She Asks for a Divorce Again

Chapter 97: 97: The Anger of Two People

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: The Anger of Two People

Shen Heyu detected the viciousness in his words.

No one understood him better than she did; years of marriage had given her the ability to sense what he needed with just one look or gesture.

On the street, passersby noticed the unusual atmosphere among the trio and cast curious glances their way.

Pei Yansi’s handsome face darkened, a single glare from him sufficient to make onlookers quickly avert their gaze and move on.

Shen Heyu felt intimidated, aware that this was a sign of his impending anger, and the current state of the Lu Family was no match for this madman if he started a fight.

She had no choice but to say to Lu Yi, “Doctor Lu, you should go back first.”

Lu Yi frowned. “Heyu?” He could tell she was intending to follow Pei Yansi.

But, of course, he also knew she was being forced.

As long as she said she didn’t want to go with him, he would do everything in his power to prevent her from leaving.

However, Shen Heyu didn’t want to implicate anyone, especially since Lu Yunlan was still lying in the hospital. She said, “I’ll be fine, don’t worry.”

The fire within Pei Yansi finally subsided a little due to her words. He said to Lu Yi, “Did you hear that?”

Lu Yi, with a somber voice and his gaze shifting between the two, finally said, “Call me if there’s trouble.”

After speaking, he turned to leave but couldn’t help looking back every few steps, his concern and reluctance evident.

Pei Yansi noticed this and sneered inwardly, pulling Shen Heyu into the back seat of the car.

As soon as the door closed, Zhao Jin considerately got out of the car and squatted at a distance on the curb to smoke.

Shen Heyu initially thought nothing of it, but Zhao Jin’s action made her heart race again.

Sure enough, the next second, Pei Yansi leaned in, embracing her, and lifted her chin, drawing close as if to kiss her.

Shen Heyu acted quickly, extending her hand to block his chest. “What are you doing!”

“Do you need a daily reminder that you belong to someone?” he retorted.

Shen Heyu was infuriated by his shameless words.

She replied coldly, “I don’t understand what you mean. We’re already divorced; please show some self-respect.”

Pei Yansi said, “You claim you’re busy when coming to see him?”

“I can meet anyone I like, as long as it’s not you. I’m only busy when it comes to seeing you,” Shen Heyu angrily retorted, aware she shouldn’t provoke him but unable to contain her desire to resist.

Pei Yansi was enraged by her words, “Are you really forcing me? Or do you want to be caged forever?”

His face was a picture of gloom, the warning in his tone even more intense.

Shen Heyu inopportunely recalled the day she returned to the country, how he had trapped her in that apartment. She had the vague feeling that his words were not an empty threat.

If she angered him further, he would likely follow through on locking her up.

She dared not say any more words of resistance and instead plainly stated the situation, “I met with Lu Yi solely for work purposes. I needed to establish a connection for Shen Group domestically.”

“I’m also busy with work, of course,” she added.

Pei Yansi listened quietly, watching her for two seconds as if discerning the truth in her words.

Shen Heyu was unnerved by his probing gaze, unsure whether he believed her or not.

After a long pause, he tapped the window, signaling to Zhao Jin to get back in the car.

He gave an address, and Zhao Jin drove away.

Shen Heyu’s spine stiffened upon hearing the address; it was where she and Yuexue were living now. She frowned, dissatisfied, “Are you investigating me?”

“Not really,” replied Pei Yansi coldly, it was just that this morning he had ‘accidentally’ found out her residence.

Shen Heyu certainly didn’t believe him.

In her mind, she thought that this man was utterly shameless to have investigated her!

Zhao Jin quickly drove to the place where she and Yuexue lived.

Shen Heyu thought he was just going to drop her off and that would be it; however, when she got out of the car, he also followed her out.

She turned around, “Why are you following me?”

Pei Yansi remained silent.

His gaze at her brooked no argument.

He just followed her steadily, as if nothing could make him leave.

Seeing this, Shen Heyu realized she wouldn’t be able to get rid of him.

When she got home, she tried to quickly close the door to block the person outside.

Pei Yansi extended his hand to stop the door from closing before she could shut it.

In the moment he stopped the door, the protagonist paused, lifting her eyes in displeasure to meet Pei Yansi’s deep and icy gaze, she said, “What exactly do you want?”

No sooner had she spoken than her daughter’s tender, cheerful voice rang out from behind, “Mommy, you’re back!”

Yuexue said as she ran forward, standing behind Shen Heyu and looking at the two people confronting each other by the door, somewhat confused, her eyes filled with curiosity as they fell on Pei Yansi.

At that moment, Pei Yansi also happened to look toward his daughter.

He met Yuexue’s clear eyes and saw her embracing a cloth doll, her expression not very welcoming toward him.

Pei Yansi lowered his eyes to glance at Shen Heyu and, not wanting his daughter to notice the subtle atmosphere between them, whispered in a voice that only she could hear, “Won’t you invite me in to sit down? I brought you up here, and not even a glass of water?”

Shen Heyu stared at him with a look reserved for a shameless person, the standoff continued, and seconds later, the daughter’s voice came again, “Mommy, Aunt Ning has already prepared dinner. I’m hungry, let’s eat.”

Yuexue blinked her innocent eyes, her gaze circling among her dad and mom.

Her look toward Pei Yansi carried a slightly different emotion, examining this strange father without any concealment.

Shen Heyu glanced at her daughter and then turned her gaze back to Pei Yansi, who stubbornly wouldn’t leave the doorway, dimly understanding that this man wouldn’t give up until he achieved his goal.

After weighing her options, she really didn’t want her daughter to see her arguing with Pei Yansi. Fearing it would impact her childhood, she eventually stepped aside.

Still impatient at heart, after letting him in she went straight to pour a glass of water and slammed it down on the coffee table.

Pei Yansi had just sat down on the sofa when the water glass she placed made a thunderous noise, the water inside splashing out a few drops onto his black trousers, creating darker stains.

In order not to let her daughter notice anything, Shen Heyu suppressed a surge of anger and said sternly, “Mr. Pei, after you drink, the door is to the left, thank you.”

Hearing this, Pei Yansi’s brow tightened almost imperceptibly, but he didn’t reach for the glass of water and instead turned his gaze to his daughter.

“Yuexue, how about daddy takes you to the amusement park tomorrow?” he said, his usually cold phoenix eyes revealing a rare tenderness.

Yuexue blinked, wanting to agree, but with her mom next to her, she felt indecisive and hesitantly looked at Shen Heyu.

Though she didn’t speak, Shen Heyu could easily tell her daughter wanted to go; it was her own child, after all.

Her resentment toward Pei Yansi grew hotter in her heart.
