Chapter 186: New Battlefield
"You will have twenty-four hours. You can use that time to strategize with your soul beasts, make alliances with your classmates, or hide yourself in this vast world. There are no other rules except the ones I have mentioned. If someone dies, they can only blame themselves for it."
Helen finished her explanation, which was short. There were only two points to consider. The humans couldn't use their abilities, no matter what happened, and the Beasts had to do all the heavy lifting to get scores.
"After twenty-four hours, I will personally seal all your abilities, and the test will officially begin. Put this time to good use."
After she finished speaking, a timer materialized atop the scrolls, ticking down from twenty-four hours with each passing second.
She also summoned a throne, which materialized next to Elten. For the next twenty-four hours, there was nothing for them to do except wait.
"Do you want to work together?" Once the rules were mentioned, many eyes rested on Elias.
He was the top ranker. Even if he was in the auxiliary class, many people looked forward to working with him. They believed that he could increase their chances of success.
He was known to have a weapon that could even kill a Professor. If they could get that weapon for their Constellation, then they could truly stand out from the rest.
"I am not interested." Wings unfurled behind Elias's back, and he rose into the sky. He took the direction of the sun as his guide and flew away, leaving the others behind.
"Tch, that arrogant bastard! Just because I was being nice, did he really think I needed his help?" The boy who had asked for help clicked his tongue.
He also turned away and joined with the other students to create another strong alliance with the founding family descendants and other top rankers.
There were a few more among them who preferred to act alone and left the group. But most of them still agreed to work together, at least during the initial phase.
In the sky, Elten opened an eye and observed Elias who was flying away. He could see that there were a few people from the Creator Class that were flying after Elias who was the top ranker.
Elias was already marked by them as the target, and they didn't want to lose him.
He closed his eyes again, the corner of his lips creeping up.
....
"Where are we going now?" Astralious asked Elias, who was flying away from the group.
"We are going somewhere else," Elias vaguely answered. Even he wasn't certain if he was going in the right direction since he didn't know his current location.
There were many street signs across the roads, but they were all in languages that he couldn't quite understand. Even the language of this country felt unfamiliar.
"We might be on the completely opposite side of the ocean." The thought made him frustrated, as it would take most of his time to even get back to his home if that was the case.
It took him over half an hour to finally get the complete understanding of his whereabouts. He also gathered a map, and used it to find his destination.
He soon reached the ocean, which looked endless when he stood at the shore. The sun was behind him, casting his shadow over the ocean water.
"If we fly nonstop, we should be able to reach that place with an hour to spare," he mumbled, even as a part of him kept trying to persuade him against going to that place.
"Are you going to keep following me?" he suddenly asked.
"Should we allow you to run away instead?" An answer came from the back, with two people landing on the sand.
"For the next twenty three hours, we can't kill you. So we can only follow you and wait for the time. It's nothing personal, kid. It's just that you're a top ranker, and you will give us the best score."
"Even if I give you the best score, it can only go to one person? The other person will go empty handed, and might even fail if they get no score. At the end of the day, one of you is going to betray the other. Isn't that right?"
Elias's words touched the nerves of the two people in the back.
Both of them wanted the points that Elias would give them, but they also knew that only one person could get it. In the end, it was going to be a fight between the two of them.
"You don't have to worry about that." One of them suddenly smiled, catching sight of another person flying in their direction. "Isn't there one more person here that we can target?"
"Hmm?" Elias also felt the presence, which belonged to someone from the Destroyer Class. It was so faint that even he could barely sense it.
"Do as you please," he flew into the sky, and started treading the ocean. After getting high enough in the sky, he summoned his Jet and controlled it with Creation Control.
The cockpit opened, and he sat inside. The engine blasted loud, and the jet that had started falling down from the sky, regained its balance before the tip could touch the water.
Once regaining the balance, the jet soared into the sky again and started flying towards the destination.
"As expected of a wealthy kid. He brought quite a few treasures with him," the children of the Creator Class summoned their beasts, and landed on them.
The beasts unfurled their wings and chased after Elias. The second person from the Destroyer Class wasn't far behind either and rushed over the ocean.
It was only a matter of time before more people flew above the ocean, from both classes, as another battlefield seemed to be created, wherever Elias was traveling.
"The number of people chasing after us is increasing." Astralious peeked out of the jet, and said.
"Let them come. I'm long past the stage where I need to be worried about some children. They should be the one worried if they come after me."
What do you think?
