Chapter 405: Arriving At The Angel Encampment
"Who are you, and what are you doing at our encampment!?"
One of those very angelic youths was the first to notice the arrival of a black-haired woman and a little girl. This aggressive youth was, in actuality, centuries old—but for those in the Ascension Tower, that was still considered young.
"We don't mean to intrude," Sylvy's mother spoke softly, naturally a harmless-looking person. "I'm friends with Miky, so if you could please call for her, I would be extremely grateful."
"Miky?" The youth wore a puzzled expression. "Who is that??"
"Well, no matter!" He shook his head, his Early Godlike Rank power flaring. "Whoever you've come here to see, it's still a crime to illegally trespass into this encampment. I'll be taking the both of you back to the Commander for questioning!"
"N-No, wait a second, I really do know someone here—Mikaela! And if you'd just tell her my name, I'm sure—"
WAAA!
"You dare!??" The Angel Youth's four sets of wings sprouted out from his back, with his raging aura causing cracks to spread on the branch ground around them. "Not only have you trespassed, but you've also been brazen enough to use Her Holiness's name in vain! Even going so far as to tarnish it with such nonsense of friendship!! Utterly unforgivable!!"
OOOM!
"For this, I shall take one of your arms as penance!!"
The youth erupted in golden brilliance, attracting the attention of the other Angels in the surroundings. They instantly paused what they were doing and flew over, getting themselves good spectating spots.
"What is Ryger doing?" an Angel Youth asked.
"I was here when the encounter first happened, and from what I could hear from a safe distance, that woman and the little girl are intruders."
"Intruders?" a different Angel Youth repeated while taking a good look at the so-called intruders. "...For an intruder, the woman is pretty…"
A few others followed his lead and obtained a better look at them, leading to the nodding of heads. It was impossible to deny that Sylvy's mother was a country-toppling beauty—even among Angel standards.
But unfortunately, such a flawless face and body would soon be erased…
"Ryger truly does know no chill," a woman Angel Youth muttered. "I wonder what made him so angry this time."
RUMBLE—!
"Do you have anything you wish to say before I slice off one of your arms!?" Ryger shouted with a booming voice that urged Sylvy's mother to cover her ears. "If not, then I will begin right away!"
Facing the overwhelming aura of the hotheaded Angel Youth, Sylvy's mother continued trying to explain herself. However, after realizing that she'd never get through to him, her kind expression frosted over.
'To protect Sylvy, I'll have to fight.'
A green, murderous energy seeped out of her, quickly rolling out in waves. The golden aura of the Angel Ryger was overshadowed in an instant, and though he tried throwing up his golden shield barriers, it was too late.
The green energy condensed into a javelin and broke through the barrier of sound an untold number of times. The cap on lightspeed was also shattered, with the javelin of the nature element achieving speeds that far exceeded what an Early Godlike Rank could unleash.
"Wh-Wha!??"
SHWOOOM!
All defenses—obliterated!
"Don't worry, you won't die."
What Sylvy's mother said was meant to be comforting for the Angel Youth whose life was flashing before his eyes. However, it was anything but.
"N-Nooo…!"
Just as the green javelin reached a distance of less than a centimeter away from Ryger's right eye, it stopped in mid-motion. Powerful blasts of wind blew behind Ryger as a result of this abrupt dispersal of momentum, causing him to froth from the mouth and faint.
"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"
"Ryger was actually defeated so effortlessly!?"
"Who in the Holy Father is this Muscle Mommy!??"
FWIP!
A woman bathed in golden light suddenly appeared above the commotion. She had two halos hovering above her head and was so radiant that she could be described as akin to a blazing sun.
"!?!?"
"It's the Divine Priestess!"
"Divine Priestess Memphis has personally arrived!?"
Looking over the area, Memphis's cold, crossed eyes emitted a golden glow. But once she saw that Ryger was already incapacitated, the glow dimmed and she descended to the mother-daughter pair.
"You have done me a favor, Miss Lilia," she said with a small, respectful smile. "If you hadn't taught that unruly fool a lesson, I'm afraid I would have had to, and I wouldn't have been anywhere near as light-handed as you were."
"N…No, I just…" The coldness of Lilia's expression was long gone, and in its place was a helpless frustration that came out looking quite adorable. "I didn't mean to scare him so badly… I tried… I tried talking, but he just wouldn't listen…"
Memphis laughed a little. "You are mistaken, Miss Lilia. I am not chastising you—rather, sincerely thanking you. But enough of this matter; that fool will be further punished for obstructing a friend of Her Holiness later. For now, why don't you and your daughter follow behind me? Her Holiness requests your presence at her residence."
"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"
"So this pretty woman was telling the truth!?"
"She's actually friends with Her Holiness!!?"
"Unbelievable! I didn't even think Her Holiness had friends!"
"Hwa!? What insolence!" A Half-step Godlike Rank Angel Youth scowled at the one who just spoke. "Of course she has friends! Just not those at the level that the likes of you would know about. Clearly, this refined young miss is a renowned powerhouse—I mean, just look at how easily she took down Ryger!"
Leaving the area where the chattering Angels were yapping away, Memphis guided Lilia and her daughter up the root they were staying at. For thousands of miles they traveled, yet did so in a matter of seconds.
Eventually, they reached a part that had a giant, colorful tent propped up. This was where the Archangel herself was personally residing.
"What are you standing outside for?" said Memphis. "Follow me in."
What do you think?
