I Am Fate

Chapter Three 

A man and woman in their early 40s and 50s respectively are sitted in what looks like an office, except it lacks the air which typical office should have.there are books piled crookedly in what should have been a desk and newspapers, dirty plates, used children diapers are strewn on the center of the table.behind the table sat a huge woman in her early 60s and her demeanor is that of a face that can morph to suit any context she found herself.she's all dolled up with heavy makeup that makes even the incredible Hulk pale in comparison to her own ugliness.but at least, she has enough sense to carry herself in a professional way.

   "Welcome once again,Mr and Mrs Tang.the paperwork for the adoption is ready but what remains is for you two to choose the child you want to adopt.so, I would call up my assistant to bring in the children"Mrs Cheng, the matron of CLEFT orphanage told her visitors in her characteristic baritone voice.

   The children in the orphanage has always wondered if this burley woman-man was actually a man that did gender surgery and forgot to alter his voice making it hard to believe she was truly a woman.aside from the voice, she also has beards on the jaw which has never been trimmed.there was a time she fought like a man against three 19 year olds of the orphanage all in the name of maintaining orderliness in the facility.the boys were all hospitalised for four weeks after the incident.

   This fact made the children fear her and dare not act funny around her.but at this moment, she was smiling at the three children brought in by her assistant, Mrs Kang, though this creepy smile seems more like a Tiger's grimace at it's prey and this sent chills down the spine of the children ushered in.

    Seeing the children, the Tang couple nodded approvingly and picked the youngest amongst the trio.then came the signing of papers and other procedures which officially made them the child's legal guardians.

   The children in CLEFT orphanage were playing in the playground when the gate of the facility creaked open and a 17 year old teenager stepped in with his jet black school bag.he moves slowly with his head hung down and each movement shows how shaky his leg is from fear.

   A ball wheezed from the boys playing and hit the boy's head and he stumbled forward foolishly, almost landing on his face.

    "Nice catch ziyou.maybe next time you could do better"one of the boys, Feng du, sneered and this elicited laughter from the other children watching the drama.it has always been like this since Ziyou came to the orphanage.although he reports to the matron, he is ignored.

   Going inside the orphanage, Ming Ziyou comes face to face with the last person that has always been his nightmare but surprisingly, she glared while passing with the visitors who apparently came for adoption.the lucky child that was adopted waved cheerfully at Ming Ziyou and he waved back.it could be said that the child was the only one in the entire orphanage willing to associate with him as he was literally an outcast in the orphanage.it was thanks to the kid that he survived from the deliberate hunger strikes Courtesy of the matron who could be said to be his arch nemesis.

    Suddenly, there was a loud crash as Ming Ziyou was about going to his room to change.turning back, he saw that it was a plate that had fallen from the hands of a boy around 12 years, Sun Cheng.it was as though time stopped for a moment as the two boys, one older and the other younger, stood motionless facing each other.
