Legendary FBI Detective

Chapter 384 384: The Candidate, John Rodriguez's Request

Moments later, Winslow, finding his left hand still firmly pressed to the table by Luo An, fell silent for a while.

Anwar, Cooper, Chenier, and Patricia all wore looks of disbelief on their faces as they gazed at Luo An, their eyes completely changed.

None of them had expected Luo An to be stronger than Winslow, who was known to have the greatest strength among them. Moreover, Luo An seemed to handle it with such ease!

Luo An, who took a bottle of stamina potion every morning and a strength potion every few days, simply chuckled without saying much. He pushed the three large glasses of beer in front of Winslow and picked up a smaller one himself:

"Drink up!"

"Drink up!"

Filled with admiration, Winslow took a deep look at Luo An, first held up his right thumb to Luo An, then picked up the three large glasses of beer on the table, downing each one in a single gulp. After that, he resumed chatting with Luo An.

As Winslow admitted his loss both in action and attitude, the atmosphere at the dining table warmed up again. The gathering continued until 10 p.m., and since everyone had had drinks, they found ways home, either by taxi or getting a lift from friends.

Winslow, Anwar, Cooper, Chenier, and Patricia, these five people, were only temporarily assigned to the Special Investigation Team for this case. Three days after the dinner party ended, they each returned to their original departments, and the office area of the Special Investigation Team went back to its usual emptiness.

All five of them had performed excellently in this case, and Luo An was not the sort to cast aside those who had served their purpose. On the day they returned to their original departments, Luo An made sure they received the bonuses they were entitled to for cracking the case.

"So..."

On Friday, right at the start of working hours, in the team leader's office, Potante Byrne looked at Luo An who was sitting in front of his desk and smiled, asking:

"Out of these five people, which one are you planning to transfer into the Special Investigation Team?"

Luo An chuckled and handed over the report he had written to Potante Byrne. Potante Byrne opened the folder, which contained two names:

Channie, Winslow.

"Just these two?"

Potante Byrne gave the folder a brief look before closing it, smiling as he asked,

"The Special Investigation Team has a roster for seven, even with these two, you guys would still only have six."

"It's enough."

Luo An shook his head, as for a special team like the Special Investigation Team, what matters is the quality of the agents, not the quantity.

Luo An himself acts as the home base, strategically unraveling and managing case clues; he is the brain of the Special Investigation Team.

He believes he is the face of the Special Investigation Team.

Mona is in charge of computers, investigating case clues online as well as managing the internal network security of the Special Investigation Team.

Reesi handles field investigation of clues, her disguise techniques, investigative skills, physical fitness, and reaction speed in emergencies are all exceptional.

Michelle is in charge of the follow-up procedural documentation after a case ends; she's got computer skills and can assist Mona, with strong information processing and coordination abilities and can support Reesi and Luo An. She is a competent logistic support staff.

Chenier, having always worked in the International Business Department, is very capable in adaptability, hand-to-hand and firearms skills, and interrogation and counter-interrogation.

As for Winslow, who comes from the Hostage Rescue Team, there's even less need to discuss his qualifications—an absolute elite in ability, spirit, thinking, and experience, all of which ordinary agents cannot compare to.

When the time comes, having Chenier, Winslow, and Reesi out on investigative tasks will significantly increase the safety in case of emergencies.

"OK."

Potante Byrne nodded, agreeing to Luo An's request for personnel. However, procedures take time, and it would be at least two weeks before Winslow and Chenier could officially join the Special Investigation Team.

This bit of time didn't matter to Luo An; after all, he wasn't in a rush.

Returning to the Special Investigation Team, Luo An noticed that only Mona and Michelle were in the office area, and he asked with some confusion:

"Where did Reesi go?"

Michelle lifted her head from the desk and replied:

"Reesi asked me to request some time off for her. She wasn't feeling well and went to the hospital."

Luo An frowned:

"What exactly is the situation?"

Michelle shook her head:

"I don't know. She didn't give me the details."

"Alright then."

Luo An nodded to signal Michelle to call Reesi later and tell her she doesn't need to come to work today. He granted Reesi a day off and then turned back to the team leader's office.

The evening before last, after the dinner had ended, yesterday at noon, John Rodriguez, the former CIA and now president of the Mueller Group, came to the Special Investigation Team again.

This time, John Rodriguez didn't beat around the bush. He had only one request, which was to seek Luo An's help in introducing him to Mr. Clement.

Luo An's mind quickly deduced the situation John Rodriguez was facing. It must be that the CIA, Wan De, and the others were beginning to use John's status as the president of the Mueller Group to ask him to use the group's resources to do work for the CIA outside of the Federation.

Now that John Rodriguez had parted ways with the CIA, he just wanted to ensure his daughter could smoothly inherit an intact and wealthy Mueller Group.

Using the Mueller Group to do work for the CIA was bound to be exposed one day, and no one could predict what would happen to the Mueller Group then.

As a former CIA insider, John knew that he could not contend with people like Wan De alone. The only solution was to latch onto another powerful leg.

Luo An was such a leg, promising for the future, but not fully developed yet, not big enough.

The leg that could satisfy John's needs was not Vireness, but Mr. Clement, who stood behind Vireness.

Considering the request made by John Rodriguez, Luo An thought over it and did not refuse.

Firstly, the task was not difficult for Luo An, it could help him foster good relations with John, and after all, John's current position as a tycoon in command of a large group meant that he could take other routes that might just take more time without Luo An's help.

Secondly, doing this would surely irritate the CIA, but the CIA would only feel annoyed at Luo An, not daring to move against him as he had background and connections.

Thirdly... for this matter, John Rodriguez was willing to pay Luo An two million US Dollars.

It wasn't that Luo An liked money, but he mainly appreciated John as someone who could see was capable of great things and was willing to lend him a hand.

Having received Luo An's introduction, John left the Special Investigation Team with a smile and gratitude, holding the time and restaurant location arranged by Mr. Clement's secretary.

The subsequent developments between Clement and John were of no interest to Luo An; having pocketed the check left by John, Luo An took a sip from his teacup, turned on his computer, and began his daily slacking-off life.

Meanwhile, Luo An called a high-end Western restaurant and made a reservation for two seats on Saturday night, and also bought two movie tickets, planning to spend a relaxing and fun evening with Mona.

Mainly, Luo An didn't know why, but these past nights, Mona had been unusually temperamental, exhaustively demanding, and even when too tired to move, she was incredibly stubborn.

However, it had brought some new experiences to Luo An...

While Luo An was preoccupied with random thoughts, a familiar voice suddenly came from outside the team leader's office. Opening the door to the office, Luo An found that Reesi had returned to the Special Investigation Team, and on her face, surprisingly, there were some injuries.
