Chapter 236: Questions
He compared the intricate patterns recorded on the jade stone with the light patterns visible on his spatial ring.
The jade stone depicted the spatial array in its full glory, a blueprint of interwoven lines and symbols.
His ring, however, presented a fragmented, almost ghostly echo of the same design.
The reason for this elusiveness, he realized, stemmed from the very nature of the ring's creation.
The spatial ring, he learned from the jade stone, wasn't constructed in the same way as the other arrays.
Those four were inscribed onto a medium, their energy flowing on the surface.
The spatial ring, however, was the medium. The jade itself had been meticulously worked, the spatial array woven into its very structure at a molecular level.
After three weeks of painstaking comparison, visualization, and meditation, Ye Yang finally managed to trace the complete array within his spatial ring.
It was a breakthrough. The faint, almost imperceptible lines on the ring now seemed to glow with an inner light in his mind's eye, revealing the complex network of spatial manipulation.
He spent the following days studying the corresponding section in the jade stone, absorbing the knowledge it contained.
The stone detailed the intricate process of creating such an array, the precise channelling of spiritual energy and the array process to create the spatial ring.
It was a daunting process, one that required not only a deep understanding of array arts but also the knowledge of space itself.
.
With his newfound understanding of spatial arrays and a head full of questions, Ye Yang decided to attend Elder Zhao's lecture.
He hadn't been to class for a month, preferring to immerse himself in his studies of the jade stone.
He knew Elder Zhao would likely have questions about his absence.
As he entered the classroom, he saw Elder Zhao standing at the front, a warm smile on his face. "Ye Yang! It's good to see you. I was wondering if you have abandoned the path of an array master because of the complexity of the arrays."
Ye Yang bowed respectfully. "Elder Zhao, thank you for your concern. I apologize for my absence. I have been diligently studying the array arts, and I recently had a breakthrough that required my full attention."
Elder Zhao's eyebrows rose in surprise. "A breakthrough? In what area of array arts, if I may ask?"
"the four array I could find, Elder Zhao," Ye Yang replied, a hint of excitement in his voice. "The four basic arrays defensive, offensive and few others, I have mastered them all."
A ripple of murmurs went through the class. The other disciples exchanged disbelieving glances. Mastering even one of the basic arrays in a month was considered exceptional. Mastering all four was unheard of.
Elder Zhao, though surprised, maintained his composure. "Mastered, you say? That is quite a claim, Ye Yang. Perhaps you would care to elaborate?"
"Yes, Elder Zhao," Ye Yang said.
"I have tried from the basic Qi gathering array and then other with successfully creating them. I have achieved a practical mastery of the Amplification Array, the Restoration Array, the Binding Array, and the Illusionary Array."
Elder Zhao's eyes widened. He exchanged a look with the other disciples, who were now staring at Ye Yang with a mixture of awe and disbelief.
"You have created all of them? Starting with the basic Qi Gathering Array, then moving to the others?"
"Yes, Elder Zhao," Ye Yang confirmed. "I began with the Qi Gathering Array, as you instructed, to build a solid foundation."
"From there, I progressed to the Amplification Array, focusing on the precise conduit placement. Then I tackled the Restoration Array, learning to calibrate it for specific healing purposes. The Binding Array, surprisingly, proved to be the most straightforward. Finally, I mastered the Illusionary Array, understanding the delicate interplay of light, shadow, and incantation."
Elder Zhao was stunned. He had taught countless students over the years, but he had never encountered anyone with such rapid progress.
"Ye Yang," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and admiration, "you have truly astonished me. Your progress is…remarkable. I must admit, I had my doubts when you disappeared for a month, but you have clearly used your time wisely."
"To master all four basic arrays in such a short time is an extraordinary feat." He paused, collecting himself. "Tell me more about your insights. What specifically helped you understand these complex arrays?"
Ye Yang explained his methodical approach, how he had meticulously studied the diagrams, how he had experimented with different materials and incantations, and how he had visualized the flow of energy with increasing clarity.
He also mentioned his discovery of the spatial array within his ring and his subsequent deep dive into the corresponding section of the jade stone.
Elder Zhao listened intently, his initial scepticism gradually giving way to genuine fascination.
He realized that Ye Yang possessed not only talent but also an exceptional dedication and a keen analytical mind.
He had clearly gone beyond simply memorizing the instructions; he had strived to understand the underlying principles, the very essence of array arts.
"Ye Yang," Elder Zhao said, a thoughtful expression on his face, "your understanding of the arrays is truly impressive.
You have clearly grasped the fundamentals and have demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for practical application.
Your insights into the spatial array within your ring are particularly intriguing. I would be very interested to hear more about your discoveries in that area."
Ye Yang nodded. "Elder Zhao, I have only just begun to scratch the surface of spatial arrays.
The jade stone has revealed a glimpse into the complex world of dimensional manipulation, but I have many questions. I hope that you can guide me further on this path."
Elder Zhao smiled. "It would be my honour, Ye Yang. Your thirst for knowledge and your dedication to the array arts are truly inspiring."
"I believe you have the potential to achieve great things. Let us discuss your discoveries in more detail after class. Perhaps we can even arrange some time for you to demonstrate your mastery of the basic arrays."
Ye Yang bowed his head. "Thank you, Elder Zhao. I am grateful for your guidance."
He looked around at the other disciples, who were now looking at him with a newfound respect.
He knew that his journey had just begun, but he was no longer just a student. He was a cultivator, a seeker of knowledge, and he was ready to explore the limitless possibilities of the array arts.
Now they understood the reason why he was taken as the personal disciple by the saint sword god himself.
Ye Yang spoke, "Elder, I have some doubts, and I wish to ask?"
Elder Zhao nodded, gesturing for him to proceed. "Of course, Ye Yang. What troubles your mind?"
"It's regarding spatial rings, Elder," Ye Yang began.
"The jade stone describes their creation as an intricate process, involving expertise in array creation and the manipulation of space. It mentions 'growing' the array rather than inscribing it. Could you elaborate on this 'growing' process? How is it possible to weave an array into the very fabric of the jade?"
Elder Zhao stroked his beard thoughtfully. "That, Ye Yang, is one of the most closely guarded secrets of the artificers."
What do you think?
