Chapter 249
The attack of countless zombies didn’t end no matter how much they fired guns, mortars, and RPGs.
Behind the increasingly surging zombies, EL fanatics were firing guns.
They continued to advance towards the defense line without stopping, and only about 400m of distance remained.
As LA forces were hopelessly pulling triggers at the defense line that was about to be breached,
Bang!
Boom!
A powerful shell flew from behind the troops and tore apart a mutant that was throwing building debris.
Rumble rumble!
Soon, the sound of the earth shaking was heard from behind.
Aiden and Arian looked back.
Rumble! Rumble rumble!
"Is that a tank?"
"It seems so."
An M1 Abrams tank revealed its imposing presence as it charged forward in the center, along with the main force troops.
"Where did they get that from?"
"Impressive."
The main force advancing from the rear finally joined with the defense line.
With the added firepower, the number of zombies was instantly being deleted.
"Are you ready?"
"Of course."
Arian took a deep breath.
"Let’s go!"
Whoosh!
Vroom!
As Arian leaped forward, Aiden roughly pulled the bike’s accelerator.
Arian, breaking through the zombies in a straight line in an instant, swung her machetes dyed red in both hands at a speed invisible to the eye.
Thud thud
Zombie body parts flew through the air, raining down.
Aiden pulled the accelerator to the limit to keep up with Arian’s speed, and relentlessly pulled the shotgun trigger at zombies that got in the way.
Screech!
A Skull blocked Arian’s path, but Aiden’s shotgun, following closely behind, hit the Skull’s body, and immediately after, Arian swung her machete and blew off its head.
The EL fanatics mixed in here and there fell to Aiden’s bullets without even being able to react.
And they became a streak of red light, cutting through the battlefield in a straight line, rushing forward relentlessly.
Slicing through zombies, shotgun bullets knocking down zombies, the two who had been endlessly advancing forward finally saw an end.
Bang!
Arian, stamping the ground and blowing away zombies with the shockwave, confirmed that there were no more zombies in front of her, then kicked off the ground again and flew forward.
Aiden also didn’t stop, following such an Arian.
After running for a while without interference, a group of fanatics holding EL flags high and advancing slowly appeared in front of the two.
Only then did Arian slow down and stop, and Aiden immediately stopped his bike as well.
The EL fanatics also seemed to have spotted Arian and Aiden, and stopped as if nailed to the spot.
The distance between them was about 500m, and both sides just looked at each other silently.
After a moment, the front row of the fanatic group split left and right, and a man wrapped in a red robe slowly revealed himself, then took off the robe he was wearing.
"Oh? That. Isn’t that the guy called Randy?"
Arian recognized Randy’s face.
Aiden also nodded and walked towards the group of fanatics along with Arian.
As Aiden and Arian approached to within less than 100m, the EL group took out their weapons and made threats.
But when Randy restrained them, they lowered their weapons silently.
"Well, well, we meet again. It’s good to see you."
At Randy’s words, Arian’s eyebrow twitched.
"You’re the bastard who did this shit, aren’t you?"
Randy burst into laughter at Arian’s words.
"Hehe! Hahaha! I heard rumors, but I didn’t know it would be to this extent. I applaud you."
"What nonsense, just answer the question."
Before Randy could say anything more, Aiden spoke first.
"Can you control the zombies?"
"It’s just a small trick compared to monsters like you."
Randy said, his eyes shining.
"There’s nothing more to tell you and no need for you to know. After all, I just need to kill you two and then plan for the future. Hahaha!"
"I’ll kill you before that."
Arian said, emitting intense killing intent.
Randy kept laughing even while receiving Arian’s killing intent.
After laughing for a while, Randy stopped laughing and glared at Arian.
Whistle!
Thud! Thud! Thud!
When Randy whistled.
Behind Aiden and Arian, two Brutals, two Bigfoots, and two Skulls appeared.
"Aiden. Which side?"
Aiden quickly checked the spare magazines for his rifle.
"I’ll take the fanatics."
"Tch, alright. Don’t die!"
Whoosh!
Bang bang bang!
As Arian rushed towards the mutants, Aiden pulled the rifle trigger and jumped into the debris of collapsed buildings around.
The bullets aimed at Randy unfortunately missed as he quickly hid among his followers.
The fanatics also took out guns and melee weapons and began to attack Aiden.
Ratatata! Bang bang!
Thud thud thud!
Aiden kept pulling the rifle trigger at the fanatics rushing in with melee weapons towards the debris he was taking cover behind, and continued to jump between building debris and wrecked cars.
There weren’t that many fanatics with guns.
As far as Aiden could tell, about 10.
The remaining ones rushed at Aiden like moths to a flame, wielding various blunt weapons while holding metal plates as shields to cover their bodies.
-Die!
-You heretic!
-The flame will purify you!
-Oh! Holy fire!
-Oh! Flame!
While spouting nonsensical words and rushing in, Aiden continuously pulled the trigger at them and checked the remaining fanatics.
Aiden estimated the number of people shooting from behind and those rushing in.
’About 30 left?’
In the moment he took his eyes off, a fanatic holding a huge hammer rushed at Aiden with flashing eyes.
Aiden immediately jumped into the fanatic’s arms and grabbed and twisted the right hand holding the hammer.
Crack!
"Aaargh!"
The moment the fanatic writhed in pain, Aiden quickly drew a dagger from his waist and stabbed it into his neck.
Gurgle
As soon as the sound of foaming at the mouth was heard, he immediately pulled out the dagger, stepped back to take a stance, and pulled the trigger, focusing on the fanatics using guns from behind one by one.
Bang!
Bang!
Splat!
Splat!
Two gunshots rang out.
Two fanatics fell.
Seeing Aiden eliminating them one by one for certain, the fanatics, far from being intimidated, became even more frenzied and rushed in.
Whether the fanatics were going berserk or not, Aiden quickly moved positions and cut off the lives of the fanatics one by one.
Suddenly, when it became quiet with no more people rushing in, Aiden finally raised his body from cover and looked for Randy’s figure.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Behind Aiden, the sound of Arian fighting fiercely could be heard.
There was no worry that Arian would fall to the mutants.
Rather, the only thought was whether there might be another variable.
Aiden threw away the rifle that had run out of ammunition, drew his pistol, and slowly moved forward to find Randy.
* * *
Aiden, who had been moving forward continuously to find Randy, was walking on Hollywood Boulevard.
This place, once visited by countless people, was now left with only ruins and emptiness.
"Aiden!"
Randy’s voice was heard.
Aiden immediately took cover between cars and looked for where the gun was fired from.
"Hehe! Hehehe! Come out! It’s just you and me here!"
Aiden looked for where Randy’s voice was coming from.
He was standing in the middle of the road with his arms spread, constantly laughing.
Aiden, without saying anything, quietly stood up and slowly walked towards him.
As Aiden approached him, Randy stopped laughing and opened his mouth.
"You must be curious? Why I, with the fanatics, invaded LA."
"I’m not particularly curious."
"What?"
Randy’s eyes widened as if surprised by Aiden’s words.
"Anyway, guys like you will appear here and there until this era passes. Because the world is wide and there are many madmen like you."
"A-aren’t you curious? How I control the zombies, what I did with EL!"
Aiden looked at Randy indifferently through his helmet.
He slowly took off his helmet.
As Aiden’s bare face was revealed, Randy was taken aback.
"You! You! What are you!"
"What else, I’m a zombie with reason."
Aiden ignored Randy, who was freaking out, and continued speaking.
"There was a guy doing similar things a year ago. He ended up dead too. Now humanity has finished preparing to end the tiresome fight with zombies and regain their former appearance."
Aiden raised his pistol and put it to Randy’s head.
"You might have prepared something incredible too, and might have been enjoying imagining turning the world upside down while slowly building up your schemes from the bottom."
Aiden brought his face close to Randy’s.
"But, what ultimately came to you is this gun. Randy. Usually, villains have a lot to say when it’s time to die. You might want to ramble on, but I don’t want to listen. I’ve always disliked such villains."
"W-wait! I have research, research records! If you look at that..."
Bang!
Thud.
A hole opened in Randy’s head and he fell backward.
Aiden stared at Randy’s corpse.
"Research records... I should tell Ava. Ah, before that."
Bang bang! Bang!
"Just in case he comes back to life, it might be troublesome."
Aiden completely smashed Randy’s fallen head.
Then he set off towards where Arian was.
When Aiden arrived where Arian was, she was just blowing off the head of the last remaining Skull.
Thud
The body of the Skull with its head blown off collapsed.
Arian took out a blood pack from inside her clothes and drank the blood right away.
Aiden slowly approached Arian.
"Is it over?"
Arian, who had finished drinking the blood, asked Aiden.
"It’s over."
"Didn’t you hear anything?"
"I just killed him because I didn’t want to bother listening."
"Huh?"
Arian was surprised by Aiden’s words.
"He said he left some research records or something, so we’ll probably find something if we raid their main base."
"Wouldn’t it have been better to hear directly?"
"It wasn’t worth it."
Arian chuckled at Aiden’s words.
"Well, I guess the LA military will handle the rest well."
"That’s right. And while chasing Randy, I had a thought."
"What is it?"
Aiden continued speaking as he put the helmet he was holding back on his head.
"You, Sadie, and me. How about we live together, just the three of us?"
"Huh? Isn’t that obvious? Ah, we should ask Sadie’s opinion too."
Huh
Aiden laughed shortly.
"Oh? What, you just laughed, right?"
"I didn’t."
"Huh? What do you mean you didn’t, you laughed!"
"I didn’t laugh."
Aiden went to the parked bike and started the engine.
Then he got on the bike and said one thing to Arian.
"Get on."
"Are you embarrassed? That’s it, right?"
Seeing Aiden ignoring her words and preparing to pull the accelerator, Arian hurriedly got on the back of the bike.
And Aiden, who immediately started the bike, rushed towards the defense line where the battle was slowly coming to an end.
What do you think?
