Chapter 1227 Never Escape
Chapter 1227 Never Escape
The split in the group was evenly done between the 50 or so Altered Hunters.
In total the groups were travelling in large groups of around sixteen of them.
Usually entering a city like this, the Altered Hunters would completely disguise themselves.
However, things were different with this operation. The night sky was already out, it was close to midnight already.
There weren’t many that were to be on the street, and it was a straightforward operation. The Altered Hunters knew full well that they would be getting into scuffles and a fight.
They were hoping that things would end in this day. So everyone was wearing their Altered Hunter gear.
Two trucks left with each group of those on motorcycles going off with them.
Gary watched as he saw Austin leave with three of the trucks, along with Blackjack, Pluto.
Heading towards one of the Botanic Gardens, Gary was careful to look for the marking on the trucks to see which one contained the special delivery that was needed to be delivered to Edvard.
Then, he saw Kai, Kim and Trixie along with the rest of the hunters go off in two more trucks.
Leaving two trucks to go with him, Saiber and the rest of the hunters.
‘Well I guess the most important role is left to me,’ Gary thought, as he could see the three stripes going across the truck.
Inside one of the two trucks was the special delivery. He didn’t know whether to be thankful that at least he had the truck needed for the delivery, or that now the full weight felt as if it was on his shoulders.
Either way, there was one annoying thing, and that was Saiber.
“You’re on the back of the bike with me,” Saiber claimed. “We need to make these groups even and the most useless one has to go with one of the best.”
Riding through the city on the motorcycles, Gary was noticing the beauty.
For one, he could see that there were next to no vehicles other than those of public transport, and if there were they were mostly electric, or some type of Hybrid.
The way the city was designed was for ease of use of bicycles and more.
There was the odd car here and there, as well as a motorcycle but due to the infrastructure and the rest of the city, they certainly stood out. The few people that were out and about on the streets had even pointed at the motorcycles and he could see the dismissive shakes of their heads.
What Gary did like about the city was how much greenery there was everywhere.
With large trees planted in the middle of the roads.
Even at the sidewalks there were plants and flowers that were displayed along the side.
Seeing all of this did make Gary think.
‘This is the utopia that Lupus built for his Pack,’ Gary thought. ‘Just like everything that Slough have gone through, it will have been the same for Ruin City.
‘Even when my father was talking about how this place used to be a tourist attraction, it’s just changed so much since then.’
Gary didn’t know why, but he felt like he was starting to relate to Lupus a bit, without even having seen him.
Maybe it was because he liked the style of the city, maybe it was because in this case, he was the attacker that had snuck in.
He had to shake his mind off though.
‘No matter what, two Alphas have to fight against each other. When making the ritual I also made the deal with whatever that thing was… and Kai is right, if they have Midwak, and he’s given them the information, then we’ll be in real big trouble, this is the safest thing to do… I’m sorry Uncle who I’ve never even met.’
Just thinking about that phrase, it was a weird feeling for Gary.
He carefully watched the trucks, and they had finally pulled up along the river.
They were still relatively far away from the centre of the city Gary noticed.
The motorcycles parked up along with the rest of the trucks at what looked like a small harbour.
Where equipment would be placed on a delivery ship, and then it would head down the river.
“What… this doesn’t look like a Botanic Garden,” Gary commented.
“Thank you for stating the obvious, Captain Sherlock,” Saiber replied back. “I see your insight is greatly needed to help us out.”
“We’re not just going to turn up at the front of the Garden. We’re heading down the river with the equipment.”
“The large ferry will then stop just short of where the Garden is located. Since it’s on the river this is better for us.”
“And before you ask, yes, the people at this dock are working for us as well as the captain, they are aware of the plan. I hope one thing, you don’t get in the way with your useless comments.”
As Gary watched Saiber and the rest emptying the equipment out of the trucks and down to the Harbour, Gary was starting to think the hardest part of this mission was going to be not hitting Saiber during this whole thing.
Regardless, he shook his head as he ventured forward. He grabbed one of the crates of equipment from the three marked trucks, not sure if it was the crate that was specially needed or not, and continued walking.
“I’m surprised you can carry that by yourself,” One of the hunters commented.
Gary just smiled back and continued moving, until he felt a ringing pain in his head. Immediately he dropped the crate onto the floor and went down on one knee.
“What is going on now!” Saiber said as he turned around and could see Gary had dropped a crate on the floor.
“I knew this guy was useless.”
Gary held onto his head, as he could feel the pain looking at the ground, unaware that his eyes were slightly glowing red.
‘I can feel it… I can feel it.’
Elsewhere in the City of Ruin, standing on top of a building rooftop, Lupus was smiling, his eyes glowing red.
“So you decided to come to me then… this is interesting,” Lupus commented. “There can’t be two Alphas young one.”
