She Asks for a Divorce Again

Chapter 103: 103: Is It Dad?

Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Is It Dad?

The sound wasn’t loud, but the hospital room was so quiet that when it arose, it was both soft and obviously feeble.

Shen Heyu immediately felt somewhat embarrassed.

Pei Yansi lifted his eyelids, glanced at her, and said ambiguously, “Hungry?”

Shen Heyu nodded.

After being busy at the company, she had been working continuously, without even having dinner. Pei Yansi stood up and said, “Wait for me here.”

Shen Heyu neither agreed nor refused; she was going to stay there and watch over Yuexue anyway.

She sat in the hospital room, and before long, the door was pushed open again. Pei Yansi walked in, holding two dinners, and placed the food on a small table.

Shen Heyu glanced at the logo on the box; it was from a rather famous Chinese restaurant. To eat there, one would usually have to wait in a long queue, but for him to return so quickly, he must have used his financial clout.

Pei Yansi unpacked the food containers and set up the bowl and chopsticks for her.

When he handed them to her, he met her astonished eyes.

He was taken aback, then quickly realized—when had he ever taken care of anyone like this?

As if he couldn’t quite maintain his dignity, he let go of the utensils, carelessly placing them in front of her, and said, “Eat on your own.”

Shen Heyu hesitated for a moment, hearing the deliberately feigned coldness in his tone. She found it very odd, but still picked up the bowl and chopsticks and started eating earnestly.

Perhaps because she was truly hungry, she ate with focus.

Pei Yansi sat opposite her. Eating as meticulously as he had six years earlier, he was quite particular about it.

He glanced at her and asked, “What kind of connections does your company need to establish?”

“Domestic and international business bridging together, merging different cultures.”

Shen Heyu, when she spoke of work, was like a different person—calm and no longer averse to him. She said seriously, “After the connections are established, we’ll promote vigorously domestically, then gradually move all business to the local market over time.”

Watching her serious demeanor, Pei Yansi felt a flicker of emotion.

They say ‘Beauty under the lamplight becomes ever more charming,’ and maybe it was the lighting in the hospital room, or maybe something else, but his heart stirred.

He said in a deep voice, “Whatever help you need, go to Zhao Jin. He will provide you with the greatest assistance.”

“Especially since Shen Group would surely need to connect with the Pei Family’s network, right?”

Pei Yansi’s comment was spot on. With his business acumen, he had a clear understanding of the strategic moves for Shen Group, and the connection with the Pei Family was key.

Shen Heyu was also well aware that establishing a connection with Pei Yansi was necessary but not through Zhao Jin.

She answered earnestly, “I don’t take shortcuts. I will rely on my own efforts to make the marketing department of the Pei Family recognize us and willingly promote and collaborate with us.”

“Rather than them thinking we took a shortcut and harboring bias against us, which would lead to problems in the cooperation.”

Pei Yansi listened in silence, not joining in the conversation.

But he couldn’t help admitting that his respect for her grew.

When she talked about her work, she became much more submissive, as if she had changed into someone else. He liked her compliance, her obedience, her charm.

Or perhaps, he liked the feeling of being obeyed, he was used to being in control.

He said again, “Anyways, if you have any difficulties, come to me at any time.”

Shen Heyu didn’t respond.

The two ate in silence, neither speaking further, but the previously taut atmosphere in the air seemed to have dissipated.

A rare moment of warmth ensued.

Especially with both of their daughter lying in the bed nearby.

After dinner, Shen Heyu subconsciously thought about cleaning up the empty food containers, but then she remembered the damnable Pei Yansi was still there, so she remained seated, motionless.

Pei Yan patiently waited for Yansi to handle it himself.

Yansi automatically packed up everything.

Both sat on the couch, looking at their daughter still unconscious in the hospital bed.

Shen Heyu, feeling distressed, asked, “Has she woken up at all while I was gone?”

Yansi shook his head, “No.”

Shen Heyu fell silent, unable to swallow her anger toward the woman who had slighted her. If she encountered that woman again, she would make sure she paid a price—not as simple as just receiving a few slaps.

Time ticked by slowly, and it grew late into the night. Glancing at the time, Yansi said to Shen Heyu, “You should go and rest first. I’ll stay here to watch over her.”

Shen Heyu wanted to refuse.

“I’ve always been here accompanying Yuexue,” she said. “If she wakes up and doesn’t see me, she will cry.”

Hearing this, Yansi felt a pang in his heart.

Overseas, she was so busy with work every day and used all of her spare time to take care of and be with her daughter.

He spoke gravely, “You might need to go to the company tomorrow. Listen to me. Go rest, and leave this place to me.”

Shen Heyu was silent for a long while.

Shen Jiangli had already told her that she didn’t need to go to the company.

She was about to speak when Yuexue in the bed suddenly made a sound, hoarsely choking out, “Mommy…”

Shen Heyu frowned with concern and quickly got up to walk to the bedside.

Yansi followed closely behind her.

Shen Heyu reached out to touch Yuexue’s hand to let her know she was there and asked, “Mommy is here. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else?”

“My eyes hurt…” Yuexue said pitifully, “And I’m hungry.”

Having been unconscious for most of the day without food, she felt very hungry upon awakening.

Yansi had also brought her food back when he had gone out earlier. He said, “I’ll feed you.”

He turned and picked up the supper that was on the bedside table.

Seeing this, Shen Heyu, without much thought, gently lifted her daughter up from the bed, letting her lean against herself.

Yuexue obediently nestled in her arms, her eyes looked dim.

She couldn’t see.

Nervously, she said, “Mommy, am I blind?”

Hearing this, Shen Heyu’s heart ached as she replied, “No, it will get better after a while, your wound hasn’t healed yet.”

Yuexue believed her and responded with an “Oh.”

Yansi brought the meal over and started to feed Yuexue with careful precision.

But he had trouble finding the right amount of force at first, it being his initial experience caring for someone, especially his little girl. He was either too forceful or too gentle.

After several attempts, he finally adjusted his force, managing to feed his daughter smoothly.

Shen Heyu watched him the entire time, seeing his serious expression and jaws clenched tautly, as if very nervous—it was unlike him, who she had seen handle business deals worth billions without such tension.

Yuexue seemed to sense who was feeding her.

She ate earnestly, relishing the feeling of having her father around. After all, she was just a child.

After she finished eating, Yansi then said to Shen Heyu, “I’ll help her sit up to aid digestion. You go rest.”

She’d been holding her daughter since the feeding began and must certainly be tired.

Shen Heyu was startled, not expecting Yansi to show this side of himself.

At that moment, Yuexue murmured, “Is it Daddy?”
