CH.571 To the Empire
CH.571 To the Empire
Eventually the day we’d head to the Empire came. I didn’t take too many people with me, as I didn’t want to go overboard. From my fiancées, only Janina was coming with me.
And I’m not talking about her scale copy that lives on HomeBase. For this trip, I got the real deal. Her full might as a dragon. Though contained in her humanoid form.
Ever since her little injury, and me basically making a ‘leader’ system in the Dragon Coast, Janina has had less arguments she has had to solve, so she was able to leave the coast to come on a trip with me.
As for why I wanted Janina, well, do I need to say why I want her?
She is arguably the most powerful being on the continent. And the Empire is the only country that regularly trades materials with the Dragon Coast, as they are the ones who have access to it.
So the people in the Empire should definitely be aware of Janina. And since they know of her, I can use her as a crutch to make sure the Empire doesn’t try to strong-arm us into doing anything we don’t want to.
For servants, I brought Ria and Janina borrowed Kayla, Paulina’s personal maid. Janina doesn’t have a personal maid, and while she could have ‘forced’ a dragon to take that role, she decided to bring someone trained for the job.
I’ll make sure we get her a personal maid now that I realized the lack of one can affect things. It won’t be a money or training issue. We can just get whomever Janina wants and train them for the job.
I wonder if one of the dragons would agree to it? Maybe? I’m pretty sure the young dragons are adventurous, so maybe one of them? Or is a maid's job too boring? Then again, because it is a maid’s job on HomeBase, you do have good time off and other benefits. Including access to the HomeBase dungeon if you prove you can handle yourself. And any dragon should be able to handle themselves.
So yeah. I’m sure I can talk a dragon into it.
We headed out in B.E.S. Big Core, and in very little time, we were over the capital, and I beamed the four of us down.
The gate guards led us inside the castle grounds, where Cressida guided us to where Elias’ entourage was gathered. She then went to fetch the Prince.
While that was going on, I talked with the people Elias was bringing. Mostly about all the stuff they had. I made sure they had a detailed inventory of everything, and then I took everything they wouldn’t need for the flight into my Storage.
Sure the B.E.S. ships could carry it all, but Storage is more convenient. Especially since we have things like carriages that we’d have to load into the ships otherwise.
After Elias arrived, I summoned the next B.E.S. This time, Blaster Cannon Core.
We will be taking this ship all the way to Crystal City, the capital of the Crystal Empire.
Now normally a country would never bring an airship into a different county, unless they have some sort of a development pact with them, or if they can make sure no one will be able to study the ship while it is parked. But luckily for us, my ship is a summoned monster, so we don’t have that issue.
I know it is something that annoyed the Hero’s Country’s mechanics when I first visited, but now we can use that to avoid the Empire learning anything.
The flight over went peacefully, as is to be expected in my ships. We fly high enough where most monsters can’t get that high.
I spent the flight playing some Yugioh with Elias. Lucky for us, since I had all the decks from both of the tournaments in Storage, we had plenty of decks to choose from, so the duels weren’t just the two of us using the same decks over and over again.
As we got closer to Crystal City, I turned off the invisibility of Blaster Cannon Core and ordered a descent. I didn’t want the ship to just appear out of nowhere. Sure Elias, or whomever did the communication with the Empire, had told them we’d arrive on an airship. But we can’t just have one appear out of nowhere above the city.
They might assume that it is an attack, and even if they don’t, they’ll assume we have the skills to teleport an entire airship.
And while eventually I’ll be able to do that, I’m not there yet. … I wonder if the Numeron Code’s teleportation would be able to teleport an entire ship? Probably yes? It is the Numeron Code after all.
Eventually the city came into view, and it was pretty large. Definitely larger than Ruiso Royal Capital.
Near the center of the city stood a massive castle that was made out of white stone that was probably quartz. It also had plenty of crystal structures at the peaks of its towers, giving it a fantastical appearance.
The airstrip, or I suppose airship station, we would be landing at wasn’t too far from the castle, but sadly, because of the size of my B.E.S. ship, we couldn’t land directly, and instead, I beamed us all down. Not all at once, but in smaller groups, my group being the last.
On the ground, a decent group of both soldiers and civil officials were waiting for us. They were already talking to Elias and Cressida by the time we got down to the ground.
I then unsummoned our ship, which quickly seized all conversation, since our ship just vanished.
But I didn’t really care that much. They can ponder what happened all they want. I have stuff to do. So I just began bringing out Elias’ stuff from Storage, which seemingly brought back people’s ability to think, as they went back to doing what they had been doing.
Maybe they think I can take an entire airship into my Storage? Admittedly, I think I can do that. I had the entire corpse of the world treant in Storage after all, and that thing is almost twice as long as my B.E.S. ships. Also, I said had, since we’ve used about 20% of the tree. Though most of that has been material that ended up being wasted, being left unused as shavings or wood dust. I still have a lot of it in Storage, so in truth we’ve barely used 1%.
I didn’t leave the shavings and stuff in nature as I’ve been pondering if we could use it for compost or something like that. I mean, world treant wood has a lot of mana in it, so it feels like a waste to throw it away. And maybe some monsters would eat the shavings and sawdust, which might even make them evolve.
You can even just eat the sawdust left from world treant wood, you know. And thanks to Storage, I know it is pure sawdust and no other stuff in it. It is actually really filling, despite not really having all of the nutrients you need. But thanks to the mana, it can somewhat make up for it. Kind of like a low tier healing potion.
I think if we had an alchemist on payroll, we could make some high tier potions using the sawdust as an ingredient. And that is if we don’t use stuff like world treant sap.
Eventually, we were guided away from the airstrip and towards the castle. We didn’t go all the way to the castle today, instead, we were just brought inside the outer walls where we were shown to two guest manors. One for me and one for Elias.
The Empire’s Crystal Castle had three main walls, by the way. The outer wall, which we are inside right now. I don’t know what all it houses, as we didn’t get a tour, and we weren’t that high with Blaster Cannon Core as we arrived in the city where we would have been able to spot everything.
But I think the outer wall houses at least barracks for the knights, and there seem to be some number of guest manors as well.
Speaking about the manor, it was nice. For a guest manor, really nice. Most of them, that I’ve seen in the three Kingdoms, are on the smaller side, only being about the size of a regular house. Sure that might not sound small, but it kind of is.
But these ones are manors that lower ranked nobles wouldn’t be ashamed of owning.
Janina and I picked the master bedroom, even though we wouldn’t be using it. Well, maybe on some days, but most of the time, we won’t need it.
Because all I did was set a teleport slate in the room, before I teleported the two of us home.
I’ve gotten pretty good at Teleport to Slate. So I can just teleport us to HomeBase, as long as we have a return option.
I then called Kayla to confirm our phones would reach Crystal City. I wasn’t sure, because while I knew our Celfon network reached everywhere in the three Kingdoms, the Empire might be too far.
But lucky us, it worked fine enough. The signal wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t awful either.
I need to see if the Empire will allow me to plant mana flowers within their lands. That way I can extend both the Celfon network and my navigation network. And when I eventually roll out the patch that will allow the use of the Internet, those relay stations will be able to do that as well.
But that is for the future. For now, we are able to just hang out on HomeBase while the Empire doesn’t need us. And if they need us, Ria, Kayla or whoever we have standing by in the Empire can give us a call, and we’ll be able to just teleport there within a couple minutes.
And naturally the one there doesn’t have to be Ria or Kayla. I can teleport them back here as well.
Originally I planned on having a monster in an avatar doll doing that job, but I really don’t want the Empire to figure out what I did and try to look into the avatar dolls. Sure they most likely will never figure it out, and even if they did, they probably wouldn’t dare to ‘kill’ someone just so they can see if they are actually a person inside a soul doll.
Soul doll. That is actually a good name for dragon avatars. I should mention that to Janina.
But for now, I have some paperwork to look over, and then I think I’ll work on my Smartfon design, and maybe on my Internet idea. Just so those can eventually be released to the public.
What do you think?
