Elder Madam Luo let out a shriek as she banged her fists on the armrests of the chair. She couldn't believe the words that came out of her familiar's mouth. Luo Huian actually said that she was not going to return? How dare she!

Did she really think that she could just make the decision herself?

She turned to look at her son, who was kneeling on the floor and questioned him angrily, "Did you hear the good things that your daughter spoke to my familiar? She says that she does not want to return to the immortal realm, can you believe it?"

Luo Tingfeng lowered his head. His fists were clenched on his lap as he stayed quiet.

When Elder Madam Luo saw that her son was not saying anything, her temper rose. She picked up the teacup that was sitting next to her and threw it at her son.

The teacup flew in an arc and then hit the man kneeling on the floor. Luo Tingfeng didn't dodge the teacup and let it hit him. The second the porcelain cup smashed against his head, blood oozed out of his wound, but Luo Tingfeng didn't even lift his hand to wipe it off.

When Elder Madam Luo saw the blood trickling down the forehead of her son, her heart ached a little. She wanted to say something, but she was not used to showing concern for her son, and to make matters worse, her son was born with a cold temperament. No matter how much she tried to get close to him, her son never paid any attention to her.

Thus, even though she wanted to show some concern for him, she couldn't do it. In the end, all that came out of her mouth was nothing but harsh words as she said to her son, "Did you hear what I said, Tingfeng?"

"To answer Elder Luo, I did." Luo Tingfeng's manners were impeccable, but that only made the old woman purse her lips in anger. She parted her lips and stated in a cold voice, "Since you heard what I said, what do you have to say about it! Your daughter, she actually said such bold words while refusing to reflect on the things that she had done."

"I sent her to that world to reflect over her mistakes and not to —" She paused before adding, "Not to indulge herself in one of the sins."

Luo Tingfeng remained quiet, which further infuriated the rest of the elders. They couldn't help but condemn him for staying quiet despite the questions that were being asked of him.

"Master Luo, can you not hear what we are saying to you?"

"Is it because you want to protect Luo Huian?"

"Don't you think that it's a bit disrespectful of you to ignore your mother like this?"

"Master Luo, we understand that as a father you want to save the life of your daughter, but I think that Luo Huian's actions are really despicable! How can she refute Elder Luo like this?"

Luo Tingfeng stayed quiet. He didn't say anything for a while before pursing his lips and lowering his head. Everyone thought that they had made him bow his head and felt even more emboldened, only for the man to raise his head and state in a cold voice, "Since that is the case, isn't it a good thing that she is not willing to return?"

"TINGFENG!" Elder Madam Luo could not believe the words that were coming out of her son's mouth. She blinked her eyes and stared at the man with a look of pure disbelief in her eyes.

She had never once thought that her son would refute her like this, and now that he was retorting to her, she had no idea what to say anymore.

"How can you—"

"Mother," Luo Tingfeng looked up at Elder Madam Luo. He didn't say anything other than calling out to his mother but it still made Elder Madam Luo's face turn red. "Since you don't like Huian, then it's only natural for her to not like you. My daughter has always been like this and you know it too. But you still pushed her away; who can you blame other than yourself?"

"I pushed her away?" Elder Madam Luo felt like her son was speaking another language. "When did it happen? It was she who did wrong—"

"Did she?" In response to the remarks that Elder Madam Luo made, Luo Tingfeng simply raised her head and stared at the woman with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

When Elder Madam Luo saw the look in the eyes of her son, she suddenly turned silent, not knowing what to say to him.

Luo Tingfeng didn't say another word as he slowly got to his feet and stated, "My daughter is not a child. She can sense who is kind to her and who is not. Since you all never showed any kind of kindness to her, she will naturally be reluctant to return to the place where she was treated as a sinner."

"Tingfeng!" Elder Madam Luo spoke in a scandalized tone. "What is the meaning of this? Do you support her? You actually support her?"

"She is my daughter!" Luo Tingfeng raised his voice upon hearing the same questions that he had heard ages ago. "You tell me what I am supposed to do? You asked me to stand aside and watch you all treat her as one of the cruellest sinners just to ease your guilt, and I did. Now you want me to do the same? I apologize, mother, but I cannot do it."

Elder Madam Luo's face turned pouchy when she heard the questioning and accusatory tone of her son. Her eyes were filled with silent rage when she heard him say that she did it because she wanted to calm down the elders of the realm.

Luo Huian was her own granddaughter; was she so cruel that she would suppress that girl for her own benefit? She did it because that girl was guilty.

"So you also think that I was in the wrong?" Elder Madam Luo asked with naked contempt in her eyes.

"No," Luo Tingfeng got to his feet as he glanced in the direction of the many elders who lowered their heads or looked away at once. "I believe you were also a victim, mother."

"And I will prove that."

Once he finished speaking, he turned around on his feet and then headed out of the court. Seeing her son leave without explaining what he meant, Elder Madam Luo was speechless. She turned to look at her aide, who calmly smiled at her and said, "What did he mean by those words?"

"I believe that Master Luo believes that someone lied to you back then, Elder Luo. Maybe the evidence was either deliberately concealed, or maybe someone faked a trail that pointed to Miss Huian."

When Elder Madam Luo heard the words of her aide, she furrowed her brows and turned to look at the many elders who were standing next to her. They betrayed her? When? And why?

Elder Madam Luo had never doubted the elders by her side because they had once fought the great immortal war with her. However, after being repeatedly reminded that there was something wrong with them, she couldn't help but doubt her judgement.

"Achoo!" Luo Huian cupped her nose and let out a sneeze. She rubbed the tip of her nose and looked at the old man who was staring at the many desserts that she had placed in the showcase.

"Humph, you don't even cover your nose with a mask," remarked the old man with a light-hearted scoff. "Are you really willing to work in the food industry with that careless attitude of yours?"

Luo Huian: "...."

"Old man, are you really going to make me answer that question?" Luo Huian planted her hands on the glass case and then reached out for the sanitiser bottle.

"I just want to know if these cakes are healthy."

"Since when did desserts become healthy?" Luo Huian asked, which silenced the old man.

He cleared his throat and then remarked, "I meant to ask if these desserts were made with careful care or not?"

"If they were not, then I wouldn't have placed them here," she pointed to the surveillance camera and then said to the old man, "You can check the surveillance recording if you don't believe me."

The old man narrowed his eyes before pointing to the latest desserts that Luo Huian had launched and said to her, "If I find any fault with these desserts today, I will certainly come back with the police."

"I understand; thank you for your patronage." Luo Huian smiled at the old man as she rang up his order and handed him a gigantic white box that held his desserts.

In response, the old man simply snorted.

As he turned around to leave, Yu Xiang Qiao walked over to where Luo Huian was standing and remarked, "So old Tang found our shop at last."
