” I responded.
Since that was now decided, I focused back on the Earthbound problem we will soon have.
Chacu Challhua can only stay summoned for so long before it starts to cause problems, and since Unika can’t exactly unsummon him while she is evolving, I’ll have to deal with him.
Sadly, with Earthbound Geoglyph, most of my options of getting rid of Chacu Challhua won’t work.
Luckily most doesn’t mean all, and I can just deal with Geoglyph first. So I activated Giant Trunade to return all Spells and Traps to hand, deactivating Earthbound Geoglyph in the process.
And since there was no Field Spell active anymore, Chacu Challhua was destroyed. So I played Foolish Return, so I could return the Earthbound Immortal to Unika’s deck. It wasn’t required, but I have the card, so I did it.
Now that the time limit caused by the Earthbound Immortal had been solved, we could return to Unika and the crystal egg she was contained in.
Naturally I wanted to bring her home, but I wasn’t sure if it was safe. It should be, but evolutions are always a questionable thing. But I decided I’d at least try to move the egg and see what will happen.
So I took a gentle hold of the egg with both Magical Arms and Telekinesis, before slowly lifting it off the ground. I also made sure to observe the egg closely, in case something went wrong with it.
But it looks like everything is fine with the egg, and I could bring it home.
I unsummoned my Victory Viper and summoned B.E.S. Blaster Cannon Core. I loaded the egg into the ship, had Einar take command of the ship, and we headed back towards the portal.
On our way back, we ran into a disturbance. One that was in the form of a large sky dragon.
I really didn’t want to have to deal with something like that, but I wasn’t going to take chances with Unika’s egg in Blaster Cannon Core, so I headed outside and confronted the dragon.
Luckily for us, the dragon wasn’t aggressive, and instead wanted to know who we were and why we were traversing his skies. After a quick explanation, he let us go.
As I returned to the ship, Einar told me that the dragon was most likely the Great Sky Dragon, Uṛanta. The Great Earth Beast had told them about him, and he was seen as a benevolent force who protected the area. That is why he stopped us and asked what we were doing, or so Einar theorized.
I’ll come back and play with the dragon later, if he wants to have fun. I’m not sure if he does, but dragons usually like fighting. Maybe I can even get a contract with this sky dragon.
We reached the portal and I sent Einar down first to secure the area. After he confirmed it was clear, I took Unika’s egg and beamed us down.
Einar had already opened the light fence on this side, so I entered the fenced off area and carried the egg through the portal.
I made sure to keep a very close eye on the mana use of the egg. Stella is a summonable monster, so there is a chance that she will require extra mana now that she is on this side.
And from the looks of it, I was right. The egg began to use mana at a slightly accelerated rate compared to when it was on the other side. It still had plenty, but depending on how long the evolution will last, there might be some problems.
So I got to work making a mana room. Basically just a room that can contain a higher than average mana atmosphere.
I had already made a mana spring, so making a room wasn’t difficult. I placed Unika’s egg in the room and carefully looked at the eggs mana levels, so we wouldn’t overload it, but that it had enough for the evolution.
With the egg now stable, I allowed others to see it. Despite it appearing kind of like a final memorial, it was very beautiful.
Olia was especially worried, despite me reassuring her that Unika was fine. She had heard Indigo and the Wild Pack saying that Unika was going to take on a monster she had no chance of winning against. And since Olia can’t see mana like I can, she was worried Unika was already dead, and I placed her in the egg because I couldn’t resurrect her.
I let her doubt me as much as she wanted, because at the end of the day, if I wasn’t able to see Unika and Stella’s mana inside Unika’s body, I would also doubt her being alive.
What do you think?
