Naruto didn't think too much about it and was already on his way toward the Hyuga Clan’s compound. However, the compound was heavily guarded, and as an outsider, he couldn’t get in.

Where else would the Hyuga Clan’s princess live if not in the compound? Such a traditional family wouldn’t let their members live elsewhere unless they married out of the clan.

But for the Hyuga, especially to maintain their pure bloodline, marrying outside the clan was rare… especially for the clan’s princess. It was possible for her to have some freedom during the day, but staying out at night? Hiashi would never allow such a thing.

Because of this, Naruto had far fewer chances to interact with Hinata than with Ino. Their time together was minimal.

"Hanabi! Come here."

Hinata’s younger sister, Hanabi, turned around and saw Naruto squatting by the gates of the Hyuga Clan’s compound. She paused for a second before walking over with steady composure.

"Naruto-nii, you called me?"

"Where's your sister?"

"She just got home. Why?" Hanabi asked curiously.

"Uh…" He was about to brush it off but decided against it, "Are you free right now? Can you quietly call your sister out for me?"

He emphasized the word ‘quietly’, hoping this mischievous girl would understand what he meant.

Hanabi, sporting a rather messy short haircut like a tomboy, blinked at him in confusion before turning around and heading back inside.

After waiting for a while, Hinata really came out.

As usual, she glanced around to make sure no one was watching, and then jogged over to Naruto. The scene was so beautiful that Naruto couldn't help but gulp.

"Why are you here?" She asked, brushing a lock of hair from her forehead and naturally tucking it behind her ear.

“I'm out of money.”

"Huh?" Hinata was taken aback.

Naruto blinked innocently. All his money had gone to Tsunade as part of the initial funding for the communication device project. Tsunade had promised him 1% of the profits, a slice taken from her own 2% share.

However, Naruto had forgotten to set aside some cash for himself when he gave those money. He was so used to having money that it didn’t hit him until a few days later that he was flat broke!

It can be said that he has gone bankrupt.

Waiting for dividends? That project could take years to break even. He didn’t want to ask Ino for help, worried she might catch on to his situation.

Tsunade had money, but Naruto didn’t dare bother her, afraid she might tear him apart.

Tenten also has money, but he needs to pay back the money owed to that rich woman. Naruto doesn't want to do the mission for the time being, but it's not a good idea to delay it for too long, so…

He thought of Hinata and reluctantly came to ask for some money like a gigolo.

"You ran out of money?" Hinata smiled softly, then pulled out a small wallet, "I left in a hurry, so I only brought a little. But you can use it first."

"Thanks."

Naruto shamelessly accepted her offer. After all, his house was rented, so if he didn't take the money, he’d be living on air. As he felt the thickness of the cash, he realized it was actually a decent amount.

They started walking down a small path toward Konoha’s Main Street. After a few steps, Hinata's hand naturally slipped into Naruto’s. She didn’t resist, as by now, she was used to it, even in broad daylight.

There were not many people on the street, and just as Hinata was wondering why Naruto had gone silent, she turned her head, only to be surprised with a sudden kiss, and her pupils widened in shock.

The golden sunlight couldn't pierce the thick, leafy canopy above, allowing only a few lucky beams to fall to the ground. Hinata's white shoes gently lifted as she stood on tiptoe.

A soft breeze blew, and the scenery turned tender and serene.

The next day.

Yugao, who had not been seen for a long time, suddenly came to Naruto. She picked the lock on his window, letting herself in and casually sitting on his couch like it was her home.

Dressed in a comfortable outfit of a short-sleeved shirt and a skirt, her appearance surprised Naruto. He couldn't help but wonder when he'd last seen her dressed like this and found himself glancing at her more than once.

"Get ready, something’s going on. You're coming with me to the Anbu Prison later."

"Why?"

"We caught someone, he's not a Root’s Shinobi, but he has a Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal on his tongue." Yugao said calmly, "The people in the Sealing Team can't remove it, so you have to come."

"Hmm, am I getting paid?"

"Can I not pay it back?" Naruto asked hesitantly, feeling a little embarrassed, "I don’t want to do any missions for now, so I’m not making any money."

To his surprise, Yugao actually nodded.

"How much do you want?" She glanced at the poor dog owner and added, "As long as it's under one hundred million, it's fine. Any more than that, and it’s a loan."

Naruto was shocked and stared at Yugao in disbelief.

"How do you have so much money?" He asked, genuinely shocked.

At his words, Yugao gave Naruto a long look, as if she was looking at a fool.

"When did I ever say I didn’t have money?"

"Well, you never said you were this rich either! If I had known..." Naruto cut himself off mid-sentence. Once a wealthy man himself, he was now experiencing the harsh contrast of being broke.

When he had money, he hadn’t thought much of it. But now, being without it felt like real pain. He don't have time to complete the mission, and now he’s being forced to do free labor… This thing is much more thrilling than any mission.

"Some of it's mine, the rest is Hayate's." Yugao said nonchalantly.

Hearing this, Naruto's throat tightened. He suddenly remembered that the person in front of him was still a widow.

"Sorry."

"It's fine. It's been six years." She shook her head and said, "A lot of the memories have become distant, and when I think about them now, they seem so blurry."

"He wasn’t in the best health, but he always took care of me."

"Um, I have a question… not sure if I should ask." Naruto said hesitantly.

"Ask away."

"This money…" Naruto was a little nervous, ‘What if I took Gekko Hayate’s inheritance? That would be even more uncomfortable than borrowing from a widow.’

"It's my money." Yugao reassured him, dispelling his worries, "Hayate's inheritance was all donated to the Academy and the orphanage."

"That's good, I'll take ten million ryo then." Naruto said without hesitation.

Naruto’s acceptance of the task meant no payment, so Yugao was essentially paying out of pocket to ask for his help. Well, completing this mission would benefit her too.

With Kakashi being half a Hokage, the position of the Anbu Commander is now vacant. While she isn’t strong enough to fill it, she did have a shot at being Deputy Commander.

But she is still being suspended indefinitely. She wasn’t ready to watch the career she had poured years into wither and die.
