No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother

Chapter 62 - 60 Don’t be Fooled

Chapter 62 - 60 Don't be Fooled

As soon as Elijah Reed finished speaking, Liam Spencer's face grew even more uncomfortable.

Elijah didn't think too much about it. He just thought that in this hot weather, he couldn't let his boss suffer, and he wasn't taking Miss Spencer to the hospital for the first time; it had become routine.

However, this time Liam Spencer didn't plan at all for Elijah to take Maya Spencer to the hospital. He was thinking of asking Elijah to get on with his work after carrying Maya to the car.

Now, he was stuck in an awkward position, unable to leave or stay.

Then he heard Ella Turner say, "Principal, Elijah and I can accompany Maya."

Maya looked at the two who were helping to send someone away and felt a silent gratitude, as she just didn't want to see him!

However, Liam turned around, looked at Maya in Elijah's arms, and said, "Maya is my sister; if I don't go, people will gossip!"

With these words from Liam, both Elijah and Ella went silent, and the four of them got into the car together.

In the passenger seat, Liam was thinking about how someone was cuddling obediently with Elijah, yet always had a cold demeanor towards him. The thought made him more uncomfortable, wondering if she had set her sights on Elijah now.

In Liam's memory, this girl would only act coquettishly with him, would only let him hold her. Watching her lie in someone else's arms, watching her act sweet to others, he felt disgusted and wanted to tear off her mask but didn't know how.

When the four of them arrived at the hospital, Elijah was familiar with the process, busy finding a doctor, arranging a ward, everything went smoothly, which made Ella emotional.

An hour later, Maya's wounds were bandaged, and she was taken back to the ward. The doctor said, "Miss Spencer, don't worry about the scars; we are using the best medicine on you, so there won't be scars whether it's on your face or feet."

"Thank you, doctor!" At this moment, Maya's forehead, face, hands, and feet were all covered in bandages, making her look like a mummy.

After the doctor left, she also sent Ella away, leaving only Elijah and Maya in the ward.

She took a deep breath and calmly said, "Young Master, Assistant Reed, you can go about your business now!!"

Hearing Maya's dismissal, Liam left without a word, while Elijah walked to Maya's bedside, earnestly reminding her to call the nurse or a caretaker if she needed anything.

Seeing Elijah's attentive manner, Maya smiled and said, "Thank you, Assistant Reed."

"It's nothing! Miss Spencer, get some rest; I'll be going now." With that, Elijah jogged out to catch up with Liam.

Considering Liam's behavior today, she wasn't touched. As he himself said, he was afraid she'd embarrass the Spencer family at school, afraid people would say the family was mistreating her, which is why he brought her to the hospital.

Their grudges still remained, and her resolve to drive Liam out of the Spencer family had not wavered.

Meanwhile, in the car on the way back, Liam and Elijah were together.

Liam asked, "Elijah, aren't you a bit too concerned about Maya?"

Elijah understood what Liam was implying, thinking he had feelings for Maya, but swore he truly didn't.

So, he hastily waved his right hand and explained, "Boss, don't misunderstand. I have no intentions towards Miss Spencer; it's just that she seems pitiful without a mother."

"I don't have a mother either!" Liam retorted when he heard Elijah say someone was pitiful without a mother, automatically replying that he also didn't have one, which left Elijah stunned.

He didn't understand what his boss meant. Was he saying Elijah wasn't treating him well enough??

So, he continued to explain, "Yes, Boss, you have Miss Spencer and me, too!"

Listening to Elijah's explanation, Liam felt they couldn't communicate.

Thus, he bluntly said, "Maya isn't right for you. There's no need to waste your feelings on her."

"I'm being nice to Miss Spencer for the boss's sake." Elijah felt as if he couldn't clear his name even if he tried, genuinely thinking that Miss Spencer was pitiful, without any ulterior motive.

Hearing Elijah's explanation, Liam didn't make things difficult for him anymore, though someone's image continued to wander in his mind.

Thinking of her injuries made him feel pain, recalling the numerous bandages made him wonder how she managed to go to the bathroom or eat on her own.

All these questions persisted even when he returned to the office and didn't dissipate. The entire morning, his mind was filled with her image falling, her crying out in pain, her in bed with him, and the comfortable feeling made his brain cells abnormally active.

By noon, he couldn't sit still in the office anymore and drove to the hospital again.

Remembering Maya's cold face, her disregard for him, he wanted to provoke her, frustrate her; he couldn't let her be at ease, returning the dissatisfaction in his heart to her.

So, half an hour later, Liam arrived at the ward, intending to cause a scene after seeing her, to make her uncomfortable. But she was asleep, and when he entered the room, she didn't even notice.

Beside the bed, Liam took a deep breath, looked down at the sleeping girl. She slept peacefully, without a trace of pain.

Originally, Liam intended to upset her by waking her up, but seeing her so quietly asleep, he

stood there watching her, like a man possessed, without waking her.

Even when moving towards the sofa, he did so very lightly, afraid of making a noise that would wake her.

On the bed, Maya slept well. After a bout of pain and crying, she slept especially soundly, unaware of the extra person in the ward.

Not until three in the afternoon did she stretch and open her eyes, waking up from a dream, awakened by hunger.

Reaching up to rub her eyes, she accidentally touched the wound on her face, causing a groan of pain to escape her lips.

She took a deep breath, let out a soft "ouch," still unaware of the enemy sitting on the sofa to her right.

Only when she turned over to get up did she see Liam sitting on the sofa, watching her intently.

Startled, Maya quickly grabbed the thin blanket on the bed to cover herself, frowning as she asked, "What are you doing here?"

The man looked at her defensive posture with frustration, a slight smile tugging at his lips as he taunted, "What? Uncomfortable living at school, so you're playing the pitiful card to return to the Spencer family?"

Faced with Liam's assumption, Maya rarely bothered to respond. Whatever she did, this man would always have countless reasons, claiming she had ulterior motives, so what was there to explain?

Thus, she rolled her eyes at him and retorted with a cold smile, "Yeah! I just want to return to the Spencer family, playing the pitiful card. If you've got the guts, don't bother with me! Don't be fooled!!"

As for Liam, she couldn't be bothered to get angry. Whatever he wanted to think, let him think it! She'd play along, and maybe even provoke him enough to send him away—a win-win situation.
