Pokemon: Reborn Rich Alternate Earth

Chapter 398: Gabite Vs Altaria

Although Bryon knew about Julian, his information on him was outdated—he had no idea what Julian had accomplished recently.

If he had known that Julian had won a 3v3 battle against a national-level Rock Gym Leader, there was no way he would have issued this challenge.

After all, he was only at the early Elite stage. It was one thing to boast in front of Lance—he was a straightforward kid who actually believed his words.

"You’re not backing out now, are you, fool?"

Seeing Bryon hesitate, Evelyn sneered. "If you’re afraid, just admit defeat, losing to my grandson isn’t anything to be ashamed of."

"Who said I’m afraid?" Bryon retorted. "But Elite-level battles can be hard to hold back in. Why don’t we have an Advanced-level battle instead? It’ll also be a good chance to test out my newly acquired Pokémon."

"Of course, if Julian doesn’t have any Pokémon at that level, then we can just drop the match."

There was no way Bryon would admit he was scared. However, if he went into a Elite-level battle against Julian, his chances of winning were nonexistent.

But in an Advanced-level match? He was confident.

Afterall, his Pokémon had been carefully trained for this.

Julian heard Bryon’s words and nodded. "I have an Advanced-level Pokémon."

His grandmother clearly disliked this guy, and as her grandson, it was only right for him to teach him a lesson. As for whatever plan Bryon had in mind—Julian had already seen through it.

"Alright, then let’s have an Advanced-level battle," Bryon said confidently.

With so many members in the Cavendish family, the estate naturally had plenty of battlefields. The group headed to an unoccupied arena.

"Elite Bryon, I don’t think we need the protective shield. The aftermath of an Advanced-level battle isn’t too destructive," Julian said.

Hearing this, Bryon hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright."

Both trainers stood on opposite sides of the field, and Julian tossed out a Poké Ball.

"A Gabite!"

Lance’s eyes lit up with excitement as he looked at the Dragon-type Pokémon standing in the arena. This was one of the Pokémon he wanted most.

As a pseudo-legendary Dragon-type, its final evolution, Garchomp, was unbelievably cool—and it could even Mega Evolve.

As soon as Gabite entered the battlefield, it immediately locked eyes with its opponent.

Bryon hadn't expected Julian to send out a Gabite for an Advanced-level battle. The moment he met the Pokémon’s gaze, he had a bad feeling.

Without wasting time, he sent out his own Pokémon.

---

Pokémon: Altaria (Dragon/Flying)

As Altaria soared through the air, its pure white feathers, elegant long neck, and clear, melodious cry made for a stunning display. Its graceful posture and keen eyes showed its beauty.

It was clear that Bryon had raised this Altaria well.

It's just that Julian's Gabite was even better.

"Teacher sent out Altaria, just as expected! He’s been training this one carefully all year. Even against a Gabite, it’s not necessarily at a disadvantage!"

Lance was full of confidence in Bryon, especially in his Altaria. Since its debut, it had never lost a match—even against stronger opponents, it had always come out victorious.

"This fool actually raised a decent Pokémon."

Evelyn remarked, nodding slightly. She could tell that Altaria was an exceptional Pokémon.

But her attention soon shifted to Julian’s Gabite.

"Its build, its gaze, its presence… In all my years, I’ve never seen such an outstanding Gabite. Even the Drake family might not be able to produce one of this caliber."

If her reaction to Altaria was admiration, then her reaction to Gabite was pure astonishment. It was almost unbelievable that such an exceptional Pokémon was right in front of her.

And to think—her own grandson had raised it!

Pride immediately swelled in Evelyn’s chest.

"The match is already decided."

The Cavendish family head said softly.

Even though the battle hadn’t started, the gap between the two Pokémon was already clear. As long as Julian didn’t make a major mistake in his commands, there was no way Altaria could win.

"Dad, you mean Teacher has already won?"

Lance obviously misunderstood his father’s words, assuming he was predicting Bryon’s victory. Delighted, he said, "I knew it! Teacher is amazing—Julian doesn’t stand a chance!"

The Cavendish family head glanced at his youngest son. He had always believed Lance was the most promising among his children.

Now, he wasn’t so sure.

Or perhaps his son’s intelligence had been dragged down by spending too much time around Bryon.

Gabite's eyes gleamed with ferocity. It had been a while since its last battle. Julian usually played at the Elite level, where its strength wasn’t enough to make the cut.

But now that Julian was finally taking on a lower-tier battle, it wasn’t going to hold back.

Gabite: 'I hope you’re strong enough.'

As Gabite’s fighting spirit surged, Julian’s voice rang in its ears.

"Dragon Claw!"

The two Pokémon were over a hundred meters apart. The moment Gabite’s powerful legs exploded into motion, the ground beneath it caved inward from the sheer force.

Like an arrow released from a bow, Gabite shot forward.

In a blink, it was already in front of Altaria. Its speed was overwhelming, giving its opponent no time to react.

A pair of emerald-green claws came slashing down.

At the last moment, Altaria’s cotton-like wings suddenly expanded several times their size, wrapping around its body in an instant.

Boom!

Dragon Claw struck directly against Feather Dance's defense. The immense force sent Altaria crashing into the ground below.

But the fluffy defense provided incredible elasticity—just as quickly as it was slammed into the ground, Altaria bounced back into the air.

"Altaria, Dragon Pulse!"

Bryon was drenched in cold sweat. If Altaria hadn’t reacted fast enough and used Feather Dance at that critical moment, a direct hit from Dragon Claw would have ended the match right then and there.

'I knew my Altaria was exceptional! Even in a dire situation, it can react on its own.'

Bryon hadn’t even given the command—Altaria had acted entirely on instinct, its reflexes astonishingly sharp.

Even Julian was a little surprised by this.
