LOWKEY INTERSTELLER CAPTAIN

Chapter 12: Shadows Over the Battlefield

The battlefield was a graveyard of twisted metal and shattered ships, yet amidst the wreckage, Cheno Bo stood unshaken. The last remnants of Xian Ren’s Phantom Battalion had been reduced to drifting husks, their warships overridden and turned against them. But victory did not bring relief.

The Void Sovereign fragment hovered before him, its massive structure pulsating with an eerie glow. He had won this battle, but more would come.

[Binding Progress: 23%.]

His connection to the Sovereign was growing stronger, but not fast enough. He needed more fragments, more power. Yet, retrieving them would not be easy—not when powerful forces were working to keep the Sovereign’s legacy buried.

The Hidden Path

As Cheno prepared to extract the fragment, the system spoke.

[Warning: Retrieval will trigger long-range tracking from external sources. Activate Concealment Protocol?]

His grip tightened. Xian Ren’s forces weren’t the only ones searching for these fragments. There were others—hidden players in the galactic shadows, waiting to strike the moment the Void Sovereign resurfaced.

“Activate Concealment Protocol,” he commanded.

[Affirmative. Engaging Long-Range Teleportation. Synchronizing fragment signature with surrounding debris field.]

The glow of the fragment intensified for a brief moment before it vanished completely, transported across the vast distance to merge seamlessly into the Void Sovereign’s structure. To outside eyes, it had ceased to exist. Only Cheno, guided by the system, could perceive its true form.

[Fragment Retrieval Successful. Binding Progress: 27%.]

The fragment reintegrated into the Sovereign, its lost power beginning to stir within the dormant behemoth. Slowly but surely, he was rebuilding it.

Aeliana’s Choice

Meanwhile, deep within the Imperial Academy, Aeliana stood before Xian Ren, her expression unreadable.

“You told me Cheno Bo was finished.”

Xian Ren clenched his jaw, fury burning behind his eyes. He should have been. Yet, time and time again, Cheno defied fate, surviving impossible odds.

“His luck won’t last,” Xian Ren growled. “He’s clinging to the past, to ruins that no longer hold meaning.”

Aeliana’s lips curled into a smirk. “Then why are you so afraid of him?”

Xian Ren’s fists tightened. “I am not afraid. I am eliminating a threat.”

Aeliana stepped closer, trailing a finger along his collar. “Then do it properly. If you truly want to erase him, stop underestimating him.”

She had already chosen her side. Chen Bo was a relic of the past—Xian Ren was the future.

The Gathering Storm

Back in the depths of space, Cheno sat within the ship’s command deck, reviewing the next set of coordinates provided by the system.

[Next Fragment Location: Classified. Access Requires Further Binding.]

He exhaled. The Sovereign’s defenses were still incomplete, its power locked away until he gathered enough fragments to fully awaken it.

[Warning: High-value targets detected en route to the next site. Extreme caution advised.]

His enemies weren’t going to wait for him to finish rebuilding. They were coming.

As the stars stretched into the abyss, Cheno Bo made his decision.

“Set course,” he ordered. “We move now.”

The hunt for the Void Sovereign had only just begun.
