Chapter 43 43: So she sought death
While Alix was praying not to be snake chow, her blue elf was celebrating because they had gone up to five million viewers in such a short time.
Granted they were betting on Alix being eaten or killed but more viewers meant more points, more popularity and more access to the virtual network.
At the same time as well, Caishen returned home from work and found Xiaobo doing his homework with Wang Ma and Alix's nanny fawning over him.
One was feeding him apple slices and another was patting his head.
"Wang Ma," he called.
Three people looked at him and two stood up with respectful looks on their faces.
"Welcome back young master." Wang Ma greeted first.
Scarlet's nanny went after her and Xiaobo followed.
"Where is your aunt?" he asked Xiaobo.
He knew that she had picked him up from school, fed him some snacks and they came home directly.
He was expecting to see her here, fawning over Xiaobo as well.
Xiaobo pointed in the direction of the music room and said, "Aunt is working in the music room. She said that she does not want to be disturbed. Grandma also called, she said that you should answer her calls. Aunt An also called and said that she wants to visit for dinner and make sure that I am being well taken care of."
"Okay, I understand," Caishen answered.
He turned his wheelchair in the direction of the music room and contemplated on whether he should go and check on her or not. They had a serious conversation to have.
"I will be in my my study, if she comes out before dinner tell her to come and see me." he instructed Wang Ma.
"Yes young master." she answered with a smile.
"Oh, bring food for my cat and Xiaobo, pick up your books and follow me." he added.
Xiaobo's fingers had been crossed behind his back, hoping that his uncle would not ask him to follow him to his study. It didn't work, and reluctantly, he followed his uncle's instructions.
Alix was currently standing in the center of the crown on the head of a Naga statue, she was calm poised for battle. She had done this many times before, her veins pulsed with memories of the battles she had fought in her youth in other gaming worlds.
Across from her, finally visible, larger than anything she had battled before was her opponent, a green coiled snake whose long tail stood above it's head like that of a scorpion. It's scales glimmered beautifully, polished perfectly like dark green emeralds.
It's eyes held an anger that was so volatile-it was here to finish her off, set an example for others who dared to venture into the sacred temple of the Naga queen.
"You should not have come here little musician, this temple is not for your kind." it spoke.
It's voice was rough and broken, filled with many sssssssss,
"I seek the scroll with the song of the crabby serpent, if I get what I seek, I will be gone as quickly as I have come." She replied.
The snake cackled, laughing as it's long forked tongue swung around carelessly. "You seek to desecrate the graves of our fallen queens."
Alix's fingers tightened around the hilt of the sword, and she repeated her words. "I seek the scroll with the song of the crabby serpent, if I get what I seek, I will be gone as quickly as I have come."
"I see, so you seek death." The snake said, and it lunged at her.
Alix jumped from that statue to another, leaping over the head of the snake precisely. With all her strength, she sliced downward, hoping to slice deeply and wound it.
Her size and quickness were an advantage in this situation, as the snake could not easily maneuver through the statues it seemed to be too wary to damage.
From that statue, she jumped down, and hit it's tail with the flute. It was a weapon of magic, not easily damaged but she heard a crack and the music stopped playing.
The tail hit the ground and sent her flying backwards, throwing her body into one of the large statues. Quickly, it turned around, moving rapidly with a mouth wide open.
Alix got a new weapon, her violin and she started to play a different song, rapidly, the one she used to wake mother canary. If she could hypnotize it, she would confuse it.
"Hey, system, what are the weaknesses of this thing?"
As she asked the question, she hid herself in the shadows of the statues, using her music to distract the snake.
"I would aim for the eyes if I were you." the system elf replied.
With an answer given, Alix changed her plan, from hiding to direct confrontation. The battle raged on, with her making sure that the snake directly hit it's head against as many statues as possible.
Her music played on, and she looked for the easiest way to get to it's eyes.
The music being played produced a bright white light which the snake did not seem to like.
The snake was filled with anger, it was now moving without a care and statues were falling down. At this rate, she would have nowhere to hide and attack from.
With resolve, she leaped onto the snake's back, as close to it's head as she could. Her sword found it's target-the slit of one of the snake's eyes.
It shrieked and shook it's body violently, aiming to throw her off but she did not let go. She used the sword in it's eye as an anchor and dug her left hand into it's left eye.
Aside from the sword, she had a dagger as well, and she stabbed the snake in the eye.
The violent movements slowed down, and it shrieked, convulsed and then fell to the ground. As it let out a mournful cry, it faded into the wind and on the ground, two green gems were left.
Heaving in exhaustion, even though she stood victorious, Alix chugged down a potion to restore her energy. She picked up the two green gems and kept them.
The battle had not been without a cost, she had bruises, parts of her clothes were torn and her flute was broken.
She dragged herself to the sarcophagus, got the scroll and left the temple through a window rather go through snake filed room again.
Off she went, on the back of her ostrich to find the crabby serpent.
Two hours later, she came out of the music room with a big round bag.
She smiled at Wang Ma, walked to the aquarium in the house which had Caishen's glass fish and dumped a fish inside. It was gold in color, and rather energetic.
In addition to the fish, she dropped some fish food inside.
Curious about what she was doing, Wang Ma came close and looked in the fish tank.
"Oh, madam, did you add a fish in here?" she gasped.
"Mmm." Alix nodded.
Wang Ma wanted to talk about the sensitivity of the glass fish but she felt like it was not her place to say something so she kept quiet. Instead, she delivered the message which she was supposed to.
"Young madam, the young master asked me to tell you to go and see him as soon as you come out of your music room."
"En, alright." Alix replied.
What do you think?
