You didn’t accept my confession, why are you crying because I changed my mind?

Chapter 25 - The Person Destined to be My Wife

Chapter 25: The Person Destined to be My Wife

Amidst the applause, Jiang Zhou calmly stepped down from the podium.

But instead of heading toward the group of boys, he walked to the third row of the classroom and naturally sat next to a girl wearing black-rimmed glasses.

This girl wasn’t pretty and had no distinctive features. At most, she was a typical face in the crowd.

Everyone around was surprised.

Wasn’t Huang Qi, the girl who had been flirting with Jiang Zhou, a total beauty?

Why did he ignore her and strike up a conversation with an ordinary-looking girl instead?

Did he have a thing for this type?

“Hi, I’m Jiang Zhou,” he said.

“I’m Ding Yue. Oh, and thanks for the milk tea,” she replied.

Jiang Zhou nodded politely. “Hey, can I ask you something?”

Ding Yue blinked. “We’re not exactly close.”

“I just want to know if any of your dorm mates go by the name Feng Siruo?”

“How do you know that?”

History hasn’t changed!

Jiang Zhou breathed a sigh of relief.

“Then how come she didn’t show up to the freshman meeting today?”

Ding Yue eyed him warily. “Why are you asking?”

“I had my fortune told. A girl named Feng Siruo is destined to marry me.”

“Hey! Don’t talk nonsense. Siruo doesn’t date in college! You totally look like a player, so don’t go messing with her.”

Jiang Zhou adjusted his sleeve. “You can tell I’m a player just by looking?”

Ding Yue frowned and pointed forward. “If you’re not, how do you explain that?”

Huh?

What does that mean?

Jiang Zhou looked up and noticed Huang Qi had been staring at him. A crumpled note was tossed from her hand.

[Brother Zhao asked me to help you with something.]

Tsk tsk.

This is just the first meeting!

Isn’t this a bit much?

Jiang Zhou stuffed the note into his pocket. “We’ll discuss the ‘player’ thing later. First, just tell me where Feng Siruo is.”

Ding Yue snorted. “Looks like that Huang Qi likes you. Why don’t you go mess with her instead?”

“No can do. There are still six hours until 10:30.”

“What?”

“I meant, I’m not going to do anything bad. Come on, tell me pretty please. For the sake of the milk tea?”

Sure enough, when someone gives you something, it’s hard to say no.

Ding Yue glanced at her milk tea. “She got pulled away by a sophomore to help with something.”

Jiang Zhou blinked. “Help with what?”

“The school’s holding a welcome party for freshmen. She’s too pretty, so they roped her into performing.”

“But she doesn’t have any performance skills. What’s she going to do?”

Ding Yue was genuinely surprised. “She said the same thing! How do you know her so well?”

Jiang Zhou didn’t answer. “Just tell me. What’s she performing?”

“She’s not performing. Just walking around on stage is already considered a ‘talent.’”

“Fair enough. No wonder she’s my future wife.”

Ding Yue gave him a glare. “Quit calling her that in public! She’ll cry!”

Jiang Zhou stretched lazily. “She cries, huh? Must be a lot of water if I pinch her.”

“You perv! I’m telling the teacher!”

“This is university, sis. No teacher cares about this kinda stuff.”

“Well, you better behave. She’s a good girl.”

“Alright, alright. Got it.” Jiang Zhou returned to his seat, a little frustrated.

He hadn’t even seen his future wife yet, and she was already being dragged away by some random sophomore.

Welcome party? More like a snoozefest of cringey singing and dancing.

Then again, it made sense.

As low-key as Feng Siruo liked to be, her looks made that impossible.

Even wearing a mask, she couldn’t hide that face.

Just then, Jiang Zhou’s phone buzzed. The brown bear keychain attached to it lit up and blinked.

Buzz buzz buzz!

“Jiang Zhou, can you eat with me later?”

Buzz buzz buzz!

“It’s just… everything’s new, and I’m still getting used to the place. Everyone feels like strangers.”

Buzz buzz buzz!

“I… I want to see you //cry emoji//”

Chu Yuwei’s kitten profile picture kept popping up.

Jiang Zhou opened his phone: “Did you forget what you’re supposed to call me?”

“Daddy, can we eat together?”

“You said Zheng Yu was going to find you, right? Eat with him. I won’t bother you.”

She replied instantly: “I didn’t ask him to come. I already told him I wasn’t interested. Don’t misunderstand.”

“I’m not anyone special to you. Why would I misunderstand?”

“If you don’t like him, I can block him.”

Jiang Zhou suddenly felt a little sorry for Zheng Yu.

Yep.

Simps never get spring.

No matter how passionately you simp — even crossing the whole city to do so — you still end up the loser.

Still, he figured eating with this girl wasn’t a bad idea, especially since he wouldn’t be seeing his real wife today.

Jiang Zhou thought for a moment. “What do I get out of eating with you?”

Chu Yuwei paused for a while before replying: “I’ll be your girlfriend for a day.”

“Heh. Is this your way of testing loyalty from potential ‘cadres’?”

“Cadres?”

Jiang Zhou lost interest. “We’ll see. I might be busy later.”

“That’s okay. I’ll wait for you, no matter how late it gets.”

“Stop simping.”

“Okay…”

At that moment, his three dormmates came over.

Zhang Guangfa adjusted his glasses. “Jiang Zhou, busy guy huh? You online dating too?”

Jiang Zhou smiled. “Some campus beauty from the neighboring school insisted on having dinner with me. I’m so annoyed.”

“Neighboring school?”

“Qingbei University. Someone at Chu Yuwei’s level.”

Xu Haodong couldn’t take it anymore. “You’d die if you stopped bragging for once, huh?!”

Jiang Zhou stuffed his phone back into his pocket. “Bragging makes me feel alive.”

By 5 p.m., the sky was darkening.

Leaving the School of Finance building, Jiang Zhou made his way back to the Ashui Big Cup Tea store at the campus gate.

If he wanted to launch his food delivery platform, this location was crucial.

He had to negotiate with the shop owner.

Two hours later…

Thanks to his silver tongue, thick-skinned charm of a 35-year-old soul, and generous payment in cash, he finally convinced the owner to transfer the shop to him.

No surprise, considering how much he offered!

After leaving the milk tea shop, Jiang Zhou opened his QQ and messaged Han Rou.

“Sis, you there?”

“Yep. What’s up?”

“I want to start a business in college. Where do I apply?”

“Room A202 is the Student Entrepreneur Office. Go apply there.”

“Where can I print ads?”

“The student union has a color printer. Leave it to me.”

“Also help me find someone from the Info Tech department who can build a website. Paid gig.”

“Consider it done!”

“Such a good girl. I’ll treat you to a meal tomorrow.”
