Chapter 25 - Inuyasha Senjin
Chapter 25: Inuyasha Senjin
The night was deep, and Wakefield lay shrouded in darkness.
Now that Ruofeng knew the scroll’s secret, his heart wavered between amusement and frustration. The scroll, written by Uchiha Zan, contained only formidable jutsu—none of them were low-level. Even the weakest among them, the Fire Release: Dragon Flame Release Song Technique, was an advanced technique. For an experienced ninja, such techniques require intense cultivation. For Ruofeng, an uninitiated ninja still at the beginning of his journey, even attempting them would be a daunting challenge.
Although there were no low-level jutsu, the scroll held an overwhelming number of high-level ones. There were legends—Kizuna, the Art of the Immortal, and many more. Each was recorded in intricate detail, accompanied by Uchiha Zan’s analysis. Even though he had failed to master the Art of the Immortal and Kizuna, he meticulously documented his understanding of them.
Beyond these, there were forbidden techniques that had appeared in historical records—the Reanimation Jutsu, Flying Thunder God, and Ghoul Sealing Technique—all transcribed and examined by Uchiha Zan. His analysis covered even the most powerful jutsu from the First and Second Hokage, likely compiled due to the saying that one’s greatest enemy understands them best.
All of this knowledge had now fallen into Ruofeng’s hands. Of course, he could not yet cultivate these techniques, but they would undoubtedly prove invaluable in the future.
His mixed feelings were understandable. He felt like laughing at the fortune before him, but at the same time, he wanted to cry knowing he could not yet harness its power.
“Hoo…”
Exhaling a deep breath, he forced himself to shift his thoughts away from the scroll. His priority was steady growth, not reckless ambition. Besides, his grandfather’s recorded experience and jutsu provided ample material to hone his skills for now.
Ruofeng narrowed his eyes, attempting to sleep, but rest eluded him. What he had discovered today was too overwhelming to let him relax.
After some contemplation, he opened his eyes again, his gaze settling on a particular scroll within his bedroom—the summoning scroll he had retrieved from the secret chamber.
He had always been interested in summoning techniques. More importantly, summoning required no inherent skill, only a contract with a powerful beast. At present, there were few techniques Ruofeng could cultivate, but summoning was among them.
Rolling over, he stood up and walked toward the scroll. A determined glint flickered in his eyes.
“This summoning clan… Beast King Mountain… Though Uchiha Zan wiped them out, a summoning realm remains. That alone is a significant find. I need a vast space of my own—a place to store valuable things.”
Murmuring to himself, Ruofeng unrolled the scroll before him. However, what he saw left him disappointed. It was blank.
The Beast King Mountain summoning clan had truly perished.
Ruofeng recalled Jiraiya mentioning that a summoning scroll without a name indicated one of three possibilities. First: it had never been signed. Second: the summoning clan had been eradicated. Third: the clan itself had rejected all contracts.
The empty scroll in front of him confirmed the second scenario. The clan had been wiped out.
A sigh of disappointment escaped him. This had once been the Uchiha clan’s summoning contract—it was surely no ordinary pact. In the world of shinobi, powerful summoning beasts were rare. Only three clans stood above the rest: the toads of Mount Myoboku, the snakes of Ryuchi Cave, and the slugs of Shikkotsu Forest.
Other summoning beasts existed, but few held entire clans. Even fewer cultivated nature chakra. Among those who did, only the sacred summoning lands were known to possess the technique.
Perhaps the Beast King Mountain’s summoning beasts were not as strong as those from Mount Myoboku, but they could not have been far behind. A shame they had been eradicated by Uchiha Zan.
Ruofeng’s eyes narrowed. “Still… Gaining a summoning space is useful. I need a place to store things. There is so much unnecessary junk in the dump station—it will take too long to decompose naturally. This space could serve as the perfect disposal site.”
Bathed in moonlight, Ruofeng pricked his fingertip, letting a drop of blood fall onto the scroll before writing his name upon it.
Uchiha Ruofeng.
The blood shimmered on the parchment.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Ruofeng frowned. “Strange… Jiraiya said that when one writes their name on a summoning scroll, three outcomes are possible. If the name fades, the summoning clan rejects all contracts. If it turns black, the clan is extinct. If it remains unchanged, the contract is accepted.”
He watched the scroll intently.
Then, a faint chakra pulse spread through it, flowing into the written name. A strange energy coursed into his body.
Ruofeng’s eyes widened. “What is happening? Why is this chakra flowing into me?”
Before he could react, a deep, aged voice resounded.
「Oh… A new contractor appears. Unfortunately, a Uchiha once again. Sigh… Success by the Uchiha, destruction by the Uchiha. Very well, I shall acknowledge you.」
The moment the voice faded, the scroll before him dissolved into white mist and vanished.
Ruofeng stared at the space. “What just happened?!”
The energy surged within him, strengthening his chakra and altering his body.
Once more, the voice echoed:
「Contractor… Accept this gift tonight, and come to Beast King Mountain tomorrow. You may call me Inu Immortal.」
As the final words faded, Ruofeng felt his body burn from within. His muscles tensed, his bones ached, and his chakra fluctuated wildly. It was unlike anything he had experienced before. Unlike a medicinal bath or the nourishment of magical beast meat, this felt like his very being was being torn apart and reforged.
He wanted to scream, but no sound came.
A sudden pain flared in his brow.
Ruofeng gritted his teeth. What… More trash in the dump station? He had learned that with every surge in power, new items would appear there. This pain… It must mean my body is being strengthened!
As the energy continued raging through him, his consciousness faded.
And then, everything went black.
What do you think?
