Chapter 899: Golden Star
Chapter 899: Golden Star
Silence fell upon the realm.
And for a moment, both livings and undeads stopped moving, one paralysed by fear, the other by awe- It only lasted a mere second and then, the abnormal sensation disappeared, but both sides seemed to innately know what was the cause of that.
Milo was shining like a golden sun, but he involuntarily took a step back, the surge of power not potent enough to make him discard his fears and apprehension especially as he faced the pure undead.
The darkness nesting within his cage-like helm was replaced by a powerful glow of deep, dark purple, instantly, the air felt too heavy to breath in, trees and grass seemed to lose their colour as they spontaneously drained themselves of their life force, this was no conscious effort by the undead to kill, they simply felt like sinners to be alive in his presence, and seeking absolution, they siphoned themselves of their sins, Milo felt a similar pressure fall upon him, but he managed to stand strong and not give in.
Still, his clutched his chest where his heart was, the organ beating wildly, this was entirely different than when he and the others had fought the undead before, it had been hard to notice as not only was Loimos suppressed, but he also deliberately held back, but it was obvious that the Loimos from back then was nothing like the one currently before him.
Right now, it was as if he was conduit for Death to express itself, but the golden radiance that not imbued Milo from the depth of his marrow to the very bottom of his soul- It flickered and pushed away the terrifying presence, allowing the living to stand tall even in the face of the one and only pure undead- The one who was able to overcome and slay his antithesis in the form of the pure living, nothing short of extraordinary strength was needed to be able to stand in his presence.
It had been a long time since Loimos had last allowed for his strength to actually express itself, normally, he was always suppressing it, appearing and moving like a ghost hovering in between two realities, those who looked at him might be to see the tyrannical power hidden beneath, but in truth, few had actually gotten to take a look at this overwhelming existence.
His presence was unaffected by the shackles of the realm and limits placed on his power, so it spread across the entire realm and even beyond…
Lazing in his colossal palace, Dragonlord Ronarkatast raised his head, staring directly at the distant source of the oppressive aura, and for a moment, he was about to take flight and go confront this incredible being, but realising that it was coming from the depth of the undead empire, he restrained himself.
“I’ll get the chance one day…”
Similarly, the Queen-Empress Of Bermude, Moilirus Poisseon was forced to stop paying attention to what she was doing, feeling likes the water around her became deathly cold for a moments, her body instinctively poising itself for an imminent fight, but she soon realised that the presence was not only nowhere near, but that it barred no hostility or even interest toward anything even remotely in the direction of her underwater empire.
“Could that be… The Harbinger?”
Deep below the earth, the Hierophant-Queen Of Durter, Artratac Dursol dropped the ore she was holding.
“An undead?” she muttered, but upon realising that it had nothing to do with her or the underground continent, she just shrugged and continued examining the ore, as long as they could keep digging the earth, the folks of below ground were happy.
The two leaders of Lefaux, Sapient Golem King, Gargantax Torh and Pure Spirit Queen, Pylhta Hilio felt the respective energies animating them tremble.
“Is it beginning?”
“No… That… That’s just someone who had been keeping their presence in check…”
Everything being that was not undead felt a tinge of fear blossom within them for an instant, and many remained afraid even after things settled down.
In the moment that followed, Loimos channelled every energy throughout his body, each of them mastered to perfection, every ounce of it moving according exactly to his will, most impressively, the increase in strength was far from being as consequent as it should normally be, the golden radiance was exerting its influence even from afar, and everything that was not itself was weakened by several notches, but still, keeping the pure undead in check was a tall order, even for the miraculous gold.
As Loimos did more than just channel energies and weave it all into many spells at once, everything was under the constant boosting effect of ‘stack’ and furthermore, each of those spells was the definition of a transcend spell, output maximum across the board, every bit of energy condensed to their absolutely limit, each spell stack with maximum amount of energy they could take as excess- In fact, this was beyond transcend, for Loimos did not need to maintain them after casting them, the weaving was so precise and perfect, that they were perfectly stable and self-sufficient.
This was the greatest height of energy manipulation besides zone, this was the casting of zenith-level spells.
And in the following second, Loimos went on the offensive, like a bolt of black lighting, he rushed forth at the living.
The speed was greater than anything Milo had ever witnessed before, but somehow, he was actually able to perceive it, and raise his arms to defend, he felt the muscles and bones enduring the hit groan, but they held as he was thrown back across the realm, but his momentum quickly halted as he willed the gold to stop him before launching himself fearlessly at the undead.
There was still apprehension within Milo, but with the power that he currently wielded, he could not bring himself to be afraid, he had to keep fighting, and he had to win.
And so, Milo charged straight for the undead, soaring through the air like a comet, his fists both slamming against the palms of the undead, the ground around them shattered as it seemed like the living momentarily had the advantage in brute strength, but the undead had already anchored himself deeply, and once the initial blow subsidised, he began to push back.
In that moment, Milo erupted with gold, like radiations, it ate away at the ever-regenerating undead, but this struggle was not allowed to go on, soon enough, the living felt spikes of bones erupted from the palms of Loimos, stabbing straight through his fists and injecting black blood directly into him.
With a grunt, he broke away from the corpse, who took the occasion, to land a direct punch to the jaw.
The blow blasted away half of the living’s teeth and destroyed half of his face, but all damage was like a shallow cut to him right now, all damage was already reverted just as Loimos’s fist was no longer in contact, similarly, the gold erased all of the black blood within its host as well.
The battle raged on.
