Chapter 110: Three Empires, Four Kingdoms?
"How about we just calm down?" She glanced between the two before ending up at Marionette. "I'm sure you could've found some other way than using your foot."
Marionette shrugged before turning to the side, "Perhaps... But I chose the most likely method to keep you safe."
While Lillian gave her a deadpan expression, Millis's face was twitching. She gave a crooked smile before yelling:
"Ya make it sound like I was going to hurt her!" She then hugged Lillian's side. "How could I do that to such a pretty gal?!"
"Ehe..." Lillian scratched her cheek—a bit embarrassed by Millis's compliment.
Marionette couldn't help but narrow her eyes and click her tongue at Millis's closeness with Lillian.
"Who knows... but your presence irritates me greatly." Saying this, she pulled against Lillian's other arm, causing her to be in the centre of a tug-of-war.
Lillian sighed. She then flicked her fingers, sending two small, gentle water droplets toward their heads.
Marionette quickly snapped her head to the side, narrowly dodging the droplets with ease, whereas Millis flinched at the impact, letting go of Lillian and causing her to fall into Marionette's arms.
The purple-haired girl wiped the water running down her forehead. She then stared back at the two—briefly smiling—before checking her phone.
"Let's head to class." She said before pocketing her phone.
She then wrapped her arms around her chest.
"I'm sure ya guys would rather cuddle each other like koalas sitting down," she stated, turning her body left and right exaggeratedly.
Once she finished her gesture, she turned around and walked toward the entrance, leaving Lillian gaping with a blush.
Meanwhile, Marionette had a thoughtful look on her face. "I agree with her for once," she said, tightening her hold around Lillian.
The rabbit in her arms stared up flusteredly before pursing her lips and turning to the side.
"S-shush... Marionette..." she then tapped at her arms. "Could you unhand me now?"
Marionette hummed before nodding, "Very well. Let's hurry on to class."
After taking their seats near the window, Lillian glanced around, noting how everyone had already arrived—except for their homeroom teacher, Mr Mirage.
For a teacher of his status, it was comical for him to be later than his students. After all—shouldn't teachers like him set an example for the younger generation?
Unlike some educational facilities, they didn't have the policy to leave whenever a teacher was late for a certain amount of time.
Of course, that was only in her old world. Any sort of information that could be bestowed in this world should be taken at the highest priority.
After all, how could one expect to survive in the arduous world that the Trials constructed without even the most basic of information?
Lillian knew this firsthand.
Now that she inspected everyone closely, it seemed Gram, too, was missing. She shrugged.
'Meh...'
She then glanced to the side and stared as Marionette fidgeted with a black ballpoint pen. It danced in the air, spinning on her fingers, rolling up and down.
It then stopped as it landed and was held between her index finger and thumb.
She then looked up and saw that Marionette was staring down at her, leaning the side of her face into her palm.
She then asked:
"... Was there something you need?"
"Huh? Oh, uh... nah... just a bit bored."
"I see..."
She then turned away, staring out of the window and continuing to spin the pen.
Lillian stared at this and tried to do the same. Of course, she wasn't exactly good at it, letting it drop several times before giving up.
She sighed before turning to the side, staring at Millis, who watched her failed attempts with a teasing smile.
"Fufufu~... it seems ya are untrained in the arts of pen spinning! Watch and learn, junior!" she grinned, gripping her pen and spinning it.
She held it between her fingers, turning her hand and, in turn, spinning it. She really was quite experienced in the art of pen spinning, it seems.
That was until...
Clat. Clat. Clat.
Millis's pen clattered against the cover of her notebook before rolling over its spine and hitting the surface of the long wooden desk.
She gave it a small smile, closing her eyes before turning to Lillian and saying:
"It seems this pen couldn't handle my dexterous fingers."
"... So you dropping it definitely wasn't an accident, right?"
"Who ya take me for!?"
BAM!
Everyone's head snapped toward the entrance of the room. Mirage stood at the door with his black ponytail over his shoulder.
In his right hand, he held the scruff of a large man's neck. It was Gram. And he seemed to be... unconscious?
"Hello, hello, everyone! Sorry about the wait, I had to deal with this rascal." He walked into the room and chucked the unconscious man to the side before standing in front of the class.
Lillian smiled wryly as the muscular man hit the ground, waking up and groaning.
'Honestly... what a troublesome person.'
This was why she didn't like interacting with him in the game. Too much attention. Too much of a hassle to deal with.
Mirage held up a piece of chalk before brushing it against the dark green canvas that was the chalkboard.
"Today, we shall be going over the history of the Three Major Empires and the Supreme Alliance from the Trial world, otherwise known as Hearth. Also, about the Four Great Kingdoms in our world, Earth," he said in a tone that would feel like he was teaching toddlers.
He then drew three simplistic illustrations on the chalkboard with titles under them.
On the far left was an industrial-looking cog with the name under it, Cogna.
In the middle were two items crossed over each other. One was a short hammer, presumably used for forging, and the other was a quill, used to scribe. The name under this one was Echidna.
On the far right was a jagged sword and half-broken shield—a strange combination. And behind these two items was a spiky sun. Under these was the name, Bellona.
What do you think?
