Chapter 184: Committee's Head?
While that was going on, Lillian and Reph had reached their destination. They sat beside each other on a desk. She glanced around the room they were in, feeling the stares they got from other students in the room.
Of course, most of it was on the Prince, who didn't give much attention to them except for some waves.
She turned her eyes back to the front, watching a young man, she believed to be from the 2nd year.
"In a months time, a tournament will take place, so as the Student Council Office, we will be taking part helping to set it up."
Lillian tapped her chin, thinking.
'Help. But it's mainly just dealing with the statistics side of things.'
She then paused her thought, remembering something.
'Not much action during the academy side of things... Which is to be expected since this moment is to just build up your bond with characters in the game...'
She twirled her hair, 'I wonder how high my bond is with Marionette if it was still a game...' It must be pretty high, considering all that they've been through.
It should be around the level of dating, which they unofficially are at this point.
Lillian gave a silly grin. Although Marionette consistently teased and flustered her, she was still winning their little competition by not giving in and kissing her. This was all that was needed to be official.
'Heh. Edging~.'
As Lillian giggled like a fool, the second year had finally finished, leaving them in the room as he went out to fetch someone.
Reph turned towards her, bumping and nudging elbows with her. Lillian broke out of her daydream before turning towards the Prince, who asked:
"You got all that, right?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah. We just gotta help with setting up the upcoming event, calculate the expenses, accept or refuse people who want to set up a stand near the colosseum, and etcetera..."
Reph nodded, "I'm glad you heard." He then paused before adding, "May I also talk to you about something?"
"Hm? Sure...?"
"It's about your girlfriend."
"W-we're not dating...!" Lillian turned her face slightly to the side, then added timidly, "Well... Yet. We're not dating yet."
Reph scratched the back of his head, "Well, you're going to need to speed it up."
"Wha—? Why?"
Lillian stared at the Prince, who stared back at her silently. She watched as he sighed and said:
"Because I get a bad premonition that I'm going to keel over and die next month." He rested his elbows on the table, resting his chin on the back of his interlocked fingers. "And that's not by overdosing on coffee."
Lillian's furrowed her eyebrows, confused.
"What makes you say that...? Are you implying Marionette is beginning to make her move on you or something?"
Reph blinked at her — his eyes glazed over as he deliberated about telling her what happened in the forest.
"... She already gave me a warning."
"A... Warning?"
Reph gave a brief nod, "I won't say any more in case she suddenly finds out I told you this, but do hurry."
"Well h-hold on. I see no reason for her to do what you are implying." Lillian held up her hands, alarmed by the sudden deadline, "Even if she does go through with it, what then? What plan would she have after assassinating you?"
"I don't know, and I'm too paranoid by that woman to care what she'll do after." He shook his head.
Lillian gave a small frown.
"Aren't you going to do anything?" She tilted her head, slightly concerned. "This is your life we're talking about, after all."
Reph sighed, "Antagonising her would only further the chances she would go through with it... I don't want my family dealing with more issues than they're already facing."
His hand then twitched, his leg bumping up and down uncontrollably.
"Especially my brother... I don't wish to trouble my brother any more than I have already..."
Just as Lillian was about to open her mouth, the second year came back, walking beside a woman with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and a scar over her right eye.
Her eyes scanned the room, lingering on the Prince and a few other individuals. Her eyes eventually met Lillian's eyes, who stared at her, intensely.
Lillian felt this woman was familiar from somewhere... She then lit up, once realising, who she was.
'Isn't she Beatrice? The current Head of the Student Council Committee—?'
"Nice to see you again, Lilly."
Lillian stiffened, hearing her nickname, which Marionette had only given her. She looked around, rapidly, noticing that the Assassin wasn't there.
She raised an eyebrow, before looking towards the front, finding the blonde woman staring at her with a smile.
Lillian watched as she gave a wave before turning to the other volunteers in the room.
"Welcome to the Student Council. I'm glad to see..." The blonde woman looked around again, quietly counting, "23 volunteers for this year."
She tapped her chin, "I thought we'd get more to be honest." She then shrugged, "I guess it's close to exams now. Have to save time for studying. Anyway, I'm just here to welcome you all and hope that most of you decide to stay after this year is over."
The Council Head then raised her hand, gesturing towards the door, "Since this meeting is all done now, you all may leave and return to whatever you were doing before. Please do make sure to constantly check your emails."
Everyone shuffled around and walked down the stair aisle. Reph and Lillian were no different, but as they were about to leave, they were stopped.
Well... Lillian was.
"Could I please borrow this lady beside you, your highness?" The blonde woman asked, walking towards them.
Reph raised an eyebrow, glancing towards Lillian, who shrugged.
"... Sure. I'll be going now." He walked towards the door before turning his head back and saying, "Do remember what we talked about, Lillian."
The girl nodded at the Prince, who then left, leaving her and the Committee's Head behind.
What do you think?
