Volume 5 Chapter 46: What One Person Can Do

The monster —Ashura— roared, and immediately, a terrifying aura began to spread.

Several hundred meters away from the center of the battlefield, in which Asura is at, despite having Derisha support, Grace still struggled a bit just to stand.

"Ugh–Guh..."

After a while, her breathing finally eased, and Grace patted Derisha's hand, indicating for her to let go.

She glanced her head around, and found that neither Melon nor Aurevia could be seen.

Did they get separated after the explosion?

Well… Grace turned her head back toward the giant Ashura who are still rampaging, and decided that not being together is the more correct choice to make for now.

After confirming the conditions of the others through [Party Telepathy], Grace looked up at the skeletal Ashura.

Why does such a monster exist in this world?

A monster with overwhelming presence that drowned others with ease, strength that surpasses any being recorded, and sheer brutality that left any normal person unconscious due to fright, facing such a monster, can she really win?

….No, she must win; otherwise, everyone will die here.

But, how can she win?

Just a moment ago, that giant monster is able to scatter our group with just two attack, and she herself is forced to take a healing potion just so she can stand.

"Grace, are you okay?" Derisha asked with concern.

"...I'm fine," Grace nodded.

"Should we continue..." Derisha furrowed her brow.

Looking at the monster towering over them like a mountain, conservatively estimating it to be over fifty meters tall, can they really defeat such a colossal creature with just four people?

Furthermore, the monster posture, it’s just like that girl from the desert, the same lava that surrounds them, the same lifelessness.

Both Ashura and that girl are equally terrifying.

Just as Grace is in the middle of thinking, Ashura let out an earth shaking roar that sent tremor into her bone, it then began to swing its arms. The large blade spun around, creating a red whirlwind that, in the next moment, caused a landslide and the collapse of a vast mountain range under the lava-infused strike, tragically swallowed by it.

Then, another swing created a canyon on the ground, and with another, a stone peak was split open.

"That monster isn't..." Behind a stone wall somewhere, Aurevia, covered in burns and bruises, her once pristine [Elf Weapon] now worn and dusty, reflected her owner's condition.

"It's looking for us," Melon said, her chainmail skirt torn and ready to be declared unusable, reflecting the many battles she had been through, not to mention it was a coming-of-age gift from her master, and now it looked like this after just one attack.

The current situation is extremely bad, very, very bad. Her current position is not too far from that monster. If it continues to slash like this, she will be in trouble sooner or later.

So, should she try to escape? In this situation, running away would only reveal her position to the monster. Moreover, where could she run to?

There's no way out!

...But in this situation, as someone who primarily uses her fist in combat, what can she exactly do?

Whether it's when fighting against the monster that the desert girl summons, or this giant skeletal figure, she can only watch them rampaging around helplessly, and it makes her feel very frustrated.

No, no, this decision has to be made. Now she can only take Miss Aure with her and retreat to the rear to find another way. Making this decision, Melon stood up. Just as she was about to pull Aurevia to her feet, she saw Aurevia staring in shock at the sky.

At some point, the two of them were already covered by a seemingly endless black shadow. Instinctively following Aurevia's gaze, Melon looked up.

What she saw was the figure of the giant skeleton, with its bloody eyes, charred bones, and its huge skeletal figure trembling non stop, its mouth curled up slightly at the edge.

….It’s laughing.

However, Melon and Aurevia's minds were blank, and they could only watch the skeletal giant hand holding the giant blade descend. The lava-adorned blade expanded infinitely in their field of vision, and time seemed to stand still.

...

...

...

"[Spiral Charge. Shield Counter!]"

"[Wind Breaker]!"

"[Blue Light Slash]!"

Time seemed to stand still...?

The blade stopped abruptly about ten meters above their heads, then at 9.5 meters, 9 meters, 8.5... It descended very, very slowly.

The three magical waves that followed exploded beside the blade, forcibly diverting its direction. The massive blade slowly, slowly touched the ground.

"Master, it's master's scent, master is here," Melon looked at the sky, her eyes showing a mix of joy and worry.

"Walson? He’s coming here? But— Huh?" Aurevia also looked towards the sky, her eyes widening.

The sky was covered by a massive magic circle, and a gentle light descended. Both of them felt their bodies becoming lighter.

The Ashura, half-immersed in the hot pool, stood still, seemingly trapped in some abnormal space, entering an almost motionless and slow state. At the same time, a blue streak appeared on this red scorched earth.

It’s a source of water, a large amount of water was flowing into this hell-like plane! It poured down from the mountain next to the hot pool!

On the hot pool, due to the sudden influx of water, made steam and filled the air. Then, a strange purple-blue mineral spread continuously as it touched the water and lava. Eventually, it trapped the skeletal Ashura in the hot pool.

"[Celestial Soar: Dragon's Flight]!" A shadow followed the giant blade that touched the ground, rushing at an almost invisible speed. It targeted the withered skull of the Ashura,

And, with a flash of light, a figure wearing a purple-black stone armor, dragging a purple-black stone hammer in its hand, with shiny black scales all over, rushed toward Ashura.

A Lizardkin, with a giant hammer, smashed its hammer toward the giant!

"[Dragon's Punishment]!" A crisp cracking sound from the hammer met skull echoed, and the left skull of the Ashura was forcefully tilted to the side due to the impact from the giant hammer.

As if awakened by pain, the sluggish body of Ashura returned to its normal movements. The other two heads roared angrily, wielding six blades in a thunderous onslaught.

Six arrows took advantage of the opportunity during the roar and flew into the Ashura's mouth. Immediately, the Ashura's movements were caught in a temporal rift, becoming a slow-motion playback mime.

A gray flag was fluttering in the air.

On the hillside, a small figure and six archers were busy attaching potion-filled vials to their arrows.

"Lord Walson, is it enough to do it like this?"

"Yes, having the potion being shot straight to its mouth would be more effective." He waved, raised a blue flag, and then said, "Now spread out, wait for the opportunity, remember, there are not many [Potions of Slowness], use them sparingly, and buy time for everyone."

The six archers nodded and each took a bottle of potion from their waist pouches, drank it, and swiftly left.

The Lizardkin wielding a giant hammer saw the signal of the blue flag, laughed heartily, and took a bottle of the same blue potion from his waist pouch, drinking it.

The potion's effect was to make the body light as a feather, named "Agility."

"[Boiling of The Dragon Blood]!" The black-armored Lizardkin emitted a red light, swinging the giant hammer like a storm. In his eyes, the three skulls were just three large mole toys.

Smash, smash, smash, smash, smash, smash, smash, smash!

"Magic team ready to go, vent your anger!" Walson took out another flagpole and shouted into a makeshift microphone.

The red flag fluttered, the hammer stopped, and the awkwardly positioned Ashura seemed like a toy on a shooting gallery.

And then, a large amount of bursting fireworks suddenly soared into it.

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!

Ashura's body regained speed, howling miserably as it fell sideways, but before it hit the ground, it once again entered a state of stillness.

The wailing mouth was a target.

The six archers appeared and disappeared on the battlefield, playing a game of throwing hoops.

Then, several rounds of whack-a-mole.

Then, several rounds of shooting fireworks at dartboards.

Then, several rounds of throwing hoops.

The lower half of Ashura, which were previously submerged into the lava, are trapped due to the sudden influx of water that changed it into [Obsidian].

Due to that, it was forced to abandon his lower half and two blades, crawling and wreaking havoc with half a spine in both hands.

Four blades glowed brightly, the swinger was full of anger.

"Damn it— None of this is enough to deliver a fatal blow to it." The white flag waved, signaling a retreat.

The archers had run out of [Potions of Slowness], so continuing this kind of fight would result in casualties.

For now, we need to retreat and regroup, at least hold on until new potions are brewed...

"Walson!" A scout suddenly appeared next to Walson.

Seeing the empty space next to the person, Walson felt inexplicably anxious.

"Where's Grace? Where's Melon? What about Derisha or Barella? Why didn't they come back with you?"

"No, it's not that. They– they said, to please give them more time!"
