Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife

Chapter 1467: A Worthy Deal ( 1 )

He Xieyu considered the pros and cons for a long time before he finally said, "Comrade Su, what deal do you have?"

The moment Houzi heard this, he smiled and said, "All the plans are written in the letter. Comrade He, you can read it yourself."

He Xieyu took the envelope and opened it. He pulled out several pieces of paper and read them carefully.

At first, he was skeptical. After all, the crisis they were facing was not something that could be solved by simply sending grains to other cities and towns. Unless they were able to solve the main problem, they wouldn't be able to solve the food shortage completely.

But the more he read, the more surprised and excited he became. After a while, he finally put down the letters and asked, "Comrade Su, are these data correct?"

Houzi nodded and replied, "These data have already been sent to the brigade. Currently, they are testing out the method written in the letter. It might take a few months before they can see the results."

"If these methods are proven, then we won't have to worry about failing the harvest," He Xieyu nodded.

Noticing his excitement, Houzi poured a basin of cold water on him by saying, "Comrade He, don't feel happy too fast. Even though these methods can be used to improve the soil's quality and the cost of building greenhouses can be reduced, the current situation cannot be delayed any longer."

He Xieyu thought about the last content in the letter. After thinking for a while, he said, "Comrade Su, I agree with this deal. When do you want to start?"

"As soon as possible. But before we start, I have to ask you to write a letter of confidentiality. My friends are willing to help the country, but they are unwilling to reveal their identities," Houzi replied with a smile.

Seeing him frown, Houzi added, "It's not that we don't trust you. But you know that even in the government, there are several parties. You know what the other parties will do if they find out about this matter."

"Even if we want to help, we have to ensure our safety. Comrade He, you don't think that it's too much for us to ask, right?" he added.

He Xieyu understood clearly that the political situation was not as peaceful as people thought. For them to ask for another layer of safety was not too much.

"Alright, I will write it now," he nodded.

It took him ten minutes to write the letter of confidentiality and put his signature and official stamp on it. After he was done, he handed it to Houzi and asked, "Comrade Su, the situation is urgent. When will you start your plan?"

Houzi read the letter for a moment before he said, "Let's meet at the mountain foothills near Xie Village. From there, it will be easier for you to transport the goods to other areas."

"Comrade He, you only need to prepare your people to transport the goods. My people will send the goods before midnight to the location," he added as he stood up.

Before leaving, he said, "We will only be responsible for preparing the goods. The rest will have to depend on you."

He Xieyu nodded and said, "You can leave it to me."

"Good."

After the discussion, Houzi left the office and returned to Xie Village. As he rode his bicycle, he wondered where Li Chenmo got so many grains.

He not only sold grains in his own store in the capital, he even sold grains to the government through Pan Chiyan. Now, he even asked him to contact He Xieyu and let him send the grains to other cities and towns to help solve the food shortage.

"Do the mountains have so many resources?" he muttered under his breath.

While he was on his way to the village, Lu Jueyu and Li Chenmo were walking in the mountain foothills to check the location.

As they walked, Lu Jueyu asked, "Husband, when did you go find Houzi and come up with this idea?"

"When I went to my second brother's place, he was there. So, I told them about your intention, and we came up with this idea," Li Chenmo replied.

Lu Jueyu nodded and asked again, "Husband, since you have asked Houzi to contact He Xieyu, what should we do about Pan Chiyan's request?"

Hearing this, Li Chenmo glanced at his wife and asked, "Wife, are you worried that people will be suspicious about the amount of grain we have?"

"The amount we gave to He Xieyu is several times more than what Pan Chiyan requested. No matter what excuse we have, it's impossible to cover up the amount of grain we possess," Lu Jueyu said with a sigh.

"Wife, didn't I tell Pan Chiyan that I have lots of friends before? I just used the same excuse when Houzi asked," Li Chenmo said casually.

"They believe you?" Lu Jueyu asked with doubt.

"Whether they believe me or not is no longer our problem. If they want the grain, they have to believe me even if they think otherwise."

Lu Jueyu looked at her husband and said, "You are so cunning."

Li Chenmo chuckled and said helplessly, "Wife, this isn't cunning, it's a gamble. Actually, if they want to find out the truth, they can investigate, and we will be exposed easily. I'm gambling that they care more about the people than their own curiosity."

"Let's not talk about Houzi being a middleman. Deep down, he is a soldier and still holds onto his vow and beliefs. For someone who could work as an undercover agent for more than ten years and still carry out his mission perfectly, he is someone who has a righteous heart."

After a moment of pause, he continued, "As for He Xieyu, he is someone who grew up in a military family. Even as a politician, he is no different from a soldier due to his upbringing. He knows what he should do, and he is trustworthy."
