Chapter 7 - Su Yan Steps In
Just as the black-dressed woman moved to take Lin Qingyue away, a female cultivator from Qingyun Sect spoke up.
“Friend, trying to take someone away right in front of our Qingyun Sect, you’re being a bit too overbearing, aren’t you?”
“Your someone?”
The black-dressed woman frowned, confused. Hadn’t they just rejected her?
The Qingyun Sect cultivator stepped forward. “That was then, this is now. My junior brothers have taken a liking to this girl. Please give me some face and hand her over to us.”
“Your junior brothers fancy her?”
The black-dressed woman’s expression turned odd, and the crowd buzzed with whispers.
The Qingyun cultivator tilted her head up. “That’s right. My junior brothers admire her talents and wish to chat with her by candlelight about life’s grand ideals.”
Talent? As if they’d ever cracked a book. It was obviously her beauty they were after.
Su Yan stood there, jaw dropped. This was a female-dominated world, yet men were throwing themselves at her. Little Junior Sister’s charm was terrifying—who else could be the protagonist?
Su Yan’s gaze grew strange. He could tell this Qingyun cultivator had an improper relationship with those male disciples. Whatever they wanted, she’d deliver without a fuss.
But to simp this hard? That was a rare sight, even across history. The junior brothers wanted a woman, and she didn’t even complain.
Wait a sec!
Something felt off. Junior brothers… as in multiple?
Su Yan frowned, glancing between the Qingyun cultivator and the male disciples. Was she chasing after several guys at once? Wouldn’t that cause problems?
What was going on here? He couldn’t quite figure it out.
The Qingyun cultivator turned to Lin Qingyue with a smile. "Young lady, want to become immortal? Just pay a small price, and I’ll guarantee you a spot in the sect."
A small price? More like a thousand hidden costs!
Su Yan’s eyes twitched. He wanted to say, "Your sect’s a mess," but held back.
For now, Little Junior Sister wasn’t in real danger. The best move was to sit back and watch the drama unfold.
Before Lin Qingyue could answer, the He Huan Sect cultivator’s face turned cold. "Trying to steal from me? Did you even ask for permission?"
In an instant, a streak of black light shot out like an arrow. No one expected her to attack so suddenly.
A loud explosion shook the entire plaza, knocking many mortals off their feet.
Before Su Yan could even react, the Qingyun disciple and the He Huan cultivator were already exchanging blows.
“???”
Su Yan’s mouth fell open slightly. They had been talking just fine—why did things suddenly turn into a fight?
The battle immediately angered the Qingyun Sect. Today was their recruitment day, and having a He Huan Sect disciple steal someone right in front of them was an open insult.
"Stop!"
A fierce-looking woman stepped forward, her body glowing with golden light. Her voice boomed like thunder. "I am an elder of Qingyun Sect. You dare snatch someone right in front of me?"
The He Huan Sect cultivator hesitated, feeling the elder’s overwhelming presence. Her confidence wavered for a moment.
But then, remembering her sect’s powerful backing, she quickly regained her arrogance. With a snort, she snapped, "Oh? Trying to bully the weak just because you're strong? Do you not take He Huan Sect seriously?"
The elder’s expression darkened. He Huan Sect was a powerful force, not one to be easily provoked.
But… could a single disciple really represent the entire sect? Besides, they were the ones in the wrong first.
“Little girl, don’t twist words to justify yourself. We saw her first.”
Whether Lin Qingyue had talent was one thing—losing face before a crowd of mortals was another.
The He Huan cultivator blocked Lin Qingyue’s attempt to slip away, saying, “Fine, I won’t argue. Let the girl choose—He Huan Sect or your Qingyun Sect?”
The elder’s face flared with anger. “Young lady, choose carefully,” she said coldly.
All eyes turned to the girl.
Lin Qingyue clenched her teeth. Did she have a choice?
One demanded she sell her body, the other she couldn’t afford to provoke. She wanted neither.
But reality didn’t bend to her wishes—she had to pick.
“I…”
Lin Qingyue bowed her head, teeth sinking into her lip, nearly drawing blood.
The He Huan cultivator frowned at her silence. “What are you waiting for? What’s there to think about? It’s an honor I’ve chosen you—don’t be ungrateful!”
The elder added, “I hope you understand the consequences of your choice. Stop hesitating!”
Lin Qingyue’s eyes dimmed.
So many people around, yet not one spoke up for her. Was this the tyranny of cultivators—bullying a mere mortal like her?
If she couldn’t become a cultivator, she’d rather die than be a plaything or a punching bag—don’t even think about it!
Death loomed in Lin Qingyue’s mind.
Su Yan saw this and knew it was his moment. Now was the perfect chance to earn her favor.
Since the He Huan cultivator had a powerful backer, he’d avoid direct conflict. Yi Xian Sect’s name alone should cow the crowd.
With that thought, just as Su Yan stepped forward, three options flashed before him.
[Option 1: Kill the He Huan cultivator and Qingyun elder to vent Little Junior Sister’s anger. (Reward: Binding Immortal Rope—Counterfeit Version)]
[Option 2: Use force to drive off the Qingyun elder and He Huan cultivator. (Reward: High-Grade Spiritual Weapon, Peach Blossom Couch)]
[Option 3: Reveal your identity and show Bai Shuixin’s jade token. (Reward: Aptitude +1)]
“Here we go again?”
Su Yan groaned inwardly. This system triggered way too often—every move demanded a choice.
Grumbling to himself, he weighed his options.
The first was suicide, the second beyond his strength. The third was the simplest—just state who he was.
Decided, Su Yan stepped forward, dispelling his concealment spell.
“Stop!”
As the crowd waited for Lin Qingyue’s answer, a clear voice suddenly broke the silence.
Everyone instinctively turned to look—and saw a breathtaking young man approaching.
Dressed in flowing cyan robes, his sharp brows and piercing eyes gave him an icy elegance. His presence was mesmerizing, making hearts race.
Su Yan ignored the stares of the surrounding women and focused on the He Huan Sect cultivator.
"This person—I'm taking her."
The He Huan disciple snapped out of her daze, her expression darkening.
"You're taking her? And why is that? Just because of your pretty face?"
Before she could say more, Su Yan casually held up a jade token.
Her face instantly paled.
Yi Xian Sect… Tian Shui Peak!
He was that person’s disciple?
She stared at Su Yan, recalling a certain rumor—
The head of Yi Xian Sect, Bai Shuixin, had accepted a male disciple. A youth so otherworldly and stunning that she cherished him above all others.
What do you think?
