"Do you know him?" Luo Huian turned to look at Yu Xiang Qiao and asked.
"I do know him," Yu Xiang Qiao nodded. "He is the old man who sits right at the entrance of the railway station. You never went there, so you might not know him, but I have seen him many times when I take the metro home."
"He sits at the railway station?" Luo Huian mused with a raise of her brow.
"That's right," Yu Xiang Qiao nodded and explained, "His daughter left on a hunt three years ago when the dungeon next to the railway station suddenly opened. And ever since she entered the dungeon, she has never returned. Old Tang has ever since been waiting for his daughter's return; he always gets up at four in the morning and then waits in front of the railway station till five in the evening."
After she finished telling the tale of the old man, she couldn't help but sigh and say, "He is also a pitiful man. When his daughter was still here, he was a popular traditional medicine practitioner, but then his daughter went missing, and he stopped paying attention to everything."
She sighed heavily and muttered, "I hope that he will be able to get through this pain after all; if his daughter were alive, then she would have returned by now; since she never returned, she might already be gone."
After she finished speaking, Luo Huian's brows furrowed a little. She blinked her eyes and then said to Xiao Hei, "That man didn't seem like he was suffering, did he?"
"Maybe he is not suffering as much as others keep saying?" Xiao Bai offered.
"Or maybe he has come to terms with it and wants to end his life," corrected Xiao Hei.
As soon as he finished speaking, Luo Huian stayed where she was for a second before bolting right out of the counter. She jumped past the counter and rushed right after the man.
Yu Xiang Qiao was stunned when she saw Luo Huian chasing after the old man. She chased after Luo Huian and shouted, "What's wrong? Where are you going?"
However, Luo Huian didn't have the time to answer.
She knew that if she wasted another second, things might be much more different than they could have been.
You Ruojin saw Luo Huian running out of the bakery and turned to look at Yu Xiang Qiao. She sensed something amiss which was why she said to Yu Xiang Qiao, "Go after her and see if everything is alright or not."
She would have chased after Luo Huian herself but You Ruojin knew that someone needed to stay at the bakery and things might become troublesome.
Yu Xiang Qiao turned to look at You Ruojin and asked worriedly, "Will you be alright?"
"Yes," You Ruojin nodded. She then looked down at the egg that she had carefully secured in her uniform and sighed. With this egg in her care, how could she even run around?
Yu Xiang Qiao didn't question her any further and then chased after Luo Huian, who was chasing Old Master Tang.
"Hey!" Luo Huian called out to the old man, who continued walking without looking back. When she saw that the old man was heading to the train station, she gritted her teeth and increased her pace.
An action that made her wince in pain. Though she had recovered, she was still hurting in place, which made Luo Huian grit her teeth even when she was walking, and here she had to run. Talk about hail coming down the second she lost her umbrella.
"Hey, old man! Someone stop him for me!" Luo Huian shouted as she pointed at old man Tang, but maybe the people of this world were simply too heartless or unbothered. No one listened to her pleas, even though she shouted at the top of her lungs. Seeing this, Luo Huian clenched her teeth and started pushing the people in front of her.
"What are you doing?"
"Don't push me!"
"Are you really pushing me right now? Can't you see that I am holding a child?"
"Sorry about that," Luo Huian apologised in a distracted manner.
The mer was about to lose his temper, but the second he saw that the person in front of him was the Luo Huian, his anger faded out of his eyes, and he stammered, "It… It's alright," he then turned to look at his friends and said to them, "She talked with me!"
Luo Huian had no idea about this small incident. She somehow managed to reach the front of the crowd and looked around for Old Master Tang crazily. Her rosy locks were sticking to her forehead as she sweated tons of cold sweat due to the worry in her heart.
She turned her head to the left and then to the right. When she didn't see him, worry turned into panic, and Luo Huian caught hold of the station master, who seemed too surprised to be stopped by a celebrity.
"Mi…miss Luo?" the station master squeaked. Her cheeks flushed red when she saw that the person who was stopping her was none other than Luo Huian.
"Did you…huff… Did you see an old man?" Luo Huian ignored the shocked look of the stationmaster and described the appearance of the old man.
When the stationmaster heard the description of Luo Huian, her eyes widened. She asked, "Are you looking for Old Master Tang? He usually stays at the end of this platform where the dungeon once opened, but what do you need — Ah, Miss Luo!?"
Luo Huian didn't pay attention to the woman and rushed to the end of the station, a good thing too. The second she came to a stop, Luo Huian saw the old man walking to the edge of the platform.
Seeing this, Luo Huian didn't even think twice as she rushed forward and caught hold of the old man who jumped down the platform at once!
"AHHHH!!"
"Someone just jumped down!"
"The train is coming; someone pulled them up."
Screams echoed in and around the platform. The stationmaster, who was chasing after Luo Huian, turned pale when she heard that someone had jumped down from the platform. If that old man died, then she would be in a lot of trouble. After all, Old Master Tang's daughter was given special amenities for going to the S-rank dungeon.
That man was protected by the council! If something happened to him, then she would be in a hell of a lot of trouble.
She pushed the people around her and rushed to the front with a worried expression, and what she saw made her stagger and kneel on the floor.
"Fortunately, fortunately," the stationmaster wiped the sweat off her face when she saw that Luo Huian had pulled Old Master Tang back just in time before the train crossed the platform or else things would have turned really dangerous.
"Old Tang!" The snack seller at the train station looked at the old man with a frown on his face. He said to Old Master Tang, "You—have you really gone mad finally? How can you kill yourself? What if your daughter returns and doesn't find you? She went to an S-ranked dungeon!"
"It can take more than ten years to defeat the boss of that dungeon. It has only been three years."
Though the mer knew that there was a very good possibility that the woman was dead, he would rather give false hope to Old Master Tang because it was clear that the man really needed it.
"You don't have to lie to me." Old Master Tang waved his hand angrily and said to the old mer, "I know that she is never going to come back. If she were, then she would have come back by now."
He then turned to look at Luo Huian before saying to her, "Why did you stop me? An old man like me has nothing to do in this world!"
Luo Huian looked at his unstable aura of gloom and then said to him in a low voice, "Who says that there is nothing for you to do? Did you like the desserts that I packed for you?"
Old Master Tang was stunned by her sudden change of topic, but he still nodded. He said to her, "I did; what about it?"
"Then don't you want to try the new cake that I am making? I—I am not really confident in this particular cake, and I am worried that things might not go well with it. However, you old man, it seems like you know your way around the culinary world; why don't you come and help me around?"
"Anyway, even if you can't die today, your life is long and we can plan your grand departure from this world later on."
Everyone turned to look at Luo Huian with a stunned expression on their faces. What exactly was she trying to say here!?
What do you think?
