"With her being in such a state, staying here won’t do her any good." Nao said, "Besides, if I really go there alone, I probably won’t be able to adapt very well."
"It’d be nice to have someone to accompany me. We could do things together. Actually, when you think about it, crossing over twenty years of time is pretty magical."
"If no one else witnesses it, even if you tell others, they might not believe you."
"Huh? Well, that does make some sense, but..." Naruto looked down at Sara, who looked like a living corpse, curled up in her dirty, dusty robe.
"She might not agree to come. And what if she recovers one day and wants to restore her country? If we take her away now, wouldn’t that give her no chance?"
Nao frowned and shot him a look.
"When did you become so kind-hearted?"
"What do you mean? I’ve always been… "
"Oh, really? I wonder who it was that tricked me into giving up my body and then persuaded me to go to the future." Nao squatted there. Girls learn how to have a bad temper without any instruction.
Well, Naruto had no response to that.
"What was your name, Kitahiko?" She said, her mood souring as she tilted her head up, "How are you so good at deceiving people? Even giving me a wrist guard, obviously with ulterior motives."
Naruto rolled his eyes, ‘Can’t you just call that life experience?’
"That wasn’t trickery! It was something you willingly agreed to. Ahem, enough with the nonsense. Fine, let’s bring her along. It’s not too much trouble anyway. Go ask her, though, just in case she’s turning into an idiot."
"You’re the idiot." Nao stood up. Before even reaching Sara, she was hit by a pungent odor. She didn't know how long the poor girl had been out of it, but she was really filthy.
Still, Nao wasn’t disgusted with her. After all, she heard that Sara was once a pampered princess. So seeing her in such a pitiful state now made Nao feel sympathetic.
They say it’s hard to leave your homeland. When Nao came here, she was confused. She heard that the journey would take a long time and she hadn’t brought anything with her. Now, it suddenly dawned on her, that it might be good to have a companion.
And there was no one more suitable than Sara. After entering a different timeline, they would have someone to talk to.
"Is there any place nearby where she can clean up? I’ll take her to wash up. Oh, and is there any food?" Nao started to get busy, and the last bit of uneasiness in her heart disappeared.
"There is, probably underground." Naruto was relieved as well. After thinking it over, he felt it wasn’t a bad deal. He could bring two people back to keep each other company and it would save himself a lot of trouble.
He couldn’t be some kind of playboy, forever mingling among women.
Sometimes, he also wanted to sleep alone at home, lying down in all kinds of places. After lounging, he would bask in the sun, get a popsicle and eat it everywhere… just stay like that.
His mind wandered as he led the two girls underground, finding a flowing water source beneath Roran. Nao was busy comforting Sara and helping her wash up.
Since she had learned how to care for patients in the Medical Department, Nao’s movements were gentle, and her tone didn’t agitate Sara.
Naruto waited outside, keeping an eye out as the two girls tidied up.
About an hour later, Nao brought out a cleaned-up Sara. Naruto glanced at her and could see a clear difference compared to the princess he had met two months ago.
Back then, Sara was lively and innocent, always hiding behind the Queen of Roran. Her eyes sparkled as if they could speak, full of curiosity about the world.
But now, when Sara looked up at him, her eyes were dull and lifeless, as though they had lost their shine. It was like she had been beaten down, with no focus in her gaze.
She had been through too much trauma. A flower that had grown in a greenhouse had been shattered by the sudden war. The princess, who once had to flee, no longer had anywhere to escape to… the kingdom, the people, the Queen, all gone, swallowed by the vast desert.
But thanks to the fact that the Queen of Roran was very popular and died for Roran, the survivors hid her and protected her well, so at least her life was not in danger.
Naruto wasn’t too bothered. Looking at the two women who had been cleaned up, he pointed to a spot and said, "Ask her if the Ryumyaku is down there."
"Oh." Nao did as he said and softly asked Sara.
Sara looked up at Nao. She didn’t know her, but recognized that Nao had just helped her wash up. Then, she glanced at the blond-haired Naruto beside her, ‘Oh, I knew him.’
"Mm." Sara nodded and allowed herself to be led.
Once they found the Ryumyaku, the rest was simple. Naruto could activate the Ryumyaku by himself, and with the two women standing by, he placed his hand on the Ryumyaku.
A violent storm of purple Chakra began swirling wildly, and Naruto activated Ido’s Prophecy at the right moment. Time and space were twisted, the rules were broken, and Nao and Sara were both brought 20 years into the future with him.
Naruto was able to remain conscious as they traveled through the river of time, but the two women couldn’t. They closed their eyes and seemed to be dreaming.
Naruto glanced down at the semi-transparent blue river of time beneath his feet. The beautiful scenery, reminiscent of a starry sky, made him feel the urge to slice through it.
Time travel was absurd enough, and he didn’t want to give anyone else the chance to do it again. The best solution was to cut it off, burn the bridge after crossing it.
After thinking about it for a moment, he mused that time should be under the control of the Shinigami.
‘Maybe I could try summoning it, even if it was just a phantom.’
With that thought in mind, Naruto attempted to use the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. He heard a gust of eerie wind, and to his surprise, a giant phantom of the Shinigami appeared behind him.
The shadow loomed heavily, following him as he crosses the long river of time.
With its blue face and sharp fangs, the Shinigami’s white robe draped over its body. Naruto naturally sensed the presence of the phantom of the Shinigami and furrowed his brow. He prepared to try to mobilize the phantom of the Shinigami to pull out the white dagger gripped in its mouth.
Whether it worked or not, Naruto decided to try it first and worry about everything else later.
"Did it move?" Naruto wanted to turn around, but the currents of the time stream were crashing against him, making it impossible to look back.
What he didn’t see was that behind the Shinigami’s phantom stood a massive black figure, towering several times higher than the Shinigami, holding a long sword as black as ink.
Rather than saying that Naruto was controlling the Shinigami’s phantom to draw its sword and slash at the long river of time behind him, it would be more accurate to say that the huge black figure behind was forcing the Shinigami’s phantom to take action.
As the Shinigami’s phantom slashed down, Naruto strained his ears to listen, but he didn't hear a sound.
"Huh?" Unfortunately, he couldn't turn around to check.
Just as he was wondering, he suddenly heard a louder explosion behind him. Naruto's eyes lit up and he thought to himself, ‘It actually has a delay?’
Behind him, the long sword as black as ink cut off the long river of time, tearing apart the starry, flowing river of time, leaving only an endless dark void.
The Shinigami’s phantom trembled, and it shakily returned the white dagger into its mouth.
What do you think?
