Chapter 30 - "Legs of Xiao Long, Fists of Chen Min!?"
Chapter 30 “Legs of Xiao Long, Fists of Chen Min!?”
The Digital Gang had many factions, with most of the Second-Grade Marshals being present at the Stronghold during last night’s chaos. However, some had not followed and were instead marginalized, pushed out by Sang Gou for not agreeing with his rise to power.
Chen Min was one of those who had been promoted by Li Tai himself, but after clashing with Sang Gou, he was forced out. Over the past period, he had remained at the villa to protect Li Tai’s widow and child.
But Lei Luo was not moved by Chen Min’s loyalty or his situation. What struck him was that he had finally met someone familiar. The person before him, had things gone differently, would have become one of the Digital Gang’s most prominent enforcers, earning fame with his superior combat skills. He was known as “Legs of Xiao Long, Fists of Chen Min.”
After achieving success in the underworld, he suddenly retired from it all and entered the entertainment industry, where he even starred in several classic roles. The Chen Min Lei Luo remembered was now much older, yet this was a younger version of him, still fresh in his early career.
In Lei Luo’s recollection, Chen Min should still be a police officer at this point in time. In Hong Kong Island’s underworld, the boundaries between police and gang members were often blurred, and his entry into the police force had come through Li Tai’s financial connections.
Piggy Oil was about to speak up, but Lei Luo raised his hand to stop him.
“You don’t understand anything, young man,” Lei Luo said. “Go ask your sister-in-law yourself, see what she says.”
The young Chen Min, driven by his blood and passion, found his palms sweating as he watched Liu Chen and the others step out of the car. Particularly when his sharp instincts as a top enforcer kicked in, he immediately realized that Liu Chen was a dangerous person.
Chen Min quietly withdrew, heading into the villa. Soon, the villa door opened, and a woman dressed in black mourning clothes emerged, accompanied by a child and Chen Min.
“Lo Brother, I apologize for the disrespect. The widow is not in the right state,” she said, her head covered by a black veil, which only served to make her appearance even more enticing under the dim light. Her gaze at Lei Luo was filled with a certain, unspoken allure, leaving a lot to the imagination.
Lei Luo nodded and stepped into the villa. Liu Chen, Piggy Oil, and the lawyer followed behind, while the rest of the men remained outside, guarding the area.
Inside the villa, the first thing they saw was a photo of Li Tai, with white flowers placed next to it. The atmosphere made conducting business in such an environment uncomfortable.
Noticing Lei Luo’s frown, Li Tai’s widow immediately gestured toward the staircase.
“Let’s go to the study on the second floor,” she suggested. “Amin, take Xiao Yu to the garden to play football.”
Amin hesitated for a moment, but upon hearing about football, the child eagerly dragged him out of the room.
Lei Luo, Piggy Oil, and the lawyer followed Li Tai’s widow upstairs to the study. The safe containing the asset documents was located here. Once opened, the lawyer carefully examined all the documents.
Throughout the process, the widow offered no resistance, fully cooperating without question. The asset documents were relatively straightforward to verify, but the contracts required the lawyer to go over them carefully, which naturally took a considerable amount of time.
The widow, who was wearing the black veil, glanced softly at Piggy Oil.
“Piggy Oil, may I have a word with Lo Brother in private?” She asked. “I noticed Lo Brother has some dark circles under his eyes. I happen to know a bit about massage.”
Piggy Oil paused for a moment before his expression shifted to one of understanding. He realized the widow had been waiting for this moment, being so cooperative earlier only to set this up.
With Li Tai gone, it was clear she wanted to switch to a bigger tree to lean on. If it had been anyone else, there might have been objections, but with Lei Luo, who would dare speak out?
Piggy Oil glanced at Lei Luo, who was lying in the rocking chair with his eyes closed, seemingly relaxed and saying nothing. Piggy Oil knew Lei Luo wouldn’t be interested in such a woman, but since they had some free time, why not let someone serve Lo Brother?
Piggy Oil immediately instructed the lawyer to move the documents out of the room to another one for review. Once the study door was closed, a faint click was heard.
Lei Luo remained in the rocking chair, his eyes closed, as a warm hand gently pressed against his temples. Then, a soft breath brushed against his ear.
“Lo Brother, I have no other intentions. I just wanted to relieve your stress,” she said, her voice sweet. “I know I’m not worthy of you, but now that the Digital Gang has been destroyed, it’s just my daughter and me, alone in this world.”
The widow, named Alan, continued to massage Lei Luo’s muscles while testing the waters with her advances. However, Lei Luo didn’t respond at all. Instead, he abruptly grabbed her around the waist and lifted her off the chair.
Two hours later, Lei Luo, feeling refreshed, pulled out his checkbook, wrote a sum of one million, and tore off the check.
“Take this money. You can stay on Hong Kong Island or leave, it’s up to you.”
“As for what happened today, just consider it a pleasant dream and a memory you can revisit.”
From being a street thug to the Chief Investigator, Lei Luo had encountered and been with countless women. The cold, detached words left his mouth smoothly, without hesitation or remorse.
The woman lying on the office couch barely raised her head, filled with some unwillingness, but there was nothing she could do.
When the door opened, Piggy Oil and the lawyer had already arranged all the Digital Gang’s assets: savings, stocks, properties, and financial contracts. The total came to nearly 100 million.
And this 100 million had cost Lei Luo next to nothing. The million he had given to Li Tai’s widow had come from the system’s return reward. With the system’s two billion investment return planned for trade and construction companies, this extra 100 million could now be used to support operations in mainland China.
Just when Lei Luo had been struggling financially, this influx of funds brought him some much-needed relief. As he left the villa, he looked at Chen Min, who was waiting outside.
“Kid, hanging around here at your age won’t do you any good.”
“If you want to stay in the police, go talk to Piggy Oil. If you want to join a gang, go to him, Liu Chen from Hong Xing.”
Chen Min was a good prospect, still young and hadn’t committed anything too unforgivable. Lei Luo rarely took an interest in recruiting, but he jokingly said, “Go ask them.”
Piggy Oil and Liu Chen exchanged a glance, both silently noting Chen Min. After leaving the villa, Lei Luo and his men drove away. Having had his workout, Lei Luo instructed Liu Chen to take over the territories while he and Piggy Oil went out to grab a bite to eat.
When they passed a gambling den, they noticed the noodle shop owner was being cornered inside.
“Boss, give me a few more days,” the owner pleaded.
The man in the den, clearly angered, snapped back, “Old man, I’m not unreasonable, but you’ve delayed for a month!”
Hearing this, Lei Luo suddenly told Piggy Oil to stop the car. The screech of the brakes caught the attention of everyone in the gambling den. When they turned around and saw Piggy Oil, their expressions immediately changed.
What do you think?
