His Genius Wife Is A Superstar

Chapter 1632 1632: Nothing Praiseworthy

Tang Yiyi gave Dom a strict stare-down. "I'll take your word for it."

Dom patted his chest again, repeating his promises.

Iris chuckled, shaking her head in amusement.

"On another note, the Chinese version of 'I, the Dreamer' will debut tomorrow," Tang Yiyi said, finally changing the subject. "We project that it should perform better than the original English version in the local music charts."

Iris nodded. "I originally didn't want to do a Chinese version of my songs, but JJ insisted. In the end, I agreed because I indeed shouldn't forget that I became popular in the Chinese market. Venturing into the world stage shouldn't come at the expense of me abandoning my roots."

She wasn't Chinese in her past life as Evelina Vetrova and didn't have a strong national pride back then. Even now, she couldn't lie and say that she held strong national pride because she had only become Long Xiulan for a few years. She wasn't born Chinese to begin with.

However, her husband and children were all citizens of this country. Her husband especially held a strong national pride.

Through extension, she must respect the country where she was living right now. Most of her fans were also citizens of this country.

This wasn't a perfect country and the system was far from ideal, but the people were wonderful. Their support for her was undying and something that she would always treasure.

It would be stupid to burn the bridge with the people who gave her a chance to shine.

Now, she was glad to have listened to JJ and made a Chinese version of her new music despite her initial rejection of the idea.

This was why it was important to have a strong, reliable team to make up for aspects where she was not the most proficient.

JJ became a renowned producer in the country in his own right. He wasn't just spouting nonsense and using his status to control others. He really knew what he was doing.

"Mr. JJ is not the most, er, amiable person to work with," Tang Yiyi commented, "but he's certainly an expert at what he does. It's good to listen to him sometimes, Xiulan, and not always butt heads with him."

Iris shrugged. "I'm also an expert at what I do. We don't see eye to eye in a lot of things when it comes to creating and producing music, but nobody can deny that we work well together. If I suddenly stop butting heads with him and start always agreeing to what he wants, I think he'll be the first one to freak out."

Both Tang Yiyi and Dom laughed.

"Indeed." Tang Yiyi nodded.

"I even suspect that Boss JJ thoroughly enjoys arguing with my boss," Dom said. "He's so childish like that sometimes."

"It's not just sometimes, it's most of the time," Iris corrected. "Even when I don't want to argue with him, he'll still find a reason to quarrel with me."

The other two laughed again.

"How's your acting lessons going?" Tang Yiyi asked, changing the subject.

Iris sighed.

"Why are you sighing?" Her manager frowned. "It's not going well? I need to ask your instructor directly!"

"No, Big Sis Yiyi!" Dom stopped her. "Boss is actually doing well! The instructor even sincerely praised her for the first time for improving."

"Is that true?" Tang Yiyi was suspicious.

Iris rolled her eyes. "I only sighed because my schedule is so full every day. I just want to work on my music and businesses, and of course, spend time with my family, and yet here I am needing to squeeze time to attend acting lessons. Acting in just an hour is honestly more draining than recording music for a full week nonstop."

"That's because you're not an actress," Tang Yiyi said. Now it was her turn to shrug. "For a talented musician like you, working on music is not tiring at all. Doing something outside your comfort zone and something that you're not good at would of course drain you like no other."

Iris sighed again.

Tang Yiyi and Dom joined her in sighing.

"Well, if it doesn't really work out, then you can just quit," Tang Yiyi said. "At this rate, you're only doing it as a favour to your friend, Princess Porkchop, because she keeps on insisting that she wants you to star as the female lead."

"And to show Prince Lin Lin and Manager Lin Dong that the boss can do it," Dom reminded them. "Don't forget that they looked down on Boss' acting skills before! Hmph!"

"Well, there's indeed nothing to praise about your boss' current acting skills," Tang Yiyi replied in a resigned tone.

"What do you mean by that, Big Sis Yiyi?!" Dom demanded. "Aren't you on our team?!"

"Of course, I'm on our team! I'm your boss' manager!"

"Hmph!"

"Alright, that's enough." Iris stopped the two from quarrelling.

She didn't like to see her team members quarrelling because of her. She knew that they were only thinking the best for her, but it shouldn't come at an argument. Fortunately, the two listened and immediately stopped.

"Indeed, my current acting skills are far from impressive," Iris said. "But that doesn't mean that I won't do my best to improve. I may not like it and find it many times more difficult than working on music, but I promised our friend Meimei to do my best to bring her vision of the female lead to life. If in the end, I still fall short, then I'll admit defeat and surrender. I'm sure that Meimei would be able to accept the results then. But for now, I have to work hard."

Dom nodded and gave her two thumbs up.

Tang Yiyi sighed again but still nodded.

After this, the three tacitly agreed not to talk about Iris' currently dismal acting skills anymore. There really was nothing to talk about it except for finding faults.

Although Iris didn't mind receiving constructive critiques, they could become so exhausting to listen to especially when acting wasn't her forte to begin with.
