Chapter 1229: Annoying Rookie (Part 1)
Gary was sure of it, since his senses had come back, that the workers on the ship, they smelled exactly like other Werewolves.
Thanks to him using his spray they couldn't smell him which was good, but due to the situation he needed to alert the Altered Hunters somehow and none of them would believe him due to his current position.
'So I can't transform, and no one believes me. They have to be using something that covers up the heat signature in the mask as well… but I still don't think that will be enough with my status among the Altered Hunters.'
So Gary had to come and devise his own plan. He looked at the group of six with the two workers in blue shirts and started to head over.
Casually Gary was leaning on the railing, as he inched his way forward to the others.
When he got a bit too close, one of the Altered Hunters looked at him, in disgust, and eventually wanted to say something.
"What do you want, rookie?" one of the hunters asked.
Gary found his in, and stopped leaning as he came to join the circle.
"I just thought this city looked pretty nice that was all," Gary said. "Also, I just wanted to say, I saw that guy eyeing up your weapon earlier, I was worried he might be thinking of doing something with it."
Gary had used his head to gesture to one of the workers, who immediately put his hands up.
"Haha, I mean they're cool weapons, that's why I was looking at them," The worker said. "It's a shame you know, you Altered Hunters have the opportunity and are brave enough to actually fight, but for us, we would never get to hold one like that."
Gary was hoping that the Altered Hunter would get annoyed or be suspicious but the worker was quick with his words.
"Oh really, I mean you can hold onto it if you want," The hunter said as he pulled out one of the electrified batons. "It might be your only time you get to hold one, so go ahead."
The man went to hand over the baton, and Gary immediately dashed out.
"No don't!" Gary shouted. If the worker got hold of the weapon, then how would the man defend himself, it was the perfect time to strike.
But Gary's hand was stopped as it was grabbed by one of the other Altered Hunters.
"What is wrong with you, why are you even getting involved in this stuff? Are you crazy? You should just go away, we're not friends with you or anything," The Altered Hunter said.
"It's okay," The worker quickly said. "I don't need to look at the weapon, maybe he just thought it was something precious to you guys so someone like me shouldn't be holding onto something like that."
With how nice and sincere the man was acting, it had made a few of the other hunters give him some stares.
'I don't care, hate me all you want. That guy will eat you all if you don't see this is all an act!' Gary was screaming in his head.
He couldn't take it anymore so he could only think of one way to get them to reveal themselves.
"I know the truth," Gary said, as he was in the middle of getting shooed away. "I was trying to be sly about it, but I know, you're an Altered, and you're working with Lupus!" Gary pointed.
"What!" the man immediately said with a smile. "We've been working with the Altered Hunters for a long time, we hate Altereds just as much as you, I can assure that."
The Altered Hunters were now getting angry at Gary's accusations as well.
"Rookie you're going too far. These people have risked their lives to help us. They're doing everything they can, and now you're just having baseless accusations, for what, for some attention or something."
"Seriously how could someone like you be an apprentice, why did Saiber even accept you on this?"
With the accusations made, Gary was hoping for a change in the way the man was acting, if not him maybe the worker by his side.
When accused, maybe knowing that their disguise was gone, they would start the attack now.
But they were still acting as calm as ever.
"He's right, we even check everyone beforehand, and our masks would have registered if these people were Altered or not, or maybe you're too new to even know that."
"I'm telling you!" Gary said. "It's not a baseless accusation. It's not just these two, but everyone that's working on this ship, that is from Ruin City, they're Altereds," Gary answered.
One of the Altered Hunters was so annoyed, that was closest to Gary, he even decided to take it into his own hands and punch him.
He threw out a punch aiming straight for Gary's head, but Gary easily on reflex just leant back and avoided the hit.
It was nothing to him, he didn't even think much of it as he continued his argument.
"If they attack, when no one is prepared, or get us from behind when we reach the Gardens everyone is going to be in big trouble," Gary continued.
While the Altered Hunter who had just attacked was looking at his fist and blinking. He was wondering how his hit could be avoided so effortlessly, and for Gary to not even react to it.
He felt like he was in a wonderland world at the moment.
"What are you doing," A voice said from behind.
When Gary turned his head, he could see it was Saiber.
"Are you saying the same stuff again, after I already checked, and now you're still second guessing them?" Saiber said. "This is going too far now young man. Enough is enough."
