Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon

Chapter 50: The Dragon of Doom

Chapter 50: The Dragon of Doom

Kiona had jumped off Kael’s back before he entered the fray to kill the undead because he needed more Soul Power than her.

Not to mention, she wanted to see him in battle so she could learn a thing or two from his fighting style, and the more she watched, the more numb she became.

This was the first time she had properly seen her master fight, and to say she wasn’t shocked would be an understatement. He hadn’t even used that special attack he used to finish Stephan, yet he looked so deadly in battle.

He was facing almost two dozen monsters of his rank and still dominating the battle. His speed was unmatched, and if she blinked, he would be in a completely different place.

His battle style was also much different than hers, as she usually just fought randomly in her human form. Instincts made up her entire battle form.

However, Kael was different. Even when he was fighting such a fast-paced battle with so many enemies, his mind was clear, and every move of his was precise and planned.

There was grace in his movements, and every single one of them seemed as if he had been performing them for years.

There was a slickness in his moves that made him seem so... mesmerizing. She didn’t care about the monsters dying, but about the handsome face that did all of that.

In battle, he looked even more attractive as a blush crept across her face. She smiled, looking at his handsome face among the falling ashes.

His silver hair fluttered in the wind, as his crimson eyes were cold, yet held amusement in them. His tall frame easily dwarfed her, and she had to look up at him.

She felt like she was a part of that whirlwind revolving around him. As he turned toward her, her heart thumped against her chest, giving her a feeling she had never experienced before.

Biting her lips, she thought, ’Is it that time? It shouldn’t be, then why am I feeling as if just his presence was triggering my heart?’

After a few seconds, she calmed down and thought, ’It doesn’t matter. Master has said he plans to give me a high position in the Empire, and that means a position close to him. I just need to become worthy of it.’

"Come here!"

Hearing his gentle voice, Kiona shivered. Was he still the same person who slaughtered so many monsters easily? How could he be so gentle yet so ruthless?

She went near him and found him holding a golden earring in the shape of a leaf. He smiled at her and asked, "This is an accessory which boosts your defenses by a small percentage. Do you want it?"

She nodded excitedly.

"Good!" Her master smiled at her and got closer to her, so close that she could practically smell his body fragrance. Then, he touched her ear, sending shivers down her body.

"Don’t worry, it won’t hurt," he said, pinning it in her ear. It really didn’t hurt, but that wasn’t the real reason for her shivering.

Kiona touched the earring dangling in her left ear and smiled, "Thanks for the present, Master."

...

Kael looked in amusement at the cute lioness who seemed over the moon after getting the earring. She tried to suppress her excitement, but her sweeping tail and twitching ears gave it away.

It was the first loot he had gotten from this Labyrinth, so he decided to give it to her. He would be lying if he said he didn’t like her.

He was already a die-hard fan of monster girls back on Earth, so now that he had a cute lioness as his subordinate who also seemed to share similar feelings, why wouldn’t he take advantage of that?

Still, he had to confirm some things before he got into a relationship. He also didn’t want to get into one before securing himself.

He shook his head and said, "Let’s go inside before the other teams come here. They are a good source of Soul Power, but I want to check something else first."

Seeing her nod in understanding, he turned around to look at the black stone split doors that led inside the Nether Fortress. They were currently on a platform added to it for the patrolling teams.

The moment they stepped inside, the atmosphere shifted.

It was darker. Not just the absence of light, but a heavier kind of dark—like the air itself was weighed down with something old and angry.

The narrow hall stretched ahead, dimly lit by the flickering of the oil lamps embedded in the walls. The walls were made of the same deep black bricks, absorbing light and reflecting nothing. Everything echoed—every step, every breath, every soft whisper.

Surprisingly, the Nether Fortress was quite empty from the inside, as Kael had expected it to be the center of monster gathering. Still, he couldn’t underestimate this place as it was the main base of this floor and also probably the place where he could find the Floor Boss.

They moved down along the narrow, dark corridor, keeping their detection skills continuously activated so they could find the monsters. The only problem was that these undead monsters were weird on his radar since they technically weren’t alive.

’Perhaps it’s the Soul Force which my skill detects, so I can detect them too.’

He sighed and turned to his right when he found a T-section in the corridor. Only then did he sense a few presences ahead—rather powerful ones at that.

He gestured to Kiona to remain silent as he stealthily moved forward and reached another end where he hid behind a rock and tried to look at the monsters on the other end.

His face showed mild surprise as he thought, ’Dayum! Even Piglins?’

In the other corner, a total of three humanoid monsters with the head of a pig were standing. Unlike the Skeletons, this group seemed intelligent, and they were also armed with armor and weapons.

After silent observation, he returned to his original position and retreated along with Kiona, who was confused with his actions and asked,

"Master, didn’t we come here to kill and rank up? Where are we going?"

"We are finding the Spawners. They are most important for us," Kael said as he continued to walk straight. "Once we find the Spawner, then we can clear up the fortress in one clean sweep."

He smiled, "This is just the first floor, and although it has exceeded the danger level of usual first floors, it’s still the first floor, so I believe there is only one Spawner. Once we find that, we’ll know from where the monsters will come, and we won’t fall into a situation where we are cornered."

His plan was quite a simple one for this. He would just explore the whole fortress once, finding the locations of enemies and the Spawner.

Once that happened, he could choose the enemies to face and also where to face them. As much as he had confidence in himself, he didn’t believe he could fight all of them if things went south and they were cornered by many monsters.

One of the major rules of battle was to know the enemy and also the location.

There was also the Boss. Who knew if it would come out and join the fray to eliminate them?

He needed the map.
