Chapter 983 Mama Likes To Show Off
Chapter 983 Mama Likes To Show Off
Mother placed me down on my feet before turning to face the camp in the clearing.
"Mary? Won't you go check them just in case?"
The Trasif maid bowed, "Of course, Madam."
Eh? How is she going to check? Actually… What is she even checking for?
Mary turned back to the clearing and walked towards it casually, stepping out into the camp like she was meant to be there.
That got the attention of everyone in the camp as they all turned to see their new visitor, several of them expressing surprise at her presence.
"Who… How? A maid?"
"Intruder?"
"What the hell?!"
"Hey… Relax… The enchantment should still be working. Don't do anything to break it. She probably wandered here by accident."
Hearing the words from the last guy, everyone relaxed and went back to doing what they were doing before Mary entered the camp.
Mary stopped by the campfire and turned to address the people around her, "Greetings everyone."
Silence settled over the camp before it exploded into a flurry of activity, most of them going for their weapons to surround her.
Mary didn't look too worried and simply waited for them to calm down before she started speaking again.
"I would like to know if all of you are involved in a group that is trying to overthrow the Gods?"
Someone dashed forward and slashed his sword towards Mary's neck without warning.
Mary did not move from her position and the blade slashed through her neck, cutting her head off.
I gasped and was just about to rush forward when Mother pulled me back, stopping me from rushing there.
I looked back at her questioningly but she just smiled at me before nodding in the direction of the camp.
I turned back and realised that despite having her head cut off, Mary's body still remained standing instead of falling over.
The guy who cut off Mary's head frowned at the body that was still standing in front of him, clearly confused how Mary's headless body was still standing.
He reached out his hand to try and touch her when Mary's headless body raised her right arm which transformed into some kind of organic scythe and slashed down to cut off that guy's arm.
The limb flew through the air and dropped on the ground with a soft thump, blood spurting out from the wound and creating a pool of blood on the ground.
The guy stared at the stump on his arm, his mind needing another moment to fully comprehend what had happened to him before he let out a scream and fell backwards while clutching his arm.
I watched as Mary's neck seemed to melt away before a mass of flesh popped up to form her head once more, making it seem like nothing had happened at all.
She lowered her arm and it returned back to normal, the Trasif maid completely ignoring the screaming guy to address the crowd again.
"As I was saying, are all of you involved or affiliated with a group that is trying to overthrow the Gods?"
Instead of answering her, all of the people in the camp drew their weapons to point at her.
"Kill her!!"
"Don't let her escape!!"
"Attack!!"
Mary didn't panic at the sight of all of them rushing at her as she leapt into the air and transformed her arms into tentacles which she used to smash against the crowd, sending them all flying back.
Mother let out a giggle before turning to me, "My little one~ Mama will have to trouble you to check if all of these little morons are all Off-Worlders?"
Err… Ok?
I used [Screened] to quickly check the ones that I could see, only paying attention to the titles to look for the 'Off-Worlder' term.
"Ermm… It seems like at least most of them are, Mommy…" I concluded.
I couldn't really check everyone since they were all moving around and making it hard for me to keep track of who I had scanned and who I had not.
Mother patted me on the head, "Ufufufu~ That is good enough~ Mama will deal with them now~"
Ohhh~ Mother is finally going to deal with them personally? This I have to see!
She turned to the other maid that had stayed behind this entire time, "I'm leaving my little one in your care~"
The maid gave her a deep bow, "I will protect her with my life, Madam."
Seemingly satisfied by her response, Mother started making her way towards the camp where most of it was already destroyed by Mary.
It was obvious that Mary was holding back since no one had died yet and it seems like the Off-Worlders were also holding back since one of them let out a shout at the others.
"We can't go easy anymore! We have to take her down! Come on!"
A few of the Off-Worlders sheathed their weapons and started chanting spells with their palms pointed at Mary, the maid not looking concerned in the slightest as her tentacle arms continued to smash into any attackers trying to reach her.
Incidentally, either by chance or design, Mary was now on the opposite side of us which meant that the Off-Worlders were currently in between Mary and us.
So when Mother entered the clearing, the Off-Worlder's backs were all facing her and no one even realised she was there.
Several spells were then launched towards Mary and I was expecting to see some kind of explosion but Mother snapped her fingers and everything suddenly stopped moving.
I looked around and I realised it wasn't just the clearing but it seems like the entire world had stopped moving. The leaves that were floating through the air above me had also froze in midair and a bird that just happened to be flying above had also stopped moving.
Looking back at the clearing, Mary seemed to be the only one who wasn't affected in that area and she simply retracted her hands, gave Mother a deep bow before strolling out of the clearing to join my side.
Umm… What is Mother planning on doing?
Mother snapped her fingers again and the world started to move again, the spells the Off-Worlders had cast exploding at where Mary had been before she moved away, throwing up a dust cloud.
The Off-Worlders took that moment to breathe as they watched the dust cloud carefully, all of them still thinking that Mary was there.
"Did… Did we get her?" One of them asked.
Another guy slapped him on the head, "Don't say that! Don't you know that when someone says that, it would mean that the enemy wasn't defeated?! Are you even sure you're one of us?!"
At that moment, Mother clapped her hands together, the sound causing most of the Off-Worlders to jump in surprise before turning to look in Mother's direction.
I thought they would also start attacking her like they did to Mary but surprisingly, all of their eyes widened and their faces visibly paled when they saw Mother.
Eh? Did they recognise Mother or something?
Before I could even wonder if that was the case, screams erupted through the camp as the Off-Worlders fell to the ground, all of them completely terrified.
Some of them tried to run, only to fall flat on their faces when they lost strength in their legs as their bodies didn't seem to respond as they wanted to.
Even from where I stood, I could tell that a few of them had lost control of their bowels and pretty much half of them had tears streaming down their faces.
Mother took one step forward and the fear amongst the Off-Worlders seemed to have doubled as their screams got even louder.
A couple of them collapsed on the ground, their bodies twitching uncontrollably while frothing at the mouth.
Mother took one more step forward and a handful of them were now clawing at their faces, one of them going so far as to actually dig his eyes out with his own fingers, only to scream louder as it seems like his loss of sight did nothing to minimise his fear.
There were others who were trying to dig a hole in the ground to stuff their heads in there, all the while still screaming out their terrors.
Then I noticed that blood seemed to be pouring out of their orifices including their nose, eyes, ears and even from the pores of their skin, making it a pretty bloody sight.
Mother took her third step and all of a sudden, all the Off-Worlders exploded into light particles and disappeared, the previous cacophony of screams silencing immediately and plunging the entire forest back into complete silence.
I stared at the sight and if it wasn't because of the blood splatters from where the Off-Worlders had hurt themselves scattered around the ground, I would have thought that the entire thing was an illusion…
Mother then turned around and showed me her usual smile, "Ufufufu~ What did my little one think? Was Mama cool?"
"Err… Very cool…" I muttered, more because I didn't really know what to say.
Seriously… What the heck was that?
What do you think?
