The System Mecha is so unscientific

Chapter 41: Awakening Office Mission – Part 3

As the blinding light faded away, Da found himself standing on the other side of the archway, alongside his teammates Mirra and Elysia. The landscape had transformed again, this time revealing an expansive, cavernous expanse filled with towering crystalline formations that glimmered in rainbow hues. However, the atmosphere was thick with tension—an electric charge filled the air, hinting at the presence of power both majestic and menacing.

“We made it!” Mirra exclaimed, looking around in awe. “This place is incredible!”

“Keep your guard up,” Da cautioned, scanning their surroundings. “We’ve faced our fears, but we still don’t know what awaits us here.”

Just as he spoke, a distant growl echoed through the cavern, sending shivers down Da’s spine. He exchanged worried glances with Elysia and Mirra.

“I don’t like the sound of that,” Elysia muttered, her hands instinctively reaching for her tools. “We should stick together.”

As the three moved cautiously deeper into the cavern, the low growl morphed into furious chattering that resonated through the crystal walls. Shadows flickered across the ground, and Da felt a rise of instinctive apprehension. The air grew heavier, and the distant figures began to coalesce into a swarm of movement.

Suddenly, the first wave of creatures emerged—goblins, dark and shadowy, their forms hunched and malicious. Their eyes glinted with a sinister gleam, reflecting the multicolored light from the crystals around them. They were unlike any goblins Da had ever encountered—these were shadow goblins, spectral and utterly chaotic.

“There are too many of them!” Mirra shouted, pulling out her weapon.

“On my mark!” Da commanded, quickly surveying their movements. He activated his Iron Warden's systems to prepare for immediate combat. “Let’s draw them into an open space and find a strategic advantage!”

As the goblin horde rushed forward, Da positioned the Iron Warden between his team and the approaching swarm. The imposing figure of the mecha loomed large, its adaptive defense shield activating in anticipation of the oncoming assault.

When the first line of goblins reached them, Da issued a command: “Iron Warden, engage! Use your energy blast!”

The Iron Warden’s arm shifted, and a concentrated beam of energy erupted from its cannon, slicing through the ranks of goblins and sending several tumbling back in a cacophony of shrieks and shadows.

“Nice shot!” Elysia called out, her confidence bolstered by the display of power. “Let’s keep pushing them back!”

Da coordinated with Mirra and Elysia, deploying tactical maneuvers to flank the goblins. Mirra unleashed a flurry of strikes with her weapon, skillfully fending off the attackers while allowing the Iron Warden to deliver powerful blows, maintaining an effective barrier against the encroaching swarm.

“Watch the left!” Mirra shouted, pointing as goblins emerged from the shadows, darting toward Elysia.

From behind her, Da swiftly positioned the Iron Warden to shield her, the thick armor absorbing the brunt of the goblins’ desperate attempts to overwhelm them. “We can’t let them surround us! Let’s make a push for that cave entrance!” he yelled, indicating a darker archway to their right, a potential escape route.

Da felt a surge of adrenaline as they carved their way through the chaotic horde. With every movement, he sensed the weight of the mission—this battle was not just about survival, but about overcoming the challenges of unseen realms.

But just as they thought they had gained ground, the tide of battle intensified. A larger group of shadow goblins began to coalesce, their forms shifting and darkening like a rolling storm. Among them emerged a distinctly larger goblin—its stature towering over the others, with jagged teeth and sharp claws glinting menacingly.

“A goblin chieftain!” Da shouted in realization. The presence of such a creature could shift the tide of battle against them. “We need to take it out before it destabilizes our position!”

“On it!” Mirra replied, her determination fueling her resolve. “Elysia, cover me!”

Elysia activated her Aether scanner, sending primary target markers to the Iron Warden’s systems. “Targeting systems are engaged. Let’s flank it from both sides!”

As Da directed the Iron Warden to engage the chieftain, Mirra moved in synchronization, darting ahead with agility. With a swift motion, the chieftain slashed at the Iron Warden, the impact reverberating through the mecha’s frame.

“Hold steady!” Da shouted, recalibrating their attack sequence. “Mirra, get in position!”

With rapid precision, Mirra leaped into the fray, aiming for the chieftain’s exposed flank. She struck decisively, breaking its defense. The chieftain roared in frustration and pain, its features twisted in rage as it swung wildly, attempting to retaliate.

Simultaneously, Da signaled the Iron Warden to counterattack. “Fire energy blast now! Target the chieftain’s center mass!”

The Iron Warden unleashed a focused energy beam directly at the goblin chieftain, creating a blinding flash of light as it struck, causing the creature to stagger backward before collapsing under the impact.

With their leader down, the horde began to falter, confusion spreading through their ranks. Sensing the shift in momentum, Da and his team pressed the advantage. Mirra and Elysia rallied together, striking at the remaining shadow goblins with renewed vigor.

“Push through! We can clear them out!” Da called, feeling the tide of victory shifting in their favor. The Iron Warden became a bastion of strength, its mastery of the battlefield undeniable as it moved decisively against the scattered remnants of the goblin horde.

One by one, the remaining shadow goblins fell, and as their numbers dwindled, the atmosphere enveloping the cavern began to shift—less chaotic now, and more tranquil, as if the realm itself acknowledged their victory.

As the last of the goblins succumbed, Da felt the tension in his muscles ease. The silence that followed their battle settled like mist, the vibrant glow of the crystals bathed the cavern in an ethereal light. The victory felt bittersweet; the guardians of this realm had clearly been suffering because of the goblin horde.

“We did it,” Elysia said, breathing heavily as she wiped sweat from her brow. “But we need to keep moving. There could be more threats lurking nearby.”

Da nodded, motioning for his team to gather. “The Tear will have its secrets, but we can’t afford to linger. Let’s assess the area for any resources and then push forward into the deeper caves.”

As they explored the remnants of the battlefield, Da took a moment to reflect. Each encounter here was a chapter in their unfolding narrative, each victory a step toward uncovering the mysteries hidden within this Tear. Though their journey had just begun, the bond forged in adversity strengthened their resolve, making them ready for whatever awaited them next.

“Stay vigilant, everyone,” Da said, his determination renewed. “We have a mission to complete, and we’ll be ready for whatever comes our way.”

With renewed purpose, the team delved further into the enchanting yet dangerous world before them, their shadows reflecting the light of possibility in the unknown. And as they ventured into the depths, they sensed that far greater challenges and discoveries lay beneath the surface—waiting for them to awaken.
