Chapter 198 198: The Reason
Elias arrived at the Creator camp, which was heavily protected. Summoned Beasts could be seen all around the campsite, patrolling regularly.
Only those from the Creator Class were allowed an entry into the camp. The students didn't stop Elias from entering, believing him to be one of them.
After entering the camp, Elias was able to see even more students of the Creator Class. All of them had truly gathered at the same place.
Most of the students in those places were those that hadn't lost their Summoned Beasts yet. But there was also a small minority that had managed to survive, despite losing their Beasts.
Even though those students were allowed to stay in the camp, they were also looked down on. Even the descendants of the big families that had lost their Beasts, were looked down on by the other descendants.
Most of the top rankers in the Destroyer Class killed those that were defeated at their hands. If someone had survived, it was believed that they either lost against the lower ranks, or they begged for their life after losing.
It made everyone look down on them, without even knowing the reality. They weren't even invited for any strategy meetings. They were just seen as a burden, more than anything.
"How long are we going to wait? Can't we just have an outright battle and kill them all? What's the need to be so cautious?"
"It's probably because the top rankers from our side are being cautious. The stronger you are, the more scared you are about losing your life. So it isn't that surprising."
"So basically they are just cowards."
"Shhh! Don't speak that loudly! If anyone heard you, I would also be screwed with you! Don't drag me down with you if you have a death wish!"
Inside the camp, there were many people who were growing tired of waiting, and having these small-scale battles while the top rankers simply stayed back.
Most of the students didn't even have hopes of clinching the top rank. They just wanted to survive until the end, and get back faster. The more that end was being delayed, the more restless they felt.
Slowly, yet steadily, the anger was starting to be diverted to the top rankers. It wasn't just the case in the creator faction. The Destroyer Faction had the same state.
"Are we still not going to do anything? The lower ranks are starting to talk about us. I don't know about you, but I don't like being called a coward."
"Why do you let the words of the insignificant ones affect you? We aren't here to please them. We are here to win!"
"Do you think we will win while sitting back on our asses?"
The restlessness in the camp was something that was noticed by higher ranks as well. There was also a split in opinions at top rank about the strategy they needed to follow.
One side was adamant on one battle to end it all. While the other side wanted to use their tactics to reduce the chances of failure.
Both sides were equally strong amongst the top ranks, especially since the First Ranker hadn't taken any sides yet.
"Do you think we don't know that?! The only reason we are even acting cautiously, is because we don't know the whereabouts of that boy. Until now, Elias Ashborn hasn't shown himself."
"Without him on their side, our side is a little stronger. We have lost less people than them. But if he is included, then we are on the weaker side at the moment."
"Isn't that all the more reason to take action? We should finish it before Elias joins them."
Even if Elias was out of the top ten ranks in his test, the Creator Class was paying particular attention to him, especially since he held the first rank in the initial phase of this test.
His name was still lit brightly in the scroll, which meant that he still hadn't been caught.
"What if this is their trick? Maybe he is already with them. What if they are simply trying to lure us, and make us underestimate them?"
"If they had that boy, why won't they just attack us? So you think they are so clever and patient that they would come up with a plan like this?"
"We can never underestimate them. In this test, we absolutely can't afford to lose. It's a question of our dignity. We need to consider all possibilities. We can't be hasty?"
The back and forth between the two sides continued for over an hour, and they still didn't reach a decision.
"In that case, why don't we do this?" someone said. "Why don't we send someone to find out if they have Elias or not?"
"You mean you want someone to sneak inside their camp and investigate? Won't it just be sending them to their deaths? We can't afford to lose more forces."
"Who said we need to send those who can fight? Aren't there a few who are useless to us anyway since they already lost their Beasts?"
"That..."
"Their class abilities are already sealed, and they lost their Beast contracts. They won't be detected by their formations. They can sneak inside that camp more easily."
"It does sound feasible. But will they agree?"
"Do they have any other choice? It's for the greater good."
"I agree. We should make use of them."
"I agree as well. It's better than waiting here for god knows how long."
"I second the motion."
The two sides that were initially divided, finally agreed to something in the second hour of their discussion, and came to a conclusion.
It was that they needed to make use of the students that had already been defeated once, yet managed to survive.
....
Elias arrived in the camp, still thinking about ways to give him the reason to show off. He had thought of a few possible methods, and all of them required making use of the top rankers in this camp.
Fortunately, he didn't even need to put any of the plans into action as he was given a great reason right after he stepped inside.
What do you think?
